TripAssure offers comprehensive travel insurance plans with various levels of coverage so consumers can choose one that fits their needs and budget.

The optional coverages make this an excellent option for people traveling with valuables or daredevils looking to enjoy new sports.

And the firm's Global XPI service, which makes customers' medical records available worldwide, is an added bonus.

TripAssure Plans & Coverage

Coverage - 3.5 / 5

TripAssure offers three different plans with different amounts of coverage: Advantage Asset, Advantage Bridge, and Advantage Complete.

The Complete plan, which offers the most thorough coverage, is fully comprehensive and offers most of the features included by the best plans in the market. It includes a Cancel For Any Reason benefit, which allows policyholders to receive a reimbursement for 75% of the cost of their trip for reasons not covered by the plan. The coverage includes reimbursement for lost, damaged, or stolen baggage, though the company requires receipts for the mishandled items.

There is also a benefit for reimbursement for delayed baggage, which allows customers to purchase additional personal effects to use until their baggage arrives.

The Complete plan also includes coverage for political or security evacuation, where the company will pay a maximum of $25,000 to repatriate a policyholder if a covered event happens while he or she is on a trip.

Covered events include natural disasters, civil unrest, and State Department Travel Advisories.

The Asset plan and the Bridge plan do not include the Cancel for Any Reason benefit and they decrease the maximum benefit amounts by different measures.

But all TripAssure plans will waive the pre-existing conditions exclusion if the plan is purchased within 15 days of when the trip was paid for (for example, from the date the customer paid for a plane ticket or paid to reserve a hotel room, etc.)

Finally, all plans offer the option to purchase a rental car damage benefit, extend the personal property benefit, or cover sports activities, including hazardous sports.

This means if policyholders are hurt while bungee jumping, or something equally dangerous, they will be covered under the medical benefit.

TripAssure Financial Strength

Financial Strength - 3.5 / 5

TripAssure travel insurance policies are underwritten by the Arch Insurance Company, a Bermuda-based company with better-than-average ratings.

However, they are considered to have a negative outlook by both Standard & Poor's and A.M. Best, so consumers should keep an eye on the company's finances if they decide to purchase a policy.

We are first time Tripasure customers for a scheduled Mississippi River cruise on Sept 29,2019. After reading customer reviews after filing for cancellation service, your company response time for reimbursement is a concern. We do not anticipate needing to use TripAsure for any reason before, during, or after our scheduled tour, but based on your performance for affected customers and the delay in settling their claims, I am not impressed with TripAsure as a travel insurer. Would be interested in your response to these stories comments.

We had to cancel our trip to Europe in July due to a medical situation. We completed many forms including sending medical documentation to support the cancellation. We were continually asked for additional information, including multiple requests for the same information. At one point we were denied coverage due to lack of proof of seeing a doctor for the problem even though we actually provided documentation from two doctors that we saw to address the problem. This went on for several months and we pointed out to TripAssure that we had provided the information they requested multiple times. Eventually, we complained to the Department of Insurance and the Better Business Bureau.... Read More
