Value Line is an independent investment research company that has provided data, tools, ranking, and expert investment analysis for over 80 years. Located in New York, New York, Value Line employs a staff of more than 70 analysts, researchers, and statisticians to help customers build wealth by making more informed investment decisions.

Services Provided and Account Features

Value Line provides a veritable avalanche of data and research into all aspects of world financial markets. The company has consistently provided some of the most comprehensive and reliable analysis and is trusted by major firms and independent investors alike. In terms of equities, Value Line's multiple retail service plans provide peer comparisons, estimates, ratings, projections and analyst commentaries of thousands of exchange listed corporations.

Value Line's mutual fund packages provide analysis of 12,000 - 20,000 subgroups and classify each fund by objective, as in security, aggressive growth, or international stocks. The company offers customers and mutual fund managers access to a time-proven ranking system that tracks performance going back as far as 20 years.

Another notable program is Value Line's Stock Selection Service, which delivers monthly information on new and/or compelling stocks, rating them according to high-quality dividends, growth payment, and best upside and risk/reward ratio.

Reputation and Accreditation

Look up the word "established" in the dictionary and you just might find Value Line's logo. With more than 80 years in business, the company has a solid reputation in the financial services industry. Value Line has been praised by such investment luminaries as Warren Buffett and Peter Lynch, but we were also impressed by the company's numerous positive reviews from lesser-known investors and everyday people. Judging from what we've read, Value Line's strong suits appear to be accuracy and completeness. Value Line is rated A+ by the BBB

Customer Experience

Value Line in an excellent, exhaustive resource for unbiased and investment information on thousands of industries, companies, economies, and world markets. Subscription to one of Value Line's many plans gets you expert analysis and tools to make the most profitable decisions possible. If there is any downside to using Value Line it would be that the organization is more geared toward experienced investors and enterprise-level financial advising. Having been in operation on Wall Street for 80+ years, Value Line reports and analysis assume a base level of market competency many new players in personal finance do not have.  But some of their plans are quite reasonably priced. Beginning investors who are willing to invest the time in consuming the vast fund of information Value Line provides will get a great education. Less experienced investors can always subscribe to a narrow range of publications and focus on their areas of investment research and still enjoy quality in small quantities.

Fees

Value Line offers customers a 14-day free trial of its flagship product, the Value Line Survey. You don't need to submit your credit card information to take advantage of the trial. The Survey includes Value Line's proprietary rankings and analyst commentary on over 1,700 stocks. It also allows customers to track four model portfolios and set up custom alerts for the stocks and triggering events that interest them most. We absolutely recommend trying before buying with any service of this type whenever possible.

Value Line has entirely too many subscription plans to mention. Each of the eight categories of equities, premium equities, funds, stock selection, options, convertibles, print products, and professional services, has multiple products at multiple price points allowing deeper levels of access to research. Considering Value Line's vast library of resources going back decades, and level of expertise, many of the plans are solidly affordable, even in comparison to some of the more modern, beginner-oriented websites.
