Overall Rating: 3.8 / 5 (Very good)

In contrast to many moving companies who disclose few facts about their operations and services, Allegiance Moving and Storage presents consumers with detailed, specific information about what it does and how much it costs. The company also makes clear that it is a broker, not a mover, unlike some of its competitors who seem to blur that distinction. These are encouraging, pro-consumer practices. Since the company is a newer player in the moving brokerage business, it remains to be seen whether it can successfully navigate the challenges posed by being in the middle between the consumer and the mover. Based on what we've seen, however, we'd be very tempted to give them a try.

Allegiance offers all the services that a state-to-state residential move might require: assistance with packing, storage, and auto transport to name the big three. However, since Allegiance is a broker, the services rendered by each mover it partners with will necessarily vary. Consumers are advised to inquire about what services are--and are not--offered by the company that actually performs their move.

Allegiance Moving and Storage gets high marks from us for the transparency of its operations. The company's website very clearly lays out charges and options and offers firm estimates. These disclosures give us confidence in its operations. However, the company has only been in business for about a year, so unsurprisingly there isn't a lot of information available about its reputation among its customers. To date in 2019, the company has had 16 complaints lodged against it with the Department of Transportation. Most of these concerned problems with estimates and final charges, shipping documents, and pickup/delivery. The company's reviews on the BBB website are mixed, though a majority are largely positive. Allegiance has no reviews on Trust Pilot. Since it is a broker, not a mover, Allegiance's reputation is largely dependent on the behavior of its moving contractors. Careful consumers should investigate the reputation of the mover Allegiance proposes contracting their move to; that will yield a much more useful picture of customer satisfaction levels.

As a broker rather than a mover, Allegiance doesn't have a fleet of its own. As your advocate through this entire process, Allegiance works closely with the carriers that are in their network and prices and sells the loads according to the carriers' tariffs and the accepted rates. Allegiance has a five-step carrier vetting process. Consumers who are interested in finding out about the number of drivers and trucks their mover has should look up that information once they are told which mover Allegiance plans to assign the project to.

First and foremost, I'd like to thank the entire team at Allegiance Moving & Storage that facilitated my move from Las Cruces to El Paso. The movers called ahead, as I was informed they would, assessed my belongings to match my inventory list, and efficiently began the protection/loading process. I was kept apprised by the customer service team when I would expect delivery and within 6 days, my items arrived in the same condition they left. The guys were professional and wore masks, per my request. I highly recommended Allegiance Moving and Storage for any move. If I should have to uproot my family again., Allegiance will be the only company I contact to assist with a process that I... Read More

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!! I strongly believe that most of the reviews for this company are fake. If you see them on any type list of good movers or 10 best movers type thing, it's most likely a paid ad. Things were great up until moving time, and then movers canceled on me twice after I spent hours waiting for them. I should've canceled that move at that point. When they did pick up, it was a different company than Allegiance and they also charged me an extra $1650 to move my stuff and I couldn't even bring everything with me, I had to throw things out! Things I could've sold if I knew. They also had little respect for my belongings, I had to put together my tv remote they threw down... Read More

Consumers beware!!! This company is totally a fraud!!! I'm not sure where the good ratings came from. They are most likely fake!!! I'm taking them to court. Below is my recent nightmare experience: I booked a move from Portland, OR to Seattle, WA through Allegiance Moving and Storage (DOT # 3183105, MC # 128059). They never told me they were merely a broker, not really a moving company. They quoted me $2,599 for the list of items I provided and charged me $961.99 deposit. A few days after I paid the deposit, they told me the price would be increased to $3,098 due to COVID and increased gas price and made me sign another estimate. On the day of the move, two movers showed up with a... Read More

DO NOT USE THEM EVER FOR ANYTHING! THEY HAVE MADE THIS EXPERIENCE A NIGHTMARE. literally the worst company I have ever dealt with in my entire life. It took them 3 days to move us out of a 2-bedroom apartment not because it took that long but because they barely worked, did not wrap anything, did not dissemble the furniture even though that was part of the contract. We got a partial delivery of about 10% of our items, almost every piece of furniture was damaged because it was not properly wrapped. We still have not gotten most of our belongings and it has been over 2 months. Every time I call and complain and try to get answers at best, they say not their problem at the worst they... our prospective move was cancelled. I called and spoke to someone, male, who told me that since we weren't moving at all he could refund half of our deposit (refund to be $1300) and he said the check would be mailed right out. I never received a check so I called today and got some rude woman who claimed I never called and told them it was cancelled (lie), and I wasn't due anything that my whole deposit of $2600 was NOT refundable nor was any part of that. These people are liars! Do not use them! Valerie Jagneaux

Here is how the con worked in my case. My house was packed and in a storage unit. They indicated that the price is based on the square footage. Since my stuff was in storage, this is an easy calculation. We calculated my price based on my storage space being 100% full when in fact it was less than 75% full. I paid a large deposit and scheduled. They waited until days before the pick-up and called me to request an inventory of the storage space. No problem. I start to list the items in the space. While I was still listing items they interrupted me and said it would be almost $2000.00 more than the contracted amount. Clearly they intended to do this regardless of the items on my... Read More

Contrary to its name, this company is solely a broker - they do not actually move any items - and does not clearly explain this during any conversation(s) had with them. I was originally estimated $2746.85 for a move from VA to NY, which then was increased to $3021.18 when I had to call prior to the scheduled move to adjust inventory - as they did not call themselves to confirm the inventory as they said they would. When the actual movers arrived I was quoted $4607.18 total on the day of the move, leaving me with no choice but to pay the movers' estimate. I disputed the fluctuation with Allegiance whom gave no logical explanation to the increase in charges and told me the decision from... Read More

I am not a customer, but I have called Allegiance 21 times--that is the exact number from my call history and does not include other calls and emails made by my other family members--to try to help my parents and sister (who are customers) with a very difficult situation. They hired Allegiance to help them move from Arizona to Florida. I received one and only callback during that time on October 18th from Monica, who was only calling to correct a mistake she made over the phone a few minutes before, and who then proceeded to berate me for the second time that day. Allegiance hired Royal Star to do my parents' move. When the movers showed up, they charged $22,000 more than the original... Read More

Be aware of this company. They are a complete sham. They low ball an estimate to you and then the actual moving company comes out and gives you a much higher price. I hired them and was quoted $6300 and gave them actual measurements of every piec e I was moving. I was quoted $6300. Then one of there people get in touch with me a week before the move and up the estimate to $6900. Then the actual movers get there and tell me the price will be $10,900. Of course at this time, what can you do. And Allegiance knows this. DO NOT trust this company.
