Superior Vision is a vision insurance company focused on providing quality eye care and treatment, rather than simply offering savings on eyewear. Their eye care solutions are comprehensive, and on average, provide savings of 20% or more on eye-related costs.

Superior Vision makes eye care more affordable by providing eye health benefits for managed care and third-party payers.  The company helps improve vision and eye health by providing wellness eye care, medical optometry, and medical management programs.

Services and Features

Superior Vision offers eye care programs such as medical optometry, wellness eye care, and medical management. The company gives access to a wide range of services including eye care and easy claims management. Its eye insurance program promotes healthier eyesight and optimum eye care while reducing costs and improving eye care awareness.

Superior Vision manages eye health benefits for third-party payers and managed care organizations, with the help of government-sponsored programs such as Health Insurance Exchanges, CHIP, Medicaid, and Medicare Advantage.

Unlike other companies, Superior Vision does not actively offer contact lens, eyeglasses, or partner with optical retailers. The company focuses on eye health, wellness, and medical management. However, its vision plan covers basic lens and frames while progressive lenses such as lined bifocals and trifocals are covered in full. Basic lenses are considered uncoated glass lens or plastic.

Superior Vision offers 3 different products for individual vision plans; Essential, Classic, and Premier. Each plan covers annual eye examinations, eyeglasses, contact lenses instead of eyeglasses, and discounts on Lasik surgery.

I also give Superior Vision of Texas a low rating. I paid $16 a month for my vision plan, and when I went to get my eye exam, Superior Vision only paid $25 toward the claim. What a rip-off! They also paid hardly anything toward my glasses, I ended up paying 90 percent of the cost. Never again will I use Superior Vision. The money I spent on the vision plan was a total waste, and I could have saved that money to more than pay for my vision exam and glasses. They are just out to take people's money. I would give them a zero rating.

A better name for the is Inferior Vision Insurance! All of the below negative comments are totally accurate - they do not want to pay, they lie and say they have mailed a check and it never comes, they deny claims for being out-of-network even when they are not supposed to. I had to file a grievance to even get them to admit they owed me and they still have not paid me. They are a big joke!

It took a month to get a form for reimbursement, they sent it to my PO box as I don't get mail at my street address. They sent a check to my street address which I never received. I've called 3x and been on hold 30 min each time. They said to call my insurance co. which I did to change the address, it was never changed. Finally I gave up which is probably what they wanted me to do. They suck.

Working with Superior Vision has been a nightmare. I have had to make multiple calls and talk to multiple people and no one knows whats going on. I was told in the beginning that they could not find it because it takes up to 30 days to get in the system. They could not even tell me if they recieved the claim or not. So, I had to wait 30 days to even find out if they got it. Then after 30 days, when they said they didn't get it, they asked me to email it in. I asked if I could email it in the first place, but was told mailing a hard copy was more efficient. It has been two months and they finally have the claim in the system but up until today they couldnt figure out why it was not... Read More

I have wasted multiple hours of time trying to get a $100-$130 reimbursement. I call, they tell me I need to speak to a supervisor, they tell me they need to place me on a 1-2 minute hold while they find one... they come back every few minutes for 30 minutes to say they are still waiting... then finally say a supervisor will call me back. BUT THEY NEVER DO. I have done this 5+ times, never received a call back. I also tried to contact them through their webpage but then they just tell me to call customer service. Absolutely infuriating and quite possible the worst customer service experience I've ever had. Not sure where this 98% member satisfaction rate comes from that they boast on... Read More

I would advise you to please seek elsewhere for coverage. They do not cover anything! it costs my husband and I over 300$ for a RX of contact lenses, plus 114 each for the exam. They do not cover glasses plus the cost of contacts. I am super disappointed and I will be unenrolling the next open enrollment at work. They allow up to 100 for frames and there are hardly any frames around that price these days. This company is terrible. There is NOTHING superior about them! Superior Vision insurance is a real scam.

Please don't use this company. They do not cover anything. This past open enrollment in 2021, my family signed up for Superior Vision through a top hospital. Now I've been getting my eyes examined since I was 10 years old and my copay has always been $10. Since I am in my 20s and healthy, the opthamologist said I only need to have my eyes examined every 2 years. In 2020 I went to get my eyes exmained with the old insurance and copay was $10 as per usual. Fast forward to present. I went to get my eyes examined, my routine eye exam on Monday 3/7/22 and I received a bill from the clinic for $180. Superior Vision did not pay a dime. They are "self pay". So I call them this morning and spoke to... Read More

After denying a claim because Costco was out of network; they said that the claim used up by glasses coverage for the year. Talk about insurance company BS. How does a claim that they paid nothing for count against your yearly limit! I will drop this coverage at the next cycle.

I am extremely disappointed with my Superior Vision coverage. I recently went to my eye doctor who prescribed me new glasses. The following procedures done were: Eye Exam, Refraction, Frames, Glasses, Progressive Lens, Polycarbonate Lens, Anti-reflective coating. I paid $425 out of pocket for 1 procedure which was NOT covered by Superior Vision and the rest was my cost on the glasses. Then, I get a bill from Superior Vision for an additional $446 for the above mentioned list. My open enrollment through my employer is this November and you can guarantee I will be finding a new carrier for my vision insurance.
