Overall Rating: 4.6 / 5 (Excellent)

Choice Home Warranty offers a full array of home appliance and systems coverage at a competitive price. The company offers two plans for existing home owners —Basic and Total. In addition to a monthly premium, customers can expect to pay an $85 service fee each time they make a claim, which falls in low-to-mid range when compared to other home warranty companies.

You can submit a claim 24/7, including holidays, via phone, online, or app. The company utilizes proprietary technology to begin the dispatching process after a claim is filed. The company has recently updated their plans increasing coverage and has fewer limitations. Their plans and optional coverage can cover over 25 major systems and appliances.

Choice Home Warranty earns a B rating from the Better Business Bureau and has a positive rating on Trustpilot, but in this industry, negative customer reviews far outnumber positive ones.

Coverage Options - 4.5 / 5

Choice Home Warranty offers existing homeowners two plans, each of which cover a mix of systems and appliances. The primary difference between its Total plan and its Basic plan is that refrigerators, washers and dryers, and air conditioning systems are not included in the Basic Plan. Optional coverage for such items as pools and spas, well pumps, and septic systems is available for an additional fee. The company states that, in any case, its total liability for any single item is capped at $3000, but lower limits do apply to some covered items.

We requested a quote for a single family home of less than 5000 square feet in a small midwestern city. The premium for Choice Home Warranty's Basic was $47.85 per month and the premium for its Total pan was $54.95 per month. With the cost difference between the two plans being only about $7 per month, to our mind, the Total plan a better value overall because it includes coverage for three of the most common appliances: refrigerators, washers, and dryers. It also includes coverage for air conditioning systems.

The company's co-pay for a service call is $85, slightly less than most comparable companies. The co-pay may be reduced further with special discounts and promotions.

Purchased a home, with warranty. Paid $450 for a year. A/C part broke a month later and they agreed to pay for the work to be done. I called to check on the reimbursement check and they decided they were only going to pay a fraction of what they promised. After hours of time on the phone and repeated phone calls, they finally agreed to pay the amount. I called on 08/16/16 to check on the status and they sent me to a manager in the cancellations department. I told them I was very unsatisfied with the company and how they had been treating us from the initial claim beginning.. Andy the senior manager, said that he was going to withhold the reimbursement check until I signed a release form... Read More

My air conditioner stopped blowing cold air. I contacted Choice Home Warranty on a Sunday morning, and a service man came out to fix the same day. I paid the standard charge for the service call and a additional charge for "cleaning" that was not covered under the warranty plan. I did not have to pay for the replacement parts in the compressor or for the labor for installation of the replacement parts.

My first clam was to replace an inducer in my furnace. The 1st contractor came out and claimed to have replaced the inducer, but he lied. Two contractors after him told Choice that the inducer was not replaced and Choice has yet to fix this problem. My furnace makes so much noise that it never did prior to using their first assigned contractor. My second claim was to unstop a toilet because a medicine bottle fell in it on 8/15/16 which I submitted on line. They sent out a plumber and only after he stated that the toilet had to be removed in order to fix it did I receive a call stating that they did not cover this because it was not normal wear and tear. Choice knew this before they... Read More

I had prompt communication and information on contacting a service provider from Choice Home Warranty, an email with the follow-up information as well and a prompt scheduled appointment to address the problem. Choice Home Warranty continues to provide fast communication after customer service calls, thorough communication on the contacts to call and then follow-up to make sure the services were provided. Thank you.

When I first called and reported that my washing machine was not working, they assigned a service provider the next day. Two days later, the Service Technician came and diagnosed the problem. He left and ordered the parts that were needed. The parts came in 4 days later, and he came out and fixed my washer. He was a great technician and my washer problem was solved!

Probably the worst company I have ever dealt with. They had no understanding of the work that had to be completed after hours of calling and dealing with a horrible phone connection over and over again. They say pipe leakage is covered, but, it wasn't. old pipes some time or another leak. That's what some of the coverage is about! They will find a way to get out of covering the work! Then they contact me to renew...what, are they kidding me?

I filed a complaint with the NJ BBB. I bought a 6 year contract, paid $2200 in 12/ 2015 for it thinking it would be the good deal that the sales agent told me on the phone, wow , I was wrong. This is a scam company. I was told I could cancel anytime I wished and receive a refund minus the months I was a member . That was a total lie. This complaint is Not resolved, Bad Choice Warranty offered to allow me to cancel but to charge me over $1,200 dollars for having been a member under their contract for only 3 months give or take. They ,Bad Choice Warranty, called me on July 20 2016 to offer me with this horrible offer. They padded their costs of the refund if I... Read More
