I have been trying for over a week to submit a claim. I cannot get a hold of a real person. So I've been using the texting. I have the app on my phone and everytime I try to put the claim in it will NOT move so I can fill out the claim. The person that I'm texting with keeps telling me to use my phone app and I keep telling her that is what I'm using. She asked me for a screen shot which I provided and I get a message from her telling me to use my Phone APP. No matter what I've tried I cannot submit the claim and they just stop trying to resolve and cut me off.
I felt that they unreasonably denied paying a cent for my cat's emergency treatment. I now don't trust them and have canceled their service. Also for pet insurance emergency care can run over ten thousand dollars, 3000 even if paid is not enough coverage. (I did like the Pawp Vets and Pharmacy)
You denied my emergency claim because I mentioned to the vet that she had panted for 3 days prior to the emergency. Panting with no other symptoms does not equal an emergency, and you would not have approved an emergency visit for panting. So you can't deny my claim because of it. When the emergency became apparent, we got her to the ER within 60 minutes. Shame on you. I have made it my sole purpose to tell the world what you have done, and more importantly what you haven't done - treated my claim appropriately.
Absolutely amazing how they are still in operation. I've been denied before for a few claims that I submitted through another insurance agency, wasn't upset just disappointed but Pawp is a work of art, I am furious. "Pawp stands for Poor Animal Wellbeing Practice". I am not going to go into every detail because it still hurts that the love of my life has departed. But my baby boy was so cheerful and playful until the end. His lymphoma did return but the Oncologist and I had a game plan to extend his life as long as possible and it was working. Until, at the same time his pacemaker that was placed in January became infected and started moving under his skin. Once I saw a small shiny... Read More
This company is a fraud, I don't know why they are allowed to operate, they tell you to take the dog and they never refund your money is a Scam
Poor customer services! Very disappointed in the time it took them to review a emergency funds request. It took a week and all it said was that it was denied. No explanation.
If I had rated this service a year ago, I would have given it 5 stars. I had a dog wake me up in the middle of the night and then collapse. I contacted PAWP through the app and was on the camera chat. They wanted me to show the dog, I did, and was told to rush him to vet. Unfortunately, he died within a few minutes of arriving to the emergency vet. I turned in the notes and invoice and was reimbursed in about 3-4 days. I have been telling people what a great program this is. So now, let's move to recent experience. In the middle of the day a little over a week ago, my other dog came in limping. I could not find anything on his leg or paw. I had her jump up on bed and saw she had a... Read More
The emergency coverage plan is a scam. They add so many loopholes that it is impossible to actually be reimbursed. I paid in to a plan for YEARS and never used the fund but they refused to reimburse me when my cat was hospitalized and passed away. The expectations that they have for people to seek care and seek reimbursement while in panic mode and, in my case, actively grieving are cruel. I made a very human plea and acknowledged my own disorganization in seeking reimbursement, explained that I was grieving, explained that the bill would put me in significant financial hardship, and begged for them to reconsider but they would not. If you are considering the emergency fund, you are better... Read More
I noticed my cat had lost a little weight. Not much to worry about, but the other day, I noticed her pawing at her mouth & when I looked inside, I was horrified. There was a tumor growing inside her mouth. I felt about an inch tall, so I immediately took her to the vet, who said she needs emergency surgery. I don't have money like that. That's why I got Pawp. I don't pay 20.00 for someone to give me advice, I paid the 20.00 for situations like this. If a cat can't eat, I would think that falls under the guideline of emergency & then they have the audacity to tell me to fill out a claims form when the only reason I signed up was because they were the only company, who said they paid up... PAWP IS A SCAM!!!! I would only recommend this service to my worst enemies ... for months we had issues managing emergency situations with our kitty, followed their instructions and each time denied help. Finally at the end and when we asked if they would cover the costs to put him down and end his suffering WE WERE DENIED!!!!! NO EXPLANATION ...and no one to talk to once we did receive their denial. FORGET these scam artists ... I am a publicist ... I WILL LET EVERYONE KNOW IN MY SPHERE OF INFLUENCE this company is a SCAM!!!!
