Overall Rating: 4.9 / 5 (Excellent)

Select Home Warranty’s lack of a term maximum is very attractive, especially when considering their comparatively generous appliance and system limits.

They do have a waiting period for service and require maintenance records, which can be off-putting to some customers. Select is an excellent choice for customers who value savings and flexibility.

I just became a member of Select Home Warranty today and so far it's been a very positive experience. The Sales person I spoke with gave me confidence that I'll receive very good service. My daughter and her husband has this service and is pleased so far.

I called to get information about my new home warranty. He was polite but as soon as I declined to pay for the the plan up front( I chose monthly) he rushed me off the phone.

Placed a phone call and person was nice and helpful. My issue turned out to be something that wasn't worth fixing, so I was given a credit toward the purchase of a new one. I thought that was a fair thing to do considering I was trying to have them repair my ceiling fan. No other issues at this point.

I bought this house in 2014, and my sister advised me to get a policy with warranty companies to cover my appliances and home systems. At first I told her that I used to have a policy with a warranty company and I never had a successful claim with them. But my sister insisted and told me to get a plan with Select Home Warranty. She has Select and she wants me to try it as well. So to make the long story short, I called and signed up with them. I initially signed up for a Gold plan, just for a year just to make my sister happy. But even before that 1 yr contract expires, I called them back to upgrade my plan to Platinum and made them renew my contract. Why? In that 1 year period, I... Read More

I had the seller of my house pay for this home warranty. It seems to be a very good one. The only problem (which probably is not that of the company's) is that I assumed that it would be active as soon as I bought my house but it went into effect a couple of weeks or more later. Probably bad communication between buyer and seller and real estate agents but I did not receive anything from SHW showing me that I was being covered, proof of coverage, etc.

This is the first time I've used Select and I'm not sure whether or not I'll stay with them. I checked the rating for all home warranty co's I could find and Select was said to be first and so on. I called and purchased a 3 yr plan including additional coverages such as pool and others. As of yesterday I had to call in 3 repairs, for appliances that should not have problems for years but it is what it is. When I called in all 3 claims, the rep was very courtesy and professional. It was a long process and all was fine, until I got an email from Select advising that they did not cover clothes washer dispenser or repair them. Unfortunately, either I or the rep miscommunicated and I was... Read More

The service representative I talked to was awful. I asked her (on the 3rd call to them) why they would only pay for the part and not the labor to repair my refrigerator. She referred to section 9 of the policy agreement which only references cases where the appliance was misused or poorly maintained... neither which applied in my case. She then referred me to section 8. Section 8 states that installation would not be covered if the appliance had to be replaced. But they're not replacing the appliance. They are only repairing it. When I challenged her on these responses, she totally ignored my questions and dismissed my concerns. So for every part that needs to be replaced on any... Read More
