Overall Rating: 4 / 5 (Excellent)

Eargo hearing aids help wearers process and understand speech more clearly, amplifying mid and high auditory frequencies. The company's products were designed by an ENT surgeon with more than thirty years' experience in the field with thousands of patients. Products were subsequently tested by audiologists and hearing professionals before being put into production. Since wearers generally need time to readjust to the hearing audio frequencies they may have missed for years--similar to how eyes adjust to glasses or contacts--Eargo has built a team of licensed personal hearing professionals to help each client through this process.

Eargo Product Offerings

Hearing Aid Style - 4 / 5

Eargo devices are extremely discreet. They're so invisible, you truly have to look very closely to see the tiny black end of their hearing aids. Eargo is also very attentive to comfort. Their patented Flexis, made from medical-grade silicone, help their devices rest comfortably in the ear and allows natural, ambient-lost frequencies to pass through into the eardrum.

The company's newest product is the Eargo 7, which automatically optimizes the soundscape as you move between environments. The Eargo 7 ifeatures Sound Adjust+ with Clarity Mode, a powerful capability that automatically adapts your Eargo devices to your current sound environment. The Eargo 7 is competitively priced when compared to traditional hearing aids at $2,950 for a pair of devices. It provides 16 hours of continuous use an overnight charge up to 2 days of portable power with the contactless charging case. All of Eargo's products are distinguished by excellent on-demand support from hearing professionals for as long as you use your device.

Eargo's other products include the Eargo SE, a virtually invisible CIC hearing aid that is cleared by the FDA. The company's newest product is LINK by Eargo, the company's first earbud-style OTC hearing aid with 5.3 Bluetooth. Both products benefit from rechargeable batteries and four preset sound modes to optimize your hearing experience.

Eargo kits come with left and right devices, two sizes of Flexis (regular and large), charger units, cleaning tools, and more. Every purchase comes with free lifetime support.

Customer Experience - 4 / 5

Every Eargo customer is assigned a licensed hearing professional for assistance after receiving the device. Customers are then able to book an introductory call and subsequent support calls as needed until they feel comfortable using the device. Eargo offers two types of warranties that come standard with its products. There is a 12 or 24-month manufacturer warranty that covers manufacturing defects. This will be void if the wearer modifies or damages the unit(s). Eargo also includes an uncommon loss & damage warranty which will cover devices that are lost or damaged beyond repair. In such cases, the company will send you replacements at a discounted rate.

Professional and caring staff. Very understanding organization. It's enough to feel the frustration of hearing loss, they understand what you are going through. Knowledgeable about their products and helping the consumer choose the right one for them.

Battery life is only about one year and the battery is not replaceable. Poor durability for an aid in this price range.

Absolutely miserable. I used them for over two hears and to replace each of them at least twice because they quit working. They are VERY sensitive to even the tiniest bit of wax or any other foreign matter getting inside. I cleaned them religiously every day but it didn't matter. The concept is good and they are comfortable, but in the end, it's just not a viable solution. Save yourself some hassle and buy elsewhere.

Eargo hifi are disposable at best. There's no way to clean them inside and thus they lose performance daily. In my experience they last at most 3 months before needing replacement. The daily maintenance to make them last this long is extensive, about 20-30 minutes a day. This is too much effort for how little they last. The company is very good about replacements but they only have a 2 year warranty. After that they cost to replace every few months.

I have worked for 15 years in Senior healthcare system and witnessed many residents with hearing aid issues. I retired 5 years ago but if I was still there I would highly recommend Eargo 6 as the very best solution
