Overall Rating: 4.9 / 5 (Excellent)

Select Home Warranty’s lack of a term maximum is very attractive, especially when considering their comparatively generous appliance and system limits.

They do have a waiting period for service and require maintenance records, which can be off-putting to some customers. Select is an excellent choice for customers who value savings and flexibility.

I submitted a claim and they did respond as advertised. The plumber came over and his words to me and written in the diagnoses were "Softener has gone bad due to normal wear and tear". They denied the repair because of the next statement. "Inoperable condition can be fixed due to overhauling of unit. For overhaul of unit $575". I dressed up the plumber's spelling. He spelled inoperable (inopperable), lack (lake), and maintenance (maintence). He also made overhaul two words. In the letter sent to me from Select home warranty, the manager said that lack of maintenance was the cause of malfunction. On the phone when I called select home warranty about the denial, the lady... Read More

Don't waste you money and your time with this company. Trust me, they are terrible. They will connect you with service providers who don't have working relationships with Select. You will wait a couple of days to get the name of someone to call. You then call them and they tell you they don't work for Select. You then have to call Select and wait a few more days for them to find someone else. This happened to me 2 out of 3 times. You will spend way too much time on the phone telling them over and over what you need. Seems like I am doing all the work except actually making the repair, which is not completely true because for one of my three claims I did in fact make the repair... Read More

Select Home Warranty - BEWARE! We have paid this company $301.64 since April of this year (2019) with zero satisfactory service. Countless hours have been wasted on the phone with Select Home Warranty trying to get repairs / resolution and reimbursement for two claims (Plumbing Stoppage which we had to wait 7 weeks for the repair and ultimately had to get our own repair company; and Water Heater replacement). The Select Home Warranty website indicates they are number one in customer satisfaction, available 24/7 and have a large network of professionals throughout the country. Quote, “We’ll repair or replace your covered item. You pay a minimal service fee. Simple as that.” They... Read More

The customer service is always very polite in answering my questions and all being patient with my frustration. They take time to review my claim and where to go from there. I be renewing my policy agin with SHw

Please read my review. I paid $2000 for the “platinum coverage plan”. 1st and only claim I have made: Process started 3 months ago with a simple clothes washer leak. We paid our $45 service fee. The tech knew that it was a bearing issue however they replaced my suspension rods so their company would at least get paid. If they had to replace the bearings they wouldn’t get the job because the washer would be replaced instead of fixed, since it would have cost the warranty company too much. Over the next two months we had to call multiple times to get anyone to come look at our washer with technicians asking for additional $45 service fee charges. 2nd Technician got mad that we wouldn’t... The customer representative did handle the claim call much better than past contacts with the company. Claim was made October 11th and to date no repair company has taken our claim request. While Select did email that we could obtain someone ourself since no repair company has responded, we are not comfortable doing this as we did this previously on another claim and Select did not honor and pay our claim. Seven weeks waiting.....

Run away! I have been with other warranty companies and got suckered into Select because of the low monthly fee and low service charge. What a waste of money. I just had another claim denied because the electrical outlet that is not working is an exterior outlet and they don't cover anything "outside the living area." It's not like it's 50' from the house, it comes out of the inside and is screwed to the exterior of the wall. Other warranty companies cover the whole expense of a repair. SHW only covers the parts and you have to pay for the labor. You would think they would make that a little more prevalent in their contract (which I read) however it is only mentioned once at the... Representatives are very kind and compassionate to your situation but I wish the reimbursement for replacement value to be higher than they give. I certainly do not want the best on the market but even the lower end models cost a lot more than allotted.
