Overall Rating: 4.9 / 5 (Excellent)

Select Home Warranty’s lack of a term maximum is very attractive, especially when considering their comparatively generous appliance and system limits.

They do have a waiting period for service and require maintenance records, which can be off-putting to some customers. Select is an excellent choice for customers who value savings and flexibility.

This company is worthless. I called in an electrical problem on March 17, 2016 and today is March 30th and Select still hasn't sent a contractor to repair my electrical problems. I would hate to see if this was an urgent matter. I call and ask for an update every other day and they tell me they are looking for a contractor. On March 28th they told me I could locate my own contractor to come and diagnose the problem, but not make any repairs until we contacted them to see if the repair would fall under conditions in my warranty plan. What kind of way is that to handle business?? When I call and ask for a Supervisor I am always told there isn't one available and that someone will... Read More

DO NOT PURCHASE A HOME WARRANTY FROM THIS WORTHLESS COMPANY!!!!! Submitted a claim on Saturday and was told I would receive an email 24 to 48 hours with contractor information. Monday comes around and receive a call saying they're processing my claim and would have to wait another 24 hours before getting a contractor. Its Tuesday and still no email. I called to get status and now being told that my claim is being denied because of some BS loop hole. WORST home warranty in the planet. Spend the extra $50 to $75 and go with Landmark or American Home Shield

i trusted select home warranty. they called me and advised that if i went with them they would cover for my the time i had left, no problem. did they? no way. out of my control, my hot water heater went bad a few day after my thirty day agreement took effect. they sent out reps, who wanted $500.00 from which i was to only pay a $45.00 deductible. then when i refused to pay the $500.000 they advised the heater was not covered. why? i had to have the coverage for six months, excuses after excuses. i was advised i could cancel at any time. i cancelled and they refused to cancel. 75.00 fee. please do not even consider this scam of a company, unless you can wait six months after your thirty... THEY ARE A HORRIBLE COMPANY. They will fight any way possible to NOT cover anything, customer service is horrible (I had people laughing and be very rude to have to look anything up) It took 8 months to get a $135 check for 2500.00 bill to replace an AC unit. AND NOW I have a contractor calling me saying they are going to put a lien on my house because Select Home Warranty won’t pay them for the services they did on my house. Please consider this review before going with them.

I took out a warranty with Select Home Warranty I advised them I had a warranty company, they told me if I came with them they would insure me day one, so I did. Unfortunately my hot water tank went bad, they sent out two service reps. They went outside for about 15 minutes. TYhen the company called me. advised I had to pay upfront $507.16. And they could install in the next day or two. I them advised them I would buy heater myself and submit bill. I could not do that because a qualified tech would have to install for me to be covered. The tank could only be covered up to $500.00 Ok, No problem. Went off the phone several times. Now a leaking tank cannot be covered. Held on... Read More

I purchased the home warranty in April. I had a problem with my pool pump, they didnt cover it because I was in a grace period. I fixed it myself, they reimbursed me 150.00 bucks 8 months later. Fair enough. The second time I called my toilet was and the technician could not snake out the foreign object. The technician told us we needed a new toilet. At this point I am ok with this because it should be covered. I call back and they tell me they don't cover camera scopes which they said the technician told them I needed. I found it hard to believe that i needed a camera as I have some experience with plumbing. I then call the technician back and he said that he never told them... Read More

When you get a quote, a computer posing as a person will come online. It appears as iff you are chatting with a human. You are not. When you try to sign up for the plan, you are prompted to call a phone number, even after putting in your payment. When you call the phone number given it hangs up on you. When you finally do get a human they are rude and hang up on you. When a sales person calls you back and you tell them about it, and tell them you are no longer interested in their plan, you are hung up on! My thought is if this is their idea of customer service, then you know what you will get with their plan! Hung up on!

I was about to get a quote and asked the question of the coverage especially the caps on the replacement unit such as A/C. The sales rep on the phone he told me that yes there is a cap of $2000 on the AC. I knew that it is impossible to get the AC replaced for $2K so I asked how is it going to work. He said they buy replacement units at wholesale price at $2000 and I should be fine. When I asked will I pay any money from my pocket if this happens, he replied with exactly these words "This is only $400 policy, yo-yo. Have a good day" and he hang up. If this is what they do during the sales stage I wonder what happens when I make a claim!

The positive? They have responded promptly to my 2 service requests. The negative? In each case, I had to pay in advance and get reimbursed. This is not standard procedure with any home warranty company. When my garbage disposal broke, they said they don't send technicians, just reimburse for a new one. When the heating element went out in my oven they tried to send a repair person, but the company they had me contact said that they no longer do business with SHW because they have trouble getting paid. Join the club. It took 3 phone calls and several weeks to get the $75 for my garbage disposal. I had my oven repaired in October, and as of today (Feb23) I am STILL WAITING for... Read More

Those were the worst company that I have ever been dealt with. we had problem with fridge and it took several months for them to send somebody to just look at it and when the tech showed up after 4 months, he disappeared again and never showed up (BTW he was not a polite person) and our fridge was not fixed until I switched to another warranty company. It was waste of my money. If you want to purchase from warranty from them, make sure you have read policy carefully because THEY JUST PAY FOR THE PARTS, NOT FOR INSTALLATION! (i.e. in our case, defrost system was not working properly and they told us they will pay $68 for the part (the estimated cost of installation was $300)
