Overall Rating: 3.8 / 5 (Very good)

Empower's personal sound amplification products (PSAPs) come with an excellent list of features that helps users easily adjust their settings according to their hearing needs. As amplification devices go, they are both comfortable and discreet. But like all over-the-counter amplification devices they are not meant to replace professionally fitted hearing aids, especially for those with severe hearing loss. But for most who suffer some degree of hearing difficulty, LifeEar BOOST can be an inexpensive and quick solution.

Empower Product Offerings

Hearing Aid Style - 4 / 5

Empower BOOST and ACTIVE feature digital technology and layered noise reduction. BOOST is similar to a behind the ear (BTE) hearing aid as it sits behind the ear, is nearly invisible, and can easily blend with various hair colors and skin tones. ACTIVE is more or less an in the canal (ITC) model where the entire device sits within the bowl of the ear. Both offerings have adjustable amplification and sound level program settings that can be changed with a single switch.

Both of Empower's products are amplification devices and not true hearing aids. They help improve speech intelligibility, enhance sound discreetly, and reduce fatigue associated with the inability to focus on certain sounds. Hearing amplifiers feature 12-band processing and digital amplification to boost the audibility of conversations. Amplifiers also work as noise blockers and amplify frequencies while canceling out background noises.

Worked well from May 30, 2020 to July 5, 2020. Then quit working. Tested with a number of new batteries. Return policy is 30 days. Total failure.

I have been calling and emailing Empower for three weeks. The answering service always has the same message: “We have had a late volume of calls. You will have a 4 minute wait for your call to be answered.” My calls have never been answered. I have emailed — again no response. My problem: the batteries don’t even last a day. This needs to be fixed! Customer Service is very poor.

I have an add from the magazine AAAP that announces you can try it for $199,99. That is false advertising since it does not indicate it is only for one set. When I go to your webpage it is entire different prizes:$299,99 or 279,99, but no explanation for what these prizes cover. Then add to this some kind of boost. I have also seen a prize: $77,99 per month, but no indication of what that covers. You have to buy a new set of batteries every week. Your information is far from acceptable and your bragging about that it is so cheap, does not hold water. When I compare to Eargo, which at the first glance seems considering more expensive, I'm not sure it holds when you add up all the different... Read More
