Overall Rating: 4.9 / 5 (Excellent)

Select Home Warranty’s lack of a term maximum is very attractive, especially when considering their comparatively generous appliance and system limits.

They do have a waiting period for service and require maintenance records, which can be off-putting to some customers. Select is an excellent choice for customers who value savings and flexibility.

Paid to have a Home Warranty with this Company. Filed a claim on a defective water heater and was denied repairs. Had to uy a new hot water heater myself (So much for he home Warranty). Filed a claim last month with circuit breaker issues in my electrical panel. Select Home Warranty send out a electrical company to check. Electrician told me that my whole electric box needs replaced as one of the circuit breakers was shorting out. after almost a month with numerous calls to Select Home Warranty I was told the claim would cover $200 of a $3,000 cost of replacement for the panel. This is the worst Home Warranty Company that I could have imagined. Their customer care is a joke. Most useless... Read More

I recently dropped First American for Select Home, and I wished I hadn't. These guys are the worst and the contractors they hire are terrible with customer service and jacked up prices. Recently needed a sink drain leak repaired. Plumber wanted $264.00 (after I paid the $60 call fee). $180 of that the warranty won't pay because it is "installation" which according to the contract they do not pay. After trying to get the plumber back out for almost a month, I was finally told that Select Home had not yet authorized the repair. Once they did, it took the plumber another 3 weeks (with me calling every few days) to get me back on the schedule but to ensure I knew the warranty did not... Read More

Had a fan motor go out and the defrost board on the outside unit , mind you I have a upstairs and downstairs unit, one was freezing up and the other's fan was not working, the tech came out and run said he did not have the parts on hand and said he is gonna send them the bill and labor for the new parts. I have did not have heat upstairs for three weeks, I kept calling they gave me the run around about three years of maintenance records, who has records if you have not had any problems with the unit so they we will give you $150.00 towards the repair, ok who pays the rest OH! you do mine you the bill was $496.00. Why pay for a warranty every month and they do not take care of what a home... Read More

First claim, DENIED!! I even paid for 3 yrs up front to become a “VIP” member! On the phone I was told I pay $60 for the service call, they cover the rest! Beware, there are clauses!! I was told that the coverage does not become effective for 30 days once you sign up. I turned in my claim on day 58 and it was denied using clause 10.1. They do not cover certain repairs in the first 30 days! Not the first first 30 days, the second first 30 days! See the first 30 days is a “waiting” period. Then you have the first 30 days of coverage!

Stay away from this company! They never send their contractors even it was told when we bought the policy. When you called your own technician they never approved the amount which you paid...they always come with some kind of own explanation. You can't even cancel the policy in between they will ask for more money if cancel it. It's a big trap, not sure how they are publicizing that they are 5 stars. In my opinion, they are not even 1 star. I filed claim in Aud 2020 and its still not settled, I send the invoice and even after getting verbal approval of full amount during authorization they send only 50% of invoice amount and they are not ready or work with customer to resolve the issue.... RUN, don't walk from Select Home Warranty. I have been with them for a year this month. For the review reader's convenience, I'll bullet point the problems. • Called about fridge making a noise. (Recorded noise on my phone.) • The call center is not in the US. They made a ticket. • Sent out a local repairman, a young kid, to look at it. ($60 visit) • Repair guy didn't know what was wrong. He took the back off the fridge. • I made a video of the noise recording from where it came. • Resent video again to repair guy. • No action from the repair guy or Select Home Warranty after much time. • I had surgery. • Freezer went out. All the food in prep for surgery was ruined. •... Read More

H & B Wright Select Home Warranty finds every excuse in the world not to cover any problem. Our 18 year old ac unit broke. The compressor is drawing to many amps and blew the 50 amp breaker. this means it is working to hard. SHW says it is an electrical problem and not covered, IT'S WORE OUT !!! help pay for it that's why I bought the policy. We're talking 8000.00 they should pay 2000.00 and be FAIR

I submitted a claim for repair of my ice maker in my Refrigerator and they denied the claim. The Refrigerator is covered, but the iceman is not. Last I checked, it was part of the Refrigerator. They said they would cover the ice maker if I paid more money!!
