I loved the doctors I had for UHC. They helped take care of all of my needs.

I recently ended a Term Health Insurance policy with UHC and wanted to share my experience. In 2021 I left my job to take care of an aging parent, I started a policy with UHC since they had been my policy provider through my employer. I had always been very satisfied with my interactions with them up until that point, so I thought they would be a good choice to continue providing insurance. I was mistaken. I did sign up for a 'tri-term' policy. A three-year insurance plan which I was led to believe was my only option given my circumstances. When I received my insurance information, it was from a subsidiary company of UHC. When I contacted UHC about this, I was told the subsidiary company... Read More

We cancelled our coverage as of 8/31. I have been told 5 different stories when we would receive our refund that was automatically taken out on Sept. 5th. To date, after talking to their representatives in the Phillipines, yes they are not in this country,we still don't have our money. Worst company I have ever dealt with!

Worst service ever. I cancelled it because we were paying over $500 a month and they covered nothing for me and paid 21cents per month on my wifes perscriptions. Every time I called I spoke to a foreign individual that was impossible to understand. I got three different stories about when I'd receive our refund and the supervisor was especially nasty. Her name was Jackie!

This company is horrible. (1) They don't compute claims correctly. This policy has a $3,000 out of pocket maximum. So far I have paid $5320.67 out of pocket. In fact on my home page it says Out-of-Pocket Maximum $5,320.67 spent / $3,000 total. (2) Communicating with them is very difficult. They retired their Message center on December 8, 2023. You can only communicate via chat. Well I downloaded their csv claims file and created a spreadsheet and did some processing and confirmed that I had paid $5320.67. I opened a chat session and the person couldn't understand what I was trying to tell her. She even sent me an image of the webpage that showed, "Out-of-Pocket Maximum $5,320.67... Read More

UHC is the worst insurance company I've ever dealt with. Customer service reps are incompetent, unable to communicate with customers, lie to you about what they are going to do, among other things. I visited an in-network walk in clinic two times for cold/flu-like symptoms when my PCP was unavailable. As is quite common, a nurse practitioner on duty evaluated my symptoms. UHC claimed the nurse practitioners were Specialists which resulted in a higher copay. Many phone calls and appeals went nowhere. I was ready for a scheduled telephone hearing regarding the appeal, but UHC never called or followed up. When I questioned and complained about not getting a chance to voice my concerns... On March 21 this year I received a letter from them dated March 14. that of March 7 my healthcare provider is not anymore in their network. I was scheduled for April 3. to get a knee replacement with this provider who is now out of network and UH will not cover the cost. Is this gangster behavior legal? Paying for the insurance and the moment they need to do their part of the contract you get a kick in the Ass from UH.

This company goes out of its way to discriminate against deaf people. If you are deaf or hard of hearing, they will not let you use an interpreter of your choice and insists that you share your information with some random interpreting service that is governed by no Law whatsoever on whom they share your information with. They violate every ADA rule there is. But hay, deaf people to them have no rights. SHAME on UnitedHeathcare.

I switched to UHC (dual complete) from CHP in late 2017 & have never looked back. It's an incredible healthcare plan in my opinion & definitely the best I've ever had. I can get fresh fruit/veggies with my HealthyRewards Card, as well as assistance with my utility bill and 100% coverage of prescription medications. They also cover the cost of my hearing aids, eyeglasses & dental care. Anytime I've needed to speak with a UHC advocate, they've always gone above & beyond to assist me no matter what I've needed their help with. I highly recommend United Healthcare.
