Choice Home Warranty offers a full array of home appliance and systems coverage at a competitive price. The company offers two plans for existing home owners —Basic and Total. In addition to a monthly premium, customers can expect to pay an $85 service fee each time they make a claim, which falls in low-to-mid range when compared to other home warranty companies.

You can submit a claim 24/7, including holidays, via phone, online, or app. The company utilizes proprietary technology to begin the dispatching process after a claim is filed. The company has recently updated their plans increasing coverage and has fewer limitations. Their plans and optional coverage can cover over 25 major systems and appliances.

Choice Home Warranty earns a B rating from the Better Business Bureau and has a positive rating on Trustpilot, but in this industry, negative customer reviews far outnumber positive ones.

Coverage Options - 4.5 / 5

Choice Home Warranty offers existing homeowners two plans, each of which cover a mix of systems and appliances. The primary difference between its Total plan and its Basic plan is that refrigerators, washers and dryers, and air conditioning systems are not included in the Basic Plan. Optional coverage for such items as pools and spas, well pumps, and septic systems is available for an additional fee. The company states that, in any case, its total liability for any single item is capped at $3000, but lower limits do apply to some covered items.

We requested a quote for a single family home of less than 5000 square feet in a small midwestern city. The premium for Choice Home Warranty's Basic was $47.85 per month and the premium for its Total pan was $54.95 per month. With the cost difference between the two plans being only about $7 per month, to our mind, the Total plan a better value overall because it includes coverage for three of the most common appliances: refrigerators, washers, and dryers. It also includes coverage for air conditioning systems.

The company's co-pay for a service call is $85, slightly less than most comparable companies. The co-pay may be reduced further with special discounts and promotions.

I've been using Choice Home Warranty for over 10 years. When it came time to renew a few years ago, I decided not to do so due to the poor quality of the repair people who had come to do repairs. Someone from Choice Home Warranty reached to me out to ask why I was not going to renew. When I explained my reason she said to give them some time, as they were purging those service companies with poor reviews from their list of contractors. I believe today was the 1st time I had someone here to fix something since I last renewed. WHAT A DIFFERENCE! This service person was knowledgeable, competent and professional and diagnosed and fixed my problem immediately. My faith in Choice Home... Read More

The salt cell for my pool stopped working. I initiated the claim online and the technician was out 2 days later to diagnose the problem. It needed replacing. The replacement was authorized and a week later a new salt cell was installed.

Online search. I can only speak of the ease of signing up for coverage. Used contact number provided on line, was surprised at the late hour that a person answered. Talked with Bruce he was professional and to the point he convinced me that Choice Home Warranty was the best. I will have to wait and see if my decision was a good one.To be continued.

Had a great deal for a 3 year plan and great customer service with someone I could actually understand. Have not used their services yet but my first impression with them is outstanding! Getting rid of AHS.

When the going gets tough, call Choice. The ease of submitting a claim, and the instantaneous response time makes Choice Home warranty the right “Choice”. Well done!

This is the first time I have had to use my warranty since purchasing it over a year ago. The company they had come out and do the work was great. The technician that completed the job was awesome. The original tech ordered the wrong part and I was without the washer for 6 weeks but outcome was great.

I’ve had 2 claims recently submitted. 1) submitted mid Nov 2024 for a washer that I am still waiting on parts for. Older washer so manufacturer had the parts on back order. Recently heard from repair tech that parts should be in late Feb or Early March. We’ll see. 2) submitted Feb 2025. Technician came within 2 days. Parts had to be ordered and it took less than a week for them to come in. Tech was very professional and efficient. Glad I had this Home Warranty. Both repairs would have been very costly without. Would have given 5 stars if the washer claim was completed. I do realize that it is not the tech’s fault that the parts were on back order.

We have been happy for the last 4 years with our warranty until yesterday! We called for service because our ejector pump stopped working. The plumbing company came within 2 days. That was fine, but on top of the $65 service fee they want to charge $310! We called to see what it was for. The pump is covered, but they want to charge $310 to cut a PVC pipe!! Choice will not let us cut the pipe, they will also not leave the pump without installing so that we can install ourselves! This is a ridiculous amount to charge to cut a pipe! So this service fee and the pipe cutting fee is more than the pump. Insanity!!!!

My experience having a technician look at my cooktop was great. The replacement process is not good. Choice Home Warranty did a buy out which means they give you an e-card to Lowes for the wholesale value of your appliance and not the retail value. It would have been great if they would have purchased and installed my cooktop since they have the buying power and I don't.
