Like all VA loans, mortgages offered through Veterans United are insured by the US Department of Veteran’s Affairs. Because of this, the company is able to offer loans with significantly more favorable conditions to service members and veterans than usually available to the civilian population, like flexible qualification guidelines, lower rates, lower monthly payments, no down payments, and no private mortgage insurance.

As the country's No. 1 Lender for VA purchase loans, Veterans United has closed over 100,000 home loans for military service members and their families.

Veterans United Qualification Requirements

Qualification Requirements - 4.5 / 5

VA loans are a $0 down payment mortgage option available to Veterans, Service Members and select military spouses, are issued by private lenders, and are guaranteed by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).

All prospective borrowers under the VA loan program must obtain a Certificate of Eligibility (COE) from the Veterans Administration. Veterans United may be able to get this document for you.

In order to get a COE, generally speaking, you must:
  • Have 90 consecutive days of active service during wartime, or
  • Have 181 days of service during peacetime, or
  • Six years in the Reserves or National Guard, or
  • Be the spouse of a service member who has died in the line of duty or as a result of an injury sustained in the line of duty

  • Because VA loans are insured by the federal government, credit score typically isn’t as much of a limiting factor as it is with conventional loans, however, it still will play a part.

If your credit is less than stellar, it would be a good idea to avail yourself of Veterans United’s credit building service. As an active or former service member, the company connects you with credit and VA loan experts free of charge to help get you on track to securing a home.

If you have additional questions about whether you qualify, you can contact Veterans United's Home Loan Specialists, who are available 24/7.

Veterans United has provided us with excellent service since the start of the VA Loan process and we're excited about our home purchase with Veterans United.

Wasted our time! We were upfront about what our intentions were: placing a new manufactured home on our property. Kyle was very friendly as he took all of our sensitive financial information, conducted a deep credit check and obtained a copy of my husband's DD214, only to be informed the next day that they do not lend for "mobile" homes. Our original mortgage, based on the purchase of a manufactured home on this same property 20 years ago, is a VA loan. Our financials are excellent, and we were very clear about our plans, so we can only assume they were phishing for information. Happy Veteran's Day to my hubby. Sad!

Right before closing we were denied because they claimed we needed a paper trail of bill paying by checks. We pay most by computer or phone. Had they told us we would have done so in the beginning not 10 months into the application process. We were embarrassed and not to mention the time and money we loss on the Inspection etc. We lost a great deal estate deal because of them. This is not how you do business, withholding information that a client could have rectified before it was too late. As a veteran I don't believe I received the good service as I gave my country!

They're full of false hopes and lies. Placed me in the "Lighthouse" program, told me if I "fixed" certain issues that they "simulated" my credit score going above what they needed. Then, after fixing the issues, their "simulator" changed and they needed me to fix more "issues". Don't trust what they say, because its only "simulated" results... JESSICA NELSON was my representative.

They're full of it. If you've used or are using your Post 9/11, or have student loans, EVEN if you get a monthly stipend through Vocational Rehab, PLUS excess through school, they'll tell you they'll only count your VA pension. Making your debit to income ration too high. They're full of false hopes and lies. Take your business where. Oh, and let's not forget the 1.1 Billion over charged VA in home loans. RUN!

Your information was pleasant to read and a great source of information. My husband and I have lived in the same place for 20 years and are not real clear on the moving/buying process. We live in West Palm Beach, Florida and intend to move to Asheville, North Carolina.
