Cancellation Policy

Select reserves the right to cancel the service contract in the event of fraudulent conduct or misrepresentations by the customer, failure to make the required payments, or upon agreement.

The customer may cancel the agreement within 30 days from the order date of the agreement and will be entitled to a full refund only if no service has been provided under the contract.

After 30 days, the customer may receive a pro-rated refund for the non-discounted annual plan cost. The customer will be charged a $75 cancellation fee, plus any service expenses incurred by Select Home Warranty.

I was so disappointed in American Home Shield that I started shopping fo a better company, one that puts customer service first. I researched and decided on Select Home Warranty.

I have been in communication with the claims department at Select Home Warranty through email and phone for three months now. There has been no progress in the reimbursement of our washing machine repair. Via email, I was approved for a cash reimbursement on June 8th ("We have processed your claim... You have been approved for a cash reimbursement... which you may use towards repair or replacement of your current unit." Via email, I sent in the invoice on June 11th. The "reimbursement agreement form" was not sent to us until three weeks later (after an email reminder). On July 6th, an email confirmed that "a reimbursement check has been processed. Awesome company! I have been with them for 4 years now and I can say that they have absolutely overpassed the expectations we have with warranty companies. Select Home Warranty has proved themselves over the years for having competent people. From those people who take in calls and emails for claims down to their repairmans, everyone is just awesome!

Excellent service! I got the chance to work with Gino, a local repair person last week. He was sent by Select to check why our pipes leaking. When he came he immediately assessed the issue and started working right away. He knows what he’s doing and I couldn’t agree more with my husband when he said that Gino is equipped with the knowledge and skills a repair person should have. Good Job Gino!

My sick mother - in - law lives with me and my husband and having a non working AC is something that makes her more uncomfortable. My husband and I submitted a claim with SHW to get someone fix our AC. I specifically advised them that we need a repairman out soon because of my mother-in-laws health condition. The repairman came in the next day and was able to fix the unit. Thank you Select for the immediate response and for taking good care of us.

Doing the right thing even if no one is looking is integrity. I was able to work with James, Select’s repairman, when I had issues with my sink. While he’s checking the problem, I got a call from my husband stating that he can’t pick my son at the school due to some emergency meetings. So without even thinking, I told James that I will leave him first to get my son and be back in less than an hour. When I get back, James is still in the premise waiting. The sink problem was fixed and he already cleaned up his mess. I thank you James for your integrity!

I had Select Home Warranty for a year. During that time I had a microwave die, a water heater leak, a dryer stop working, and a garage door belt break. They did not cover any of the water heater, I still have a broken microwave in my kitchen, and service was so bad for the dryer that I ended up fixing it myself. The garage door belt was repaired and the only positive experience. My contract ended in April. Since then I received 5+ sales calls per day for a month. The calls started up again labor day weekend and after 5 calls in one day I asked to be removed from their call list. I also told them I was turned off by their aggressive sales pitch. I am not sure how Select can receive those good rating. BBB.org has tons of complaints and I just regret I have not checked BBB.org before purchasing the 5 years service plan with Select. First of all, the garage opener was broken few weeks after moving into the house I just purchased. I need to call Select and vendor back and forth because vendor did not receive work order and Select kept saying they already faxed the order. Then vendor spent 10 minutes and determining opener needs to be replaced. The same model is about $550 for replacement. Then we spent one hour waiting for Select to decline the claim! My husband was assigned in Asia and he has to stay there for at least 6 months. He left 3 months ago and unfortunately on his 2nd month, our heating system broke. I have no idea how to check what the problem is, as it was my husband who always takes care of these issues. Then I realized we have a contract with Select. Tho I am not sure if the problem is covered. I called to submit a claim and ask for someone to check the problem asap. To make the long story short, they came, diagnosed the issue and found out that the problem is covered by our plan. In two days, the heating system was fixed and I am grateful to Select for their help while my husband is away.
