Founded in 2002, Veterans United is a full-service lender that specializes in VA loans for qualifying veterans, military members and their spouses.

Based in Columbia, Missouri, the organization carries an unparalleled reputation for customer satisfaction – Veterans United has a 97% customer recommendation rating.

Like all VA loans, mortgages offered through Veterans United are insured by the US Department of Veteran’s Affairs. Because of this, the company is able to offer loans with significantly more favorable conditions to service members and veterans than usually available to the civilian population.

These conditions include more flexible qualification guidelines, lower rates, lower monthly payments, no down payments, and no private mortgage insurance.

Veterans United has closed over 700,000 home loans for military service members and their families, but what really sets the company apart is their involvement in the military community.

The company is advised by a board of former senior military personnel representing every service branch whose mission is to educate veterans as to the benefits of VA loan programs and home ownership in general.

Also, Veterans United offers a totally free and no-obligation credit-building program, where veterans and military families have access to trained and dedicated consultants who offer advice and strategies for improving credit.

What’s more, Veterans United has unmatched VA loan expertise and is the country’s No. 1 lender for VA purchase loans.

Services and Features

For borrowers seeking VA loans, Veterans United offers VA Purchase Loans, VA Cash-Out Refinance Loans, and VA Interest Rate Reduction Refinance Loans – often called a Streamline Refinance.

To get the ball rolling, veterans and service members can avail themselves of a host of online calculators and educational tools to assess their own financial situation, learn the VA loan process, and get help with finding the right home given all this information.

Eligibility

To determine eligibility, prospective borrowers may have to initially provide the following information:

  • Buy or Refinance

  • Military service history

  • State

  • Value of home desired

  • Planned Date of Purchase

  • Credit Score

  • Zip Code

  • Email address

  • Current Address

Qualification

Because VA loans are insured by the federal government, credit score typically isn’t as much of a limiting factor as it is with conventional loans, however, it still will play a part.

If your credit is less than stellar it would be a good idea to avail yourself of Veterans United’s credit building service. As an active or former service member, the company connects you with credit and VA loan experts free of charge to help get you on track to securing a home.

All prospective borrowers under the VA loan program must obtain a Certificate of Eligibility (COE) from the Veterans Administration. Veterans United may be able to get this document for you.

In order to get a COE, generally speaking, you must:

  • Have 90 consecutive days of active service during wartime, or

  • Have 181 days of service during peacetime, or

  • Six years in the Reserves or National Guard, or

  • Be the spouse of a service member who has died in the line of duty or as a result of an injury sustained in the line of duty

VA Loans with Veterans United

Veterans United is not just a financial organization providing VA loans to service members, they are a full service resource of advice and help for active and former military personnel.

The company offers a trove of online guidance and education. So it’s not just a matter of do you qualify or not. Veterans United will work with you from the very beginning of the process and guide you along the path of finding the right home, getting your credit in shape, and selecting the best possible VA loan for your situation. A top choice for all the different types of VA loans.

Thanks Veterans United for assisting us in obtaining a loan for a home we love. The website is simple and easy to navigate. The staff kept us informed either by email or phone calls. The underwriting wasn't a terrible process and went quicker than we thought it would. We were able to close sooner than expected. We would highly recommend Veterans United for a home loan.

Veterans United put together the most awesome team of truly dedicated, concerned people, putting them in a league of their own. They made me feel like I had an entire fellowship of dedicated team mates working towards getting me into my new house. I would gladly invite them all over and prepare a feast for them to show my appreciation. They left me feeling an indebtedness for their personal commitment to my getting a new home. god bless each and everyone for their work on my behalf. May they be prosperous in all their endeavors.

Veterans United but me and my family needs first and foremost. When we decided to buy a house, it was done in less than a month. The loan officers work after hours and on the week-ends to get it done.

I applied for a Mortgage, was approved for the loan! Found a house that would be suitable for my family, had a closing date, realtor was told everything was good to go by VU Loan Officer! Days later my loan amount was dropped 35,000 dollars, from the original amount I qualified for. In the same breathe he said he doesnt think it was going to work, not even attempting to send my loan to underwriting, I was then told my loan amount was dropped another 10,000 ! How was that even possible! Needless to say as a Veteran, I thought the soul purpose of any organization with "Veteran" attached to it would help veterans, not drag them through the mud, tell you soft hits on your credit are harmless,... Hi Waltri, I am sorry that you had to go through that emotional roller coaster. I would like to be able to pull your file so I can see where this communication went off the tracks. Without having knowledge of your file (I was not able to locate with your public information) the only thing I can assume as to the (2x) price drop would be tied to the apprised value of the home. In order for me to dive into this for you and really dig in, I will need to you please email your contact information that you had used to apply to clientadvocates@veteransunited.com and I will be able to pull your file and review for potential training opportunities or corrective action. We do strive to deliver great service while helping veterans and service members use their loan benefit. Client Advocates are in office from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Central Time, and messages received outside those hours will be answered on the next business day. Claire S., Client Advocate
