Humana is a health insurance company founded in Louisville Kentucky in 1961. It offers individual health and life insurance plans, as well as military healthcare services and wellness programs to over 13 million customers nationwide. Humana Dental Insurance Review

Humana is one of the country's largest providers of dental insurance. They provide dental insurance for individuals, groups and employers. There are no pre-certification requirements and a co-payment option is offered. 

What's included with Humana Dental?

HumanaOne Dental Preventive Plus

This dental PPO plan offers low deductibles, no copayments, and provides 100% coverage for many preventive procedures. This plan does not require a dentist selection.

HumanaOne Dental Value plan (C550 and HI215)

These dental prepaid plans have low copayments for many dental procedures and no waiting periods. Both plans require you to select a primary dentist.

HumanaOne Loyalty Plus Plan

This dental plan rewards members for loyalty by increasing benefits from years one to three, with increasing coverage on services like routine exams, root canals and crowns, a one-time deductible for as long as you are on the plan, and no copayments or waiting periods. You can go to the dentist you prefer with the comfort of knowing this plan pays the same percentage of the cost no matter which dentist you visit.

HumanaOne Simple Choice Plan

This dental plan is simple to understand with fixed costs for services and no deductibles. You are not required to select a dentist for enrollment, and you have the choice of the general dentist you prefer from over 170,000 providers in the HumanaOne Dental Simple Choice network.

Fine Print

Average costs the patient will pay per procedure with an in-network provider are based on averages across Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas, Phoenix, and Pittsburgh.

General anesthesia, implants, and/or cosmetic dentistry are not discounted services.

 

Summary

Their website NEVER works. You would think for a company that makes so much money they would actually have IT fix it! But no, this will go on for months with no website access! And when you call....hahaa you will be on hold for atleast an hour before someone answers! THE WORST

I've had Humana for the last year. Very limited provider coverage for a major metro area of Kansas. The provider we finally found was forced to first submit claims to our medical insurance which publicly displays it does not provide dental care coverage. Then Humana would require changes and documentation of service codes to pay the provider claims. It often took as along as 6 months for the provider to receive payment in accordance with their contract with Humana. Guess who paid the interest on the bill...You go it - Me! Their customer service was awful, usually speaking with someone who obviously was following their standard denial coaching or failing to understand common English.... Read More

Our Company has a company dental plan with Humana. THE WORST EVER. They cancelled us in May - with no notification until 7/10. HOWEVER..... each and every payment from our company has cleared the bank and was deposited into a Humana account. And even though they received the May, June and July payments.....they just kept the money - and continued the cancellation....that took two months to notify. And then there is the foreign call center.......OH GOD. They give you three different stories each time you call. I got this insurance and canceled , which was no charge and no contract, yet when I cancelled a couple of days after still being billed and no credit. Now having to call my bank on fraudulent charge. Worst company ever!!!

I have dental insurance with humana. I got it through via benefits. I still have not received my insurance card. I have called you 2 times about it. You promised to send it to me both times. Both times you only sent me info about my insurance, but no insurance card. I have received my card with everyone else but you. I am about to cancel my insurance with you and go with someone else. I am tired of this unnessary run around that you are putting me through. Why do you promise to send me my card 2 times, but for some reason, you fail to do somethin so simple? ************************HUMANA SCAM SAVING DENTAL PLAN********************************************* If you check the list of doctors on the web, you will see a list that is not up to date, call the place and they say the doctor does not work anymore. If you call the customer service to get the updated list , they will tell you that there is no list¡¡¡. How it works ... You must venture to go to a site to see if they give or not the discount You pay for a lottery ticket not for a service, if you are lucky you get the discount....good.... if not..... you will pay 100% of the dental service. Aks for your money......sorry the enroll is not refundable¡¡¡

If I could go below zero for a review I would. I've had a claim since November 2017 for a bridge they still are not paying. I got a bridge over 20 years ago, it came out. My new dentist, in a new state did extra work to prepare the teeth and get a replacement bridge. 1st I'm told of a missing tooth clause, then I'm told I'm to old for the procedure (55 yrs) then I'm told more exasperating ridiculous excuses over several months. I pay in full out of pocket because the temporary could no longer stay in my mouth after 4 months. Finally after my agent got invoiced with many calls I get the approval for the bridge. I am so sorry to say my husband and I have had trouble since day one with this company. I paid for insurance for over a year with no way to go to the dentist without paying out of my pocket. They had placed me with a dentist in Largo Florida which is about nine hours away. Just a short commute. Finally got my insurance corrected and now my husband has been going through the same thing since September of last year. I have spoke to five different people over a seven month time frame. Even the dentist office is unclear of what Humana is doing. The dentist office spoke to a representative from Humana and they didn't know what she needed. after requesting a pre treatment estimate of benefits on 3 separate occasions from Humana Dental, we still do NOT HAVE A RESPONSE. THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE IS THE WORST I HAVE EVER DEALT WITH AND DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS COVERAGE TO ANYONE!
