Vision Insurance at Davis Vision

Rather than being an extension of a dental plan or another product in a company’s line of services, Davis Vision’s main focus is on providing quality eye care services. It is therefore no surprise that Davis Vision offers one of the most comprehensive lists of eye care services, and is a solid place to shop for high-quality vision plans.

HORRIFIC CUSTOMER SERVICE when I called over a period of 4 months regarding my reimbursement check. I cancelled the service. DO NOT USE THEM.

I am on my 4th pair of glasses in two years. The anti-glare coating keeps wearing off causing the lenses to be blurry. I have reached out to Davis Vision customer service to speak to a supervisor/manager and no one calls me back. Davis Vision is not worth the $102 voucher to purchase glasses.

One star is too much for Davis vision. I have been trying for weeks to reach out to someone regarding a awfully mounted lens for two of our patients. It seems impossible to talk to someone and when you do, not only are they extremely rude but they transfer you to another department. Once you are transferred, I had two representatives say "I don't know why they transferred you here!" So who is going to help me? I have an upset patient waiting weeks for something to be done! Now we are redoing the order at our expense just to satisfy our patient.

I would give a lower rating if possible . They won't pay claims . Save your money , this isn't insurance worth paying for

Awful customer service. I got my new lenses 2 months ago and my optometrist noted that the lenses were defective. Something was wrong with the coating on the lenses which was visible and quite obvious. After 2 months, they have still been unable to get any response from Davis on replacing the lenses. My optometrist says that Davis is terrible to work with and slow to pay. Quality of their lenses is definitely not good, and they won't stand behind their product.

Customer service is horrible, was on hold for 6+ hours! Yes 6+ hours to see why they did not pay correctly on multiple patient claims. This is completely unacceptable. We can not even get in to check on patients glasses without being on hold for several hours. We do NOT have this issue with any other insurance company. So very sad for those who have them for their insurance.

Davis Vision should not be rate high. I went to my eye doctor and ordered frames and lens. The prescription was not done correct. So my frames were sent back to Davis Vision. It has been over a month and my eye doctor has not heard anything from Davis Vision. The eye doctor's office calls them every day (for me as well as other customers) and has been on hold for up to 7 hours and still have not been able to talk with anyone at Davis Vision. I would not recommend Davis Vision at all.

They pay for very little. They won't let you go to an ophthalmologist, only an optometrist, so if you have an actual eye problem, it isn't covered. The vision center cannot get a hold of them to get pre-approval (two stints on hold for 3 hours each - then they told me they wouldn't try anymore.) I paid 250$ for glasses, they were wrong, an now Davis won't allow me to switch out the lenses. They suck, and using this insurance is actually WAY more expensive than paying cash. Useless.

My husband and I have been trying to get glasses for three days. We want to buy them from Costco. The salesperson is able to process our discount but not submit it for finalizing the order. We are told we are saving about half the cost by applying the insurance, but of course it won’t go through. My husband called Davis and was told to give an 800 number to the salesperson to be able to order by phone. The salesperson kindly made the call and the Davis rep actually asked her why she didn’t know better than to call and try to order on our behalf and was she “confused.” After reading the comments here I realize that three days is hardly anything compared to what people have waited for... I would give them zero stars if I could. They use a creative blend of wrongful/fraudulent benefit denials and non-existent customer service to avoid paying for any contact lens or glasses benefits for enrollees. I don't know a single coworker who has managed to get Davis to pay for anything except a vision exam every 24 months. In August 2018 I received a vision exam, which was covered by Davis Vision. I attempted to buy contacts and was told by my eye doctor that I would have to pay out-of-pocket because I'd "already used my contacts benefit" (I hadn't) and that I needed to go call my insurer. After several days of struggling to speak to a real human on the phone they told me they... Read More
