Summary

Pets Plus Us is a good pick for pet insurance as the company does not discriminate based on age or increase premiums based on claim history. However, annual deductibles do increase every five years but will never go up more than $100 at a time. It's also worth pointing out that Pets Plus Us' deductible only has to be fulfilled annually and not on per condition/incident basis. The company will also cover alternative treatments so long as they are administered by a licensed veterinarian.

I'd like to share my very disappointing experience with Pets plus us! I am a new client with 2 pups that are healthy. I happened to take my youngest pup to the vet as he was more stubborn to potty training and thought perhaps he might have a bladder infection that might be contributing to his pee accidents. So after the vet examination, extraction of urine as he was so tiny, 5 lbs.,there was nothing wrong with him outside of being a stubborn , tiny chihuahua mix and would take more time being house trained! The vet said there was no urinary infection or anything wrong with him. But apparently simple because I was a concerned , proactive pet owner, and despite the fact that there... Read More

I gotta say, I have NOT been impressed with their customer service. It took them WEEKS to process my initial request for coverage, and every single time that I correspond with them it takes them upwards of 3 emails and up to a week for anyone to get back to me, with no apologies offered for the delay in responding. The straw that broke the camels back was that they refused to honour their obligation to refund my annual vet check-up because I happened to go to the vet one week earlier than the previous year (to be exact, 5 days). So they claimed I maxed out my vet claim for the year. Yeah that's as absurd as it sounds.

Absolutely the worst experience with this company. Stay away, they will keep you in the dark about "exclusions" on your pet's policy and then, after years of collecting premiums without so much as a hiccup, will deny coverage based on "pre-existing conditions" that you were never made aware of... Alas, their slogans are a big lie... I will be canceling the policy asap. Instead of wasting the money on their premiums I should have saved it up instead.

Worst decision ever to trust this company as my beloved's insurance. They've made every possible certainty that when/if our animal is ever in trouble, we'll not have any financial help from them.

I did a lot of research before selecting Pets Plus Us. Unfortunately, it was a bad choice. In the first ten months of coverage, we spent $1200 on vet visits for our new great dane pup. (Excluding heartworm, tick, etc) She developed a few different body infections that had her vomiting or hives or lethargic. To add to our $1200, we chose the Pets Plus Us 20/80 with $200 deductible coverage with a monthly cost of $81. So, our total was $2000 for 10 months. Upon submission of our bills, we received a huge $50 reimbursement for our vet visits and meds. Why????? Our pup showed a slight ear infection or "otitis externa" in one ear on her first check-up. This became an exclusion for coverage.... Read More

I received an email from pets plus us offering the first month free, so I signed up online entered the code from the email, then heard nothing from them till two weeks later when I received an email stating my payment was declined, so I emailed them back telling them how I only signed up because they offered a free month so what am I being charged for? they said the promo code I used was only valid if I phoned in to set up a policy! wow nothing in the email said anything about only being valid over the phone! then they wanted me to call them with my banking details? nope sorry that's not going to happen! So this whole experience has let me wondering how easy it would be if I had to make a... Read More

Absolutely the WORST customer service I have ever encountered. Paid reliably and when I finally have a claim, this company falls short and keeps denying my claim under the presumption 2 different Veterinarians lied on my dogs medical records when stating my dog was 100% healthy before my contract was instated. COMPLETE AND UTTER SCAM!!! I have been fighting with this company for almost 2 months now to get my money that is rightfully owed to me. Complete joke!! Save your money and find a different company.

We were switched to Pets Plus Us when PC Financial stopped offering pet insurance. Overall, the switch has been a downgrade. I will say there is usually little to no wait time when you call, and the telephone operators are extremely pleasant and helpful. However, there is no online portal, which seems extremely dated in this day and age and because of this, you have to call more frequently to follow up on claims or obtain information that would usually be readily available online. Most importantly, their processing time is extremely slow; expect to wait upwards of two months for your claim to be processed and your reimbursement received. A disappointing replacement from PC who was fast and... Read More

Terrible representation... As a customer, we have our part in responsibility, but when you receive calls with missing information and are surprised by money taken out, clear and effective communication is key. In my case, the customer representative told me they sent me documents when they clearly did not. With that being said, the amount and coverage should be clear. I have never had previous issues, but ever since being covered for a second dog, I have only had issues with communication. This shows they do not respect their customers and are only looking out to get money. It’s too bad, because had they communicated, I would stick to this insurance as it has great benefits for my dog. I... Read More
