Overall Rating: 4 / 5 (Very good)

Figo offers extremely generous coverage for the price. Its standard plan covers items that most high-level plans won't unless they are made available as costly add ons.

Figo is the only company we are aware of that has a 100% reimbursement option at their highest premium rate. The company unlimited coverage as an option. In addition, pet owners can add one of three PowerUps to their plan: Wellness, Veterinary Exam Fee Coverage, or the Extra Care Pack.

However, Figo is relatively new and doesn't match the long track record some of our other featured companies.

Figo Coverage

Coverage - 4.5 / 5

Figo offers three plan levels and all of them provide substantial coverage for the price compared to most other companies.

Figo's least expensive plan covers normal accidents and illnesses, but also things like prescriptions, hip dysplasia, alternative treatments, prosthetics, mobility devices, and treatment for behavioral problems.

Figo imposes no exclusions for hereditary or congenital conditions, or pre-existing conditions if they have been cured for 12 months.

Unlike some of our other top companies, Figo does not select unlimited coverage for you as a default. You can choose between $5,000, $10,000, and unlimited.

For complete peace of mind you may have to go with the high end plan to get the unlimited coverage, as advanced techniques and specialized treatments are costing more than ever before. Figo does not operate on a benefit schedule.

I am a veterinarian, as well as a Figo policy holder. As a veterinarian, I see that my clients get reimbursed as they should according to their policy. With some of the other insurance companies, I have to write letters to convince them that the condition is not pre-existing and should be paid. As a policyholder, I find the Figo staff energetic, friendly and highly competent.

Go elsewhere for your pet care. I was using Figo for coverage for my year old toy poodle. I moved from NYC to Minnesota and they are doubling my cost. Doubling my cost for a market where vet costs are considerably less. The worst part is the customer service I received. Today when I inquired why my costs where rising so high the person I was chatting with via messenger was condescending and gave me all the wrong numbers. Telling me my costs were only going up $2. Eventually this person realized they had made a mistake and said, "oh yeah, your costs are going from $32 to $65". They then disconnected with me being tired of dealing with my frustration. This company has had growing pains and... Read More

I have had cats for over 35 years and never purchased pet insurance for many reasons including it didn't exist years ago and I never had any major problems with my cats health but more recently I decided it was a good idea to have insurance for my three babies (cats). I did a great deal of research into what would be the best pet insurance for my cats and considered many many factors including cost, coverage, ease of filing claims, helpfulness when I called the companies, and so on and eventually decided on FIGO even though they were smaller and not as well known in the industry as some of the others. Anyway, I purchased FIGOinsurance in November 2017 assuming based on past experience... Read More

Had this insurance for about a year and my experience with their claims has been great. My 9 yr old cat was diagnosed with anemia and Figo was always timely with processing. After my cat also got diabetes, possibly from the prodnisolone usage for the anemia, Figo was able to cover the acupuncture and holisitic treatments as well. Cat is almost back to normal health

I have had the Figo Pet Insurance for about a year now. I have been very happy with the coverage and the service. Claims are being processed in a matter of days now. They have covered everything I would have expected based upon the policy I purchased. I'll admit I'm a little concerned about the renewal cost. I received a message last month making me aware that the NY rates are going to be adjusted upwards at renewal time next month.

Warning. Stay away from Figo Pet Insurance. They are a scam. Their customer service is horrible and they process claims very slowly. I was told several times that they are experiencing high claim volume and they are hiring more people to handle it. I was also told they are growing too fast and are experiencing growing pains. This is not my problem. I have asked several times to speak with a supervisor and there is never one available. I pay my premium on time every month and expect my claims to be processed in a reasonable amount of time. Maybe they should slow down and focus on their existing customers. At this rate they will be out of business from all their unhappy customers. I wish I... Read More

Do not get Figo pet insurance! My cat has had two UTIs and they refused to pay anything for either vet visit. They claim that a UTI is a "pre-existing condition" which is ridiculous. That would never be allowed to happen in human health care, to which a representative told me "pet insurance is not like human insurance"... so beware, they will not treat your pets as actual patients, but instead blame them for getting sick more than once a year and refuse to pay.

I have had coverage for my two dogs for a year. The benefits and turnaround time have been great! The problem is that after they get you into their company for the first year, THEY DOUBLE YOUR RATE!! Totally unfair and not a good business practice

Quick reimbursements, easy to understand policy limitations and rules, customer supports actually response with useful answers, complete transparency and full explanation when claims' are denied. For the past two years we had numerous claims (dental surgeries, bladder infections, eye surgeries, ER visits etc) approved and reimbursed in timely fashions. Emails to customer services are usually answered (with actual, useful answers) within 36-hours. My recent 2 claims, total over $4000, were reimbursed within a week. Figo send us email notices about upcoming premium increase 2 months ahead of time, so we have ample time to plan out what to do next. Their notice also came with suggestions on... Read More
