Allianz Travel Insurance Summary

Allianz opening price point plans offer travelers the most commonly purchased coverage options. Trip cancellation and interruption services are offered even under its OneTrip Cancellation Plus, the company's entry level offering. Trips are insured up to their full purchase price. The company extends protection to children under 17 when accompanied by a paying adult with no additional cost on their OneTrip Prime and OneTrip Premier plans. 

Allianz offers customers a full refund if coverage is cancelled within fifteen days of purchase.

BUYERS BEWARE!! When we ordered the Premier Plan, we read that it covered medical treatment and trip cancellation which is what we had concerns with moderate/severe allergies and asthma. When we had to cancel the trip at the recommendation of our doctor for other health reasons we felt reassured that we could recover the cost of the trip to use toward a future trip due to what we thought was amazing travel insurance. Due to my horrible experience I cannot recommend Allianz Global Insurance. My travel was interrupted due to a major natural disaster. I immediately called customer service and was told not to worry and was explained all the benefits I would receive. I spent the next 12 months speaking to dozens of representatives and submitting reams of requested paperwork. Every time I spoke with someone I received a different answer. I was asked to resubmit documents that I had already submitted several times. All of this was logged is their online document upload program but they still requested additional documentation. Is there a way to give negative stars? Don't buy travel insurance! And if you do, don't actually expect help from any one at this company. There goal is to make you give up, make it so hard to get a refund that eventually you just give up!

DO NOT BUY THIS INSURANCE!!!! We bought this travel insurance to cover a trip to Barcelona cruising the Mediterranean. Had never bought trip insurance before, but decided our financial risk on this trip warranted being insured against the unexpected. We did not read any of the reviews on this company, UNTIL as luck would have it, we needed to file a claim. SHAME ON US!! Once we read the reviews, we knew we were in trouble. I am the customer of it and at the same time a victim of irresponsibility, unjust . DO NOT TRUST THIS UNSURED COMPANY, They just want to get your pockket. My Flight was delay 2 hours 30 minutes was not compensated. So rediculous!

Waste of money. Bought tickets to the Dominican Republic and months after purchasing 11 Americans have died at various resorts and just wanted my money back for flights & was denied stating the travel advisory hasn't been issued yet. If they are waiting for a travel advisory I can just cancel through the airline for free without having to pay for Allianz. Policy is extremely limited and obviously have no concern for safety of their customers. Asked customer service for an example of when they would payout vs when an airline wouldn't and he could not come up with 1 single example. It is too early to know if they will compensate appropriately as per our travel agent's comments and our insurance documents, but I do know this: The customer service is terrible. After my husband had two surgeries in 2 weeks, we found that we would not find it safe to travel in two months on a Viking cruise. Two surgeons agreed with that. The claim forms were sent to me quickly; but I noticed soon that there was a list of about 25 separate documents they "required" before the claim could be completed. Allianz was just another lost expense for me from a cancelled trip from the US to Portugal and Spain. I purchased the policy well before Covid-19, in November 2019. Allianz now says they will not pay claims due to cancellations based on Covid and I do not qualify for a refund. Travel insurance was purchased to cover me in this exact type of situation and they totally failed. My advice is don't waste your money on Allianz, the cost will be noting more than another lost expense if your trip has problems.

Ron C Yesterday, I was informed that my insurance policy with Allianz did not cover a trip cancellation due to my wife's medical condition. We supplied doctor's statements and demonstrated that our booking was appropriately paid for; there being no malfeasance or attempt at fraud. Nevertheless, after a two month ordeal of supplying additional supporting documentation, Allianz refused to approve our claim. I am very unhappy with Allianz and plan to initiate a legal lawsuit to recover both my booking fees and the cost of the insurance policy Allianz sold us. I had a medical incident in Mexico. I was in the hospital for 2 days. I was on the. brink of dying so my friend handled as much as he could. In Mexico they wouldnt even operate on me til they had 10k USD in hand. My friend called people friends and family and maxed out his own life savings to save my life. When I returned I submitted all documents I had. It was a nightmare to get my diagnosis from the hospital in Mexico, they only took cash under the table for the ambulance, even though I was dying (literally not figuratively) and I had no real record of the $500 USD out of pocket that was given to the driver.
