Scout Alarm Summary

In Conclusion

If you are looking for a basic do-it-yourself package (door coverage, motion detection, water sensors, glass break and window sensors) but with home automation options and a user-friendly system, Scout Alarm is just what you need. You won’t have an annual contract, but you will have to get a monthly or yearly subscription for professional monitoring and home automation features.

Scout manufactures their devices and customers pay for the equipment upfront and purchase the system online. The equipment comes in two colors, which is a good option for homeowners with wooden windows or darker colors in their home. The required hub is the brains of the system, and you can place it anywhere in the house. Scout also has their own security camera called the HD Indoor Camera, which features a 1080p resolution, night vision, and remote live viewing. The camera can also be used for alarm verification if you’re subscribed to a professional monitoring plan.

Customers can choose between two monthly plans or a yearly plan. The monthly plans cost $9.99 (self-monitoring) and $19.99 (pro monitoring). With the annual agreement, you can get 12 months for the price of 11. Scout has also developed hubs, keyfobs, RFID stickers, and a mobile app. The company’s system is easy to use, and a single alarm hub can monitor many sensors at a time while being plugged into a router with an ethernet cord. Also, the system setup is straightforward.

Although Scout has a limited selection of equipment compared to other competitors, the company has upfront pricing, so you know what you have to pay for. Moreover, compared to other home security systems, Scout is reasonably priced. Also, each Scout Alarm security device is under warranty for three years. Pay around a couple of hundred dollars, and you’ll have yourself a full security system with affordable monthly monitoring. In spite of the monthly plan fee requirement, Scout Alarm is an excellent option for a DIY home security system.
