Overall Rating: 4 / 5 (Very good)

Phonak offers some of the most technologically advanced hearing aids in the industry. The company has been in business for over 70 years, enjoys a good reputation and provides customers with education resources to help them make the most appropriate purchase decisions.

With a focus on high technology and innovation, Phonak prices tend to be on the high side. Since Phonak doesn't sell its hearing aids directly, but rather through hearing clinics and resellers, cost markup is also a factor in its high prices.

Phonak doesn't offer financing, but some of the resellers it works with may. Some health insurers also cover hearing aids, to be sure to consult with your provider to see whether your plan provides coverage.

Phonak Additional Services

Features and Price - 3.5 / 5

Phonak does not have prices listed anywhere on their website, explaining that the cost of hearing aids depends on the products and services that each hearing care provider offers. This is because Phonak manufactures and distributes their products, but does not sell them directly. After further inspection, we found most of their devices land in the $1,500 and $3,000 price range.

Phonak offers a free, three-minute online hearing test. The test consists of an examination for perception of low, mid, and high pitch sounds, as well a series of questions with answers ranging from "always" to "never." The test is not meant to replace a consultation with an expert, but it can provide customers with some quick information about their hearing capacity. Phonak can connect you with a hearing services provider and hearing aid reseller in your location.

Phonak has a 30-day trial offer, but only for their Lyric™ hearing aid.

Reputation - 5 / 5

Phonak enjoys an excellent BBB rating. The company doesn't fare as well on Trustpilot, where customers only give it 2.4 out 5 stars. These hearing aids (Phonak Audeo L-RL) are crap. They are about a month old. They were provided by the VA. I've had to "re-boot" one, then the other at least every other day. Now, neither one will re-boot. They are fully charged (green light on both of them,) and the volume is on max.

Your bluetooth is crap. It does not pick up on my cell phone. I have to go on cell phone and turn bluetooth on to my hearing aids before it will connect. I have a tv bluetooth from Phonak and it will sometimes connect to my hearing aids. I have a $300 radio in my car. I turn on my radio and it immediately picks up bluetooth from my cell phone and never cuts out. $300 radio bluetooth with no problems vs $4,000 hearing aid bluetooth with endless problems. ??????

Don't waste your money. One of my hearing aids died in the first couple of months. Sent it in and it was replaced. The one I got back was not paired with my existing hearing aid so now I have to make another appointment to get them both paired together so currently I'm wearing one hearing aid. I hope this doesn't happen every few months.

These are very expensive hearing aids and I expected them to be among the best, but after about a year I now find out that they do not have the telecoil app for hearing in chuches or other venues. They also do not seem to work any better than the inexpensive hearing aids from Costco at less than 1/2 the price. very disappointed in them. I guess I'll go back to Costco and write off the huge investment as a loss and lessoned learned. BTW, I did contact the company and they said they could do nothing about it.

There is no pride in workshop. They can't make a custom ear mold that is if with quality to guarantee for 3 months and one day good luck getting 6 months out of one. The hearing aids may be good themselves, but when a company sells a piece of plastic that is only ever put in and out of an ear that can't last even 6 months you know they don't have any pride in workmanship. Never a Phonak again. I need costom ear molds and $270 or more per year is far too much money for ear molds.

I hate this company. My audiologist only has limited companies to use, and now with this new pair - the batteries only last me TWO DAYS!!! That is unacceptable. I think I am still under the time frame to where I can switch for a different brand with my insurance, and although my audiologist thinks I am demanding, I don't care. This is my hearing, and my money that I had to pay out of pocket $1,800.00 and I expect to have hearing aids that last longer than two day before being annoyed with the signal to change the battery.

To save or update a program you need to shut off blue tooth pairing to the phone. Took several calls to find someone who knew this glitch. App is clumsy and you are never sure what your settings are. Even if kept running the app loses blue tooth connectivity and when you want to make a change it takes 20-40 seconds to reconnect. The auto changing drives me crazy and makes settings I don't get. Driving in car listen to the radio, get some outside noise and it adjusts vol down, you hear worse and it takes a while to reset. Same issue watching TV, wife makes kitchen noise and the aids shut down volume.

I have owned pho Al top of the line Model for over 2 years. Mine are rechargeable and no longer hold a charge more than 10-12 hours. So if I put them on 8:00 in the morning and go to a play in the evening the horns start going off indicating the battery is running down. I now have to send the device back to the factory as my audiologist can’t replace the rechargeable battery so I will be without my device for at least 2 weeks. So much for the warranty Secondly, the pairing with my iPhone 12 Pro is terrible. I very often almost daily have to do a hard reset on my phone to get it to pair properly but not for long. Pho Al said they know about the issue and trying to work with Apple that... Read More

I recently purchased a phonak earring aid. This is my third one. I also have the tv device and I am trying out the Roger Pen. My main problem is with your app. It will not allow you to save a customized change to allow you to make sound changes. It also will not allow me to keep changes I make in the Rogers Mic and after a few minutes it goes make to the Automatic setting. Until you fix this problem with the app your aid and pen are useless to me!

I bought a set of these Hearing Aids in approx 2012, from my ENT office audiology dept. , for $4,000.. I thought having a 3 year Warranty would be a plus, and thought I would get at least 12 solid years of use. But thats not the case, after about 2 years, I could see the problems, and would ask the audiologist for help. He would look at them, & test them and say nothing was wrong. But I was not hearing well with them. Then the warranty expired, and they were even worse. I struggled with them for the years that followed, halfway hearing anything but not being able to buy new ones. Now they’re both broke, and so am I.. I have genetic hearing loss, and now can’t converse with... Read More
