Our Overall Rating: 4.3 / 5 (Excellent)

Hunter Douglas is one of the strongest competitors in blinds worldwide given its technologically advanced and highly customizable products. A strong reputation and variety of services further improve its standing with us. However, the company's big drawback is the lack of an online store. Its website provides thorough descriptions and examples of its products, but consumers must visit an authorized window treatment specialist to buy the company's blinds. On the other hand, this ensures every last detail is to each customer's liking. Because of this, we recommend Hunter Douglas for consumers with a nearby specialist who can sell and help them install the company's products.

We bought a large shade for our living room. It has broken twice and had to be returned. The cords usually last 2-3 years and then have to be replaced. I was very surprised by the lack of quality in the product.

I am so very disappointed in this company. I have 4 woven wood roman shades. Three of the shades needed repairs to the cords. They were sent directly to Hunter Douglas for repair and restringing of the cords in August and September 2019. I paid $240 per shade for the repair. Six months later (March 2020), the repaired cord on one of the shades snapped. In April 2020, the repaired cord on another shade snapped. Two broken shades in less than one years time. Such poor workmanship. I have emailed Hunter Douglas three times over the last 4 weeks and have gotten no response. What a waste of the consumers time and money. I will never buy another window treatment from this company nor... Read More

We spent nearly $10,000 on HD blinds in 2011 . Big mistake. Within two years the blinds that we use regularly in the bedroom and kitchen have had of their cords snap at least four times each at separate times since we have had them. Happened again yesterday on the bedroom blind. Called HD told that warranty has expired they cant help. So cords will break if you use the blinds , well within the warranty period, because they are not made to last . Blinds are great if you dont raise or lower them. In 2011 we were told by HD that the cords had a lifetime warranty . This now a 7 year warranty. No wonder they have

PLEASE READ REVIEWS BELOW!!! Comments from just the last 8 months! “I wish I had read these reviews prior to spending over $3,000 for HD blinds” “Do not waste your money on Hunter Douglas” “Be careful. The system is totally ugly and unfinished looking. $30 blinds from home depot have valances and these were like $700” “A giant Hunter Douglas Warranty disappointment for me” “Hunter Douglas does not know who their installers are, and the installers are not liable for proper follow-up” “Could not be more disappointed!” “With all of the other options available today I would never buy Hunter Douglas again.” “Failure of 2 of 3 products purchased within less than a 3 year... I wish I had read these reviews prior to spending over $3,000 for HD blinds. The blinds themselves are lovely, but the hardware sent with them was junk and some of it would not fit the blind. One blind would only close halfway down, and the bottom pull on a roll-up shade was not included. My husband spent most of a day installing them with several calls to customer support, who were not helpful. Fortunately, our local interior decorating store that sold the window treatments provided excellent service and were able to get HD to replace the defective items.

Do not waste your money on Hunter Douglas. The motorized blinds are problematic - high failure rates for these motors and power supplies needing constant replacement. Few if any 'certified techs' in region to support warranty or even willing to provide warranty service at the rate these need attention. Calling HD Customer Service gets you redirected to the same problematic dealers who don't support what they sell for HD. The parts needing replacement are hundreds of dollars to replace if you are forced to go outside HD to get them - which is likely why the dealer ignores customers needing warranted repairs. Even so, tech support - should you be able to find a competent, responsive one, is... Read More

I bought the Alustra Duette top/bottom cellular shades through our local dealer. Be careful. For us, there was no valance and HD does not have a bracketing plan for a valance. Either the dealer or HD decided we should have an almond color housing mounted right next to our big beautiful white mouldings. The system is totally ugly and unfinished looking. I was just standing there in awe. $30 blinds from home depot have valances and these were like $700. I had to come up with my own bracketing system with magnets and recycle our old valances. The mechanisms are tempermental as well. Dissappointing. Seems like another big company that has lost its way. Never again.

Not all Hunter Douglas products are guaranteed for as long as you own them. One of my 80” H D verticals broke at the fitting that attaches to the wand, which also broke. I purchased them in late 2014. No parts available for this model. And, since there are no dealers that are designated “repair stations” where I live I could mail them to HD for them to evaluate and recommend a replacement—at my expense. A replacement head rail would have to be purchased from a HD installer/dealer. Shipping an 80” head rail is a very expensive proposition! There and back would cost more than a replacement at Home Depot or Lowe’s. A giant Hunter Douglas Warranty disappointment for me.

The manufacturer's guarantee is only as good as the reliability of your installer for they must be willing to come back, dismantle, mail back with appropriate instructions, receive back, and then come back to your home to re-install. In my case my installer Sal Anderson from Beautiful Windows would not come back or help in any way. Hunter Douglas recommended a repair person in Queens when I live in Staten Island.. no way were they willing to come here. Blinds broke in 2 mo., and tortured for 6 1/2 years with a 400$ blinds for one window a mess. Hunter Douglas does not know who their installers are, and the installers are not liable for proper follow-up, and Hunter Douglas will not help... Read More
