Overall Rating: 4.6 / 5 (Excellent)

Choice Home Warranty offers a full array of home appliance and systems coverage at a competitive price. The company offers two plans for existing home owners —Basic and Total. In addition to a monthly premium, customers can expect to pay an $85 service fee each time they make a claim, which falls in low-to-mid range when compared to other home warranty companies.

You can submit a claim 24/7, including holidays, via phone, online, or app. The company utilizes proprietary technology to begin the dispatching process after a claim is filed. The company has recently updated their plans increasing coverage and has fewer limitations. Their plans and optional coverage can cover over 25 major systems and appliances.

Choice Home Warranty earns a B rating from the Better Business Bureau and has a positive rating on Trustpilot, but in this industry, negative customer reviews far outnumber positive ones.

Coverage Options - 4.5 / 5

Choice Home Warranty offers existing homeowners two plans, each of which cover a mix of systems and appliances. The primary difference between its Total plan and its Basic plan is that refrigerators, washers and dryers, and air conditioning systems are not included in the Basic Plan. Optional coverage for such items as pools and spas, well pumps, and septic systems is available for an additional fee. The company states that, in any case, its total liability for any single item is capped at $3000, but lower limits do apply to some covered items.

We requested a quote for a single family home of less than 5000 square feet in a small midwestern city. The premium for Choice Home Warranty's Basic was $47.85 per month and the premium for its Total pan was $54.95 per month. With the cost difference between the two plans being only about $7 per month, to our mind, the Total plan a better value overall because it includes coverage for three of the most common appliances: refrigerators, washers, and dryers. It also includes coverage for air conditioning systems.

The company's co-pay for a service call is $85, slightly less than most comparable companies. The co-pay may be reduced further with special discounts and promotions.

A/C stopped producing cool air late Monday afternoon and temp was close to 100 degrees outside Called Choice Home Warranty and had a response from a repairman in less than 2 hours. He asked me several specific questions that helped him make a quick analysis whereupon gave me some suggestions that got the unit running again to get us thru the night and he would be here first thing in the AM to check things out. He arrived the next morning as promised and his original analysis was correct after checking the entire system out. He added Freon and made a final check leaving the unit running perfectly. Nice and cool again. Excellent repairman. Would recommend him to anyone needing A/'C... Read More

This company takes your money but when it comes time to make repairs they hide behind a very questionable "policy" just one excuse after another to pay as little as possible leaving you without the equipment you have insured! I suggest you look elsewhere for a more honest company.

We have several properties and have only switch two to Choice so far. We are very happy with the speed of service and quality of vendors sent our way so far. As our other contracts with your competitor run out, we will be switching all of them to Choice. Thanks for restoring our confidence in the industry.

The request was handled swiftly by an upbeat sales representative. Within 15 mins the contractor details were emailed. Upon contacting the contractor, they showed up the next day. Contractor was very knowledgeable who understood the root cause and replaced Garbage Disposal as well as electric switch was getting affected by defective garbage disposal. Well the work flow is coming along well and contractors are knowledgeable. That definitely determines a good resolution.

Hi, I was prompted by my annual cleaning of my central air unit to find out what was actually covered on my policy. The answer I received was shocking. Choice only covers the condenser fan, not the condenser,or condenser coil! The supervisor regina nash who answered my questions because the customer service rep could not, offered to get some prices on the items choice did not cover. The price of the condenser was $700.00 and the coil was between $300.00 and $400.00! This price does not include installation of the parts. All I can say is buyer beware if you have a home warranty that does not cover these things and it will cost you about $1200.00 out of pocket what good is the warranty?

This company is HORRIBLE. DO NOT USE THEM. The technician that came to my house told me that they would not cover it, he out and right said they owe him money and out of 10 that he submit they only paid 1. Well today they call me and tell me because I have not have my ac serviced in the past 6 months they will not cover it. I did have it serviced in the past year, yet they said my contract says 6 months. MY CONTRACT does not say six months, they then told me that is what is recommended. I ask to speak with the director named Sara and I was told by the "Manager" Oscar that Sara is too busy to talk and she refuses to get on the phone and she will call me back when she has... In the middle of a HOT Summer we called in an issue with our air conditioning. Choice dispatched Air Power to our home within hours. The people from Air Power were easy to work with, professional and stuck with it until the job was done.

I purchase this protection after not having a home warranty for a few years. Don't be fooled by the lower service call fee and the promise of professional service. I received a shyster air condition repair man who's first words were " I have to charge you $125 for a diagnostic that is not covered". He so called completed the work in all of about 10 minutes. The same problem occurred less than 60 days later. Now another diagnostic, $175 plus $45 service call and guess what? Choice Home Warranty refuses to cover the repair and a very sarcastic manager told me to take up my problem with the first repair guys. Not their problem since those guys are not Choice employees. Terrible company... Read More

My microwave oven stopped working after something shorted. I contacted Choice Home Warranty and filed a claim. They send a technician very quickly and was quoted $377.00 to fix the problem. Home Choice informed me that they had the right to buy me out and was offered $155.00. I informed them that the "built-in" cover cost more than that to replace and therefore began a month long process that has to date not been resolved. My contacts to Choice Home Warranty have lasted upwards of 67 minutes. Today I was informed that they had decided that my "built-in" was not "built-in" not therefore not covered. The technician's report clearly states it was a built-in microwave, I'm telling them it... Read More

Please do yourself a favor and do NOT use this company. If you actually have a claim that is over $200, they wiggle their way out of covering it. Then because I threatened to pull my other property, they gave me a "goodwill" gesture to keep me as a customer by telling me they will send me $600 towards my $2600 AC replacement. It was also told to me that it was "expedited". This promise was said to be mailed 6/9/2016, and today is 7/28/2016. No check in sight, and they recently said I should receive a call from someone who can help. Please. Why should I trust this company at anything they say?
