Overall Rating: 2.5 / 5 (Average)

Continental offers standard long term care insurance group policies. These policies are not available for individuals, however, which limits the type of policyholder who may take advantage of their plans. Continental also limits the amount of coverage to care provided outside of nursing homes. People in assisted living facilities may find these policies lacking. This experience has been an absolute disappointment. My father was admitted into the nursing home on March 14th, 2019. I filed a claim April 10th, 2019. After 27 phone calls, still NO results. I am constantly told, "it is approved" , but still nothing. On May 17th, I was told the payment will go out within 2 weeks. Guess what, NO check. I was in the insurance business for 42 years, (a claim adjuster). I would have been fired by now. I am SO upset about this!

Do not get CNA Insurance and affiliates (Loews Hotels, Diamond Offshore, Boardwalk, Consolidated Container Company) are sleazebags. I paid lots $$$$$$ to CNA Insurance to protect me & my business CNA Insurance keep denying coverage. CNA Insurance keep getting my premium payments and all these promises in their policy but in reality it does not work. I just lost my house, got disabled, and filed bankruptcy because CNA Insurance keep prolonging and denying my claim. CNA Insurance DENIED DENIED!! I can see from the reviews below that I am not the only customer having a frustrating experience with CNA Long Term Care. My dad purchased a policy for my mom in 1991. I am afraid to do the math to see how much my parents have invested in this policy. I have just learned that my dad did not purchase the inflation rider, so the benefit will be at 1991 levels, which is $100 per day for in home care. Of course the agent who sold dad the policy should have alerted him that as the premiums rose, the benefit did not. Now, I have phoned 2 times to start a claim and am told to wait for a phone call to "complete the claim process" after which time a nurse will be sent to confirm that there is an... Read More

t This company is dishonest, will not process claims as they should be or in a timely manner. I am contacting the Insurance Commissioner with this formal complaint as well as Texas Retired Teachers, CEO of Continental Long Term Insurance and Better Business Bureau. Any company/association that would endorse this Continental coverage is doing a disservice to their employees and retirees. Retirees especially BEWARE. Do not purchase this Long Term Care Insurance. All and many details of this coverage are not disclosed. My rating is 0.

You have a horrible offering. I am contacting the media, ncae and the insurance commissioner. You Continental will not pay any claim if the patient passes away before they utilize 90 days of care. This was not clear in any paperwork. Death prevented the 90 days. To all who have this insurance beware. If you haven’t purchased then don’t.

My policy is twenty years old . I am now retired and 71years old widow. There is almost a half a million dollars in my account with a 90 days elimination period . I called to freeze my account at this point and im being told that this is not allowed ? i should continue to pay and possibly never be able to use this that i sacrificed to pay all these years? My husband had the same policy and died in 8 weeks ,4 weeks short of ever collecting a dime. i dont plan to allow that to happen to me !! please respond to my concerns