Scam. My dog infested 7os of chocolate and we had to rush her to the vet as she was visibly shaking. Vet induced, she puked and they kept her overnight because she was still shaking and 22lbs. Vet said her organs would have shut down if we hadn’t gotten then: They hydrated her and gave her meds until she was okay: pawp nitpicked the notes, didn’t call the vet, and decided she didn’t need the treatment and didn’t cover the 2000 visit, they will take your money.
Signed up on 1/23. Used service on 1/23 to speak to Vet. (It was a Vet tech not a vet) She offered advice on diet which we were already doing. My dog died on 1/29. Canceled on 2/24. was told no longer have emergency fund but can use vets. Found out was charged for 2nd full month, Asked for a credit. Was told no. Escalated to supervisor/manager. No manager responded and then my emails were ignored. They continued to send me marketing emails with my dead dogs name on it. Just a money grab company with horrible customer service.
Pawp refused to pay for a very severe emergency on a dog that have been attacked to the tune of $1600 (with two other vet bills that came later within two weeks totalling another 900 and $500 within a week of that first incident). They had the audacity to tell us that it wasn’t a true emergency. We had just gone through a terrible disaster of subzero temperatures, excessive winds that left many people homeless and without heat and power and yet somehow even though we didn’t have communications abilities, we were still denied. We were actually declared a natural disaster area. I’ve reached out to our attorney and will be contacting the insurance commissioner for the state of New York... Read More
I bought this "Insurance" 4 Month ago and it turned out to be a major waste of time. I used the chat even the emergency chat but the upper respiratory infection of my Cat was not deemed an emergency..Until my cat had an emergency with 103 f Fever.
The fact that Pawp is advertising this as a great alternative to Pet Insurance is grossly a FALSE ADVERTISING and very deceiving.
And it could cost you much more in the end because not every emergency is visible over Zoom, especially since Cats know how to hide there illness.
You can get what Pawp offers for free at Chewy.com for example and many other online Pet Websites and services.
I bought this insurance for my cat. Last July, as I was out of the country, the sitter had to take my cat for an emergency, as instructed by me. I then contacted PAWP but they told me the sitter or I had to contact first their vets online. The lady I talked to told me that they could cover the expenses but the I wouldn't be eligible for the $3000 emergency fund anymoe. Ok I said. Maybe for some other time. I then noticed a growth on my cat and I made an appointment two weeks ago with his vet. The growth was benign, but it happened that by coincidence he developed the same symptoms as in July. He had to stay, and the vet took urine and blood samples. He also had to be taken every other... Read More
The vets are horrible with no bedside manner. The first time I called I was assigned a vet named Ann who told me over text that my dog probably had a blood clot or cancer but that the test to find out would not be covered and that if she couldn't walk that was okay b/c I could use a harness to pull her around. SHOCKING, UPSETTING and I'm not sure it will prove to be the case at all. Then I reported it and low and behold the transcript that Ann submitted didn't contain that language. I'm out. Horrible waste of money. Also Ann and the subsequent people that I spoke to told me that they only cover life and death situations. So if you need money for an ACL Surgery or something like... I have owned pets off and on for the past 60 years. I’ve been online for the better part of the past 35 years. What the internet has done has introduced me to businesses which I might want to patronize on the opposite side of the country and world. What the internet has also done is to enlighten me about those businesses that I would much rather dismiss. Pawp, pet insurance, is one of the later. This pet insurance company, based in New York state, has a handful of online presences with Facebook, all starting with titles that start with ‘Ask A Vet.’ I’ve investigated all three of these and none had a veterinarian present for any significant amount of time. One of these, ‘Ask A Vet... Read More
Absolutely NOT a good idea! I signed up in June of 2021 without reading the fine lines. In distress, in the middle of the night, when emergencies usually happen, you are not going to have time to get approval for an emergency vet clinic , trying to send videos of your pet, etc! You should be the one to deem it is an emergency not them! I came home one night and found my dog almost lifeless and rushed her to an ER clinic where she was put in an oxygen tent over night along with fluids and blood work until she could get to her normal vet the next day when he opened. It was suspected she had a stroke, or severe seizure. I was in shock thinking I was loosing my dog, and almost did, that I... Read More

Hey, I'm only considering this, and began to think about having to wait 5 days for approval on an emergency. My cat just got attacked by two dogs. I couldn't even get any vet to see him. They referred me to an emergency facility nearly an hour away. I blame myself in so many ways, but my poor cat, best friend of 12 years and by all who ever met him in agreement he was the most awesome cat they ever had seen, I lost him and there was little I could do for him. I was shattered. I'm not convinced this is such a great thing. I'm leaning towards scam.
