Overall Rating: 2.5 / 5 (Average)

Continental offers standard long term care insurance group policies. These policies are not available for individuals, however, which limits the type of policyholder who may take advantage of their plans. Continental also limits the amount of coverage to care provided outside of nursing homes. People in assisted living facilities may find these policies lacking. (Note: Continental no longer offers long term care insurance policies. Current policies are still in effect.)

I am very disappointed in your long term policy. My mom paid on this policy over 20 years even with the outrages prices. My mom passed in June we turned in the paperwork always got lost. We did not want anyone to take care of her but us but there came a time 1 week of home care and one day of hospice and I just got a call from hospice that the long term did not pay. Mom had cancer and memory loss. I called numerous times about the waiting period and was told it would be waived due to the circumstances once again lied to. Just tried to call after 15 minutes hung up again this is very normal. I can read a policy and understand i. Will try one more time before I report you to the BBB... Read More

We have been fighting with CGI to get LTC benefits for my father's LTC for almost a year now. They ask for stuff to be faxed and then they lose it - repeatedly. Then when the entire form package has been filled out and sent, they magically come up with new forms that have to be filled out and were never sent in the first place. Then they lose those. They recently said they had issued a check for 7 months of care but are refusing to tell me where they mailed it - they said all the information I had to validate the account was incorrect, despite the fact that they had been using that identifying information for months. They told the business manager at the care home where they were... Read More

My dealings with them have been horrible . They are negligent and every person has a different answer it took over 4 months of calls to speak to a supervisor. The last 3 rate raises resulted in an astronomic amount and that is for 7 years !! They have made a series of mistakes and caused undue stress. Meanwhile my mom has given them tons of $$

Today I received a letter saying my monthly premium for CNA Long-Term Care Insurance will go up 25% as of 10.1.2021 to $114.71. Seems like their customer service office is in Haiti...beware. jj

CNA administers a Continental long term care policy and it has been terrible dealing with CNA. Call them three different times and you will get three different answers. It is almost like they don't care what they tell you, and whether it is right or wrong. One person says the benefits are exhausted on date XXX. The next day another representative admits that was an error and says the benefits actually expire on date YYY. Call one more time and the answer changes again. Want to speak with a supervisor or the care coordinator assigned to your claim? Good luck. I have called at least 10 times and I've never been able to connect with either. These are terrible people to deal with!

On 10 May I submitted invoices for an approved claim. On 11 May I called to ensure those invoices were received and submitted for payment. I was told that they were and I would see finds in 10 business days. When 14 business days had passed, I called and learned that the payment was still being processed. It has now been 6 weeks since the claim was approved - covering 4 months of care - and I will have to make a fifth out of pocket payment because of the delay in "processing".

I’m trying to file a claim. They transfer me to Intake but no one ever answers the phone. I can’t file online and no one returns my calls. What the heck am I supposed to do?

CNA is a very difficult company to deal with - They will take your money and when it is time to use the policy they will deny your claim. My family member (my mother) has paid for 20plus years and when she needed to invoke the policy they refused to pay. First of all- they claimed the caregiver was not affiliated with an agency- even though we used the same agency and same caregiver for 8 years (for my dad and they finally paid after seeking legal assistance) . Seven months later they have not paid one dime for my mother . Better off investing in stock market. I have appealed many times and lost several times. Will be seeking legal help ! Do not ever give in to this company.... Read More
