Summary

Pets Plus Us is a good pick for pet insurance as the company does not discriminate based on age or increase premiums based on claim history. However, annual deductibles do increase every five years but will never go up more than $100 at a time. It's also worth pointing out that Pets Plus Us' deductible only has to be fulfilled annually and not on per condition/incident basis. The company will also cover alternative treatments so long as they are administered by a licensed veterinarian.

*** REVISED *** After getting off to a bumpy start - which turned out to be due to some miscommunication by my veterinarians office and not the fault of Pets Plus Us - I was put in touch with an Advocate Pack Leader... She explained exactly why our claim was initially denied, outlined how we could appeal the decision, forwarded my appeal to a claims manager, and our claim was reassessed as payable. This was done quickly too! I submitted the letter from my veterinarian at approximately 5:30 pm and had a reassessment result before noon the next day - less than 24 hours. Now my only regret is how quickly I jumped to a negative review - I should have taken some time to settle down... Read More

Insurance companies are out to get your money and they will do everything possible to not pay out. Put your money away and forget this company. I was told, no I do not need a vet check up every year but when making a claim it was denied for the very reason.

Extremley disappointed in their cavalier attitude. Their phone message says they care… well that is not the experience I have had with them in the first month since taking a policy with them. Perviously I had always used trupanion, but thought I would support the local economy. I took out a policy on my pup. I am aware of the exclusion periods and thats fair, thus when she had a urinary infection within that period I had no concerns that she would not be covered. I am however extremley angry at them that on the visit for the tract infection I brought up to the vet that she had eat a leaf while in the garden and hacked it up but to be on the safe side can you check if there was... Worst customer service ever. I have been trying for the last 2 months to get our claim processed. Countless emails regarding extra documentation that we have already sent, which they have lost, and we are still trying to get reimbursed as per our policy. Avoid this company at all costs!

Worst decision ever! DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY! After almost 11 months of paying the monthly premium, they decided to request my dog's health history. In the meantime, after taking out insurance, my dog's blood test found that he had been exposed to Lyme disease. He's not sick and had never had any symptoms or episodes related to the disease. Even though, after almost a year paying, they decided that the insurance will not cover anything related to Lyme disease. They considered that as a pre-existing condition. All I want now is my money back. Also, they have sent me the documents with wrong information about my dog for FOUR TIMES. I believe they will use it as an excuse to no refund me if... Read More

Fantastic company, highly recommend! I use it for all 4 of my pets and have never had any issues with pay backs. Processing times leaves something to be desired but the company is so good for covering everything it does not matter!

I rarely right reviews, but I wanted to save other people from experiencing the frustration we did. My husband and I were paying into the best and most expensive option for our pet thinking this would provide good coverage. When he became ill we took him to the vet for 3 different issues. Petplus did not cover ANY of it! They took hundreds of dollars from us. They barely cover anything, this insurance is so not worth investing in.

I enrolled in an accident and illness policy on August 13, 2019 for my Manchester Terrier puppy. On February 10, 2020 she underwent a variety of tests and procedures at the University of Montreal Veterinary Hospital in St. Hyacinth, Q.C. I submitted ALL of the information, including the reimbursement request form SEVERAL times. I spoke to many service advisors until April 21, 2020. Ultimately I was informed that cardiac stenosis was a reproductive illness! Pets Plus Us refused to give me a list of exclusions, pre-existing conditions-hmm, the blind leading the blind. They did sent me a text outlining their share of the $4205.64 claim which was $0000.00. I cancelled my policy forthwith,... Read More