Scam!!!!! Same story with my dog as the others.. vet didn’t think it was an emergency, didn’t approve the insurance, the vet who examined her in person said she needed to be treated or she was at risk of death due to dehydration and other complications and elating to a dog having a fever of 105 for two weeks!!!! Pawp is the biggest scam of all. I wonder how it’s even showing that it has 4 stars when it first comes up on Google because when you read the reviews they are mostly all 1 star!
So, I understood the paramaters of Pawp Pet Insurance. My puppy ingested something and became violently ill. I rushed her to the vet where they immediately deemed she has a blockage in her duodenum and needs an emergency ultra sound. I called Pawp to get the emergency activated, and they said NO I NEEDED TO VIDEO CALL THEM BEFORE I rushed her to the Vet. How in anyway is that insurance or looking out for a pet. Let her possibly die so I can make a video chat? SCAM, LIARS, NOT INTERESTED IN PET HEALTH IN ANYWAY!
This company is a total scam and they prey on people who love their pets. I am actually going to sue them in small claims court. They diagnosed my dog via a video and said the issue was "not life threatening." It turns out my dog has a dislocated leg (which I TOLD the vet I suspected it was because the leg was dangling and I could feel it) and my dog is now having emergency surgery. A dislocated leg is, indeed, life threatening and they were absolutely NO help at all. A total WASTE of money and a scam, in my opinion. I have read dozens of reviews and they are the judge and jury on what they wish to call a "life threatening emergency." If my dog passes away, I am putting them out of... Read More
I have had so many issues with Pawp! I had to use the emergency service fund because my cat was in an emergency. The vet I had a video call with also agreed it was an emergency and I followed all their steps. The vet clinic tried to get ahold of Pawp to pay for the visit with the emergency fund they said I could use with no response. When I tried to get help from the support team they stopped responding! I have had so many issues with this company! They have wrongfully charged me multiple times also. Don't do it! Save your time and money to pay for a better insurance!
I’ve called 3 times and tried “chat”. I can’t reach anyone?? I need to speak to a live person
Pawp is not an everyday-health-concern type of insurance. It won't cover your pet for an exam to determine why he or she is limping, for example. However, it will cover a lot of worst case scenarios—those that the company considers emergency situations. The maximum amount Pawp will reimburse you for an emergency is $3,000. That may not be enough to cover more serious surgeries but it can help ease the burden of a large, unexpected vet bill.
Pawp's plan does offer a few very appealing features. There are no co-pays or deductibles. You can choose any licensed vet in the event your pet needs emergency care. In addition, vet bills are paid upfront on the same day they are incurred directly to the vet providing services. Besides, they offer unlimited 24/7 access to online vets who will answer any health, behavioral or nutritional questions you might have. They will also determine the urgency of your pet’s situation so that you can avoid unnecessary trips to the vet and expensive bills.
So while this plan’s coverage might not be as extensive as other traditional insurance policies, it is a great option for the vast majority of pets that don’t have insurance or any financial protection whatsoever. Less than 3% of pets in the U.S are insured, resulting in a very high number of financial euthanasia and surrender cases, which Pawp hopes to reduce with an affordable emergency plan.
