Choice Home Warranty offers existing homeowners two plans, each of which cover a mix of systems and appliances. The primary difference between its Total plan and its Basic plan is that refrigerators, washers and dryers, and air conditioning systems are not included in the Basic Plan. Optional coverage for such items as pools and spas, well pumps, and septic systems is available for an additional fee. We requested a quote for a single family home of less than 5000 square feet in a small midwestern city. The premium for Choice Home Warranty's Basic was $47.85 per month and the premium for its Total pan was $54.95 per month. With the cost difference between the two plans being only about $7 per month, to our mind, the Total plan a better value overall because it includes coverage for three of the most common appliances: refrigerators, washers, and dryers. It also includes coverage for air conditioning systems.

The company's co-pay for a service call is $85, slightly less than most comparable companies. The co-pay may be reduced further with special discounts and promotions.

Cancellation Policy

The contract shall be non-cancelable by the company except for nonpayment of contract fees or service fees, fraud or misrepresentation of facts by the customer, or by agreement between client and company. Customers may cancel within the first 30 days of the order date for a full refund of the paid contract fees. If canceled after 30 days, the customer shall be entitled to a pro rata refund of the paid contract fee for the unexpired term, less a $50 administrative fee and any service costs incurred by the company.

Do Not Buy a Warranty from these people. They're liars and cheaters. They will decline a repairs rather than fix. Their coverage is a mirage. I am filing a complaint with my state Dept of Insurance. They should not be able to pretend they will cover your claims. LIARS!! Beware...

We spend $1500.00 annually on AC maintenance for our 4 units. We have done this to protect our investment. The units are inspected, cleaned and serviced. We have documentation in folders for ALL service and replaced units. In Texas, the summers are very hot. We use whatever company our home warranty recommends to summerize and winterize our home. We have the units inspected and cleaned outside and in. We also clean or replace drain pans as needed, and a handyman employee who has been working on our property everyday for 3 years changes the AC filters almost monthly.The AC fan is not turning outside on one unit and the compressor valve was the diagnosis by Choice Home Warranty Repairman.... I do not recommend Choice Home Warranty. I tried to cancel a 3 year contract and they will do everything in the book to rob you of a fair cancellation price! Choice Home Warranty's promise of $100 refund check to me for a bill I ended up paying was never received. Choose a more reputable warranty company. You will be glad you did.

Choice Home Warranty is complete FRAUD. They will cover small claims but will DENY 90% of big claims even tho they're covered and legitimate. This is their business model. Only accept small claims and deny most of big claims. I had central AC that went down and they sent the technician. The technician said AC is 15 years old and it's at end of its life cycle. But he said Choice will probably deny my claim and give me excuse of "lack of maintenance" even tho he said it had NOTHING to do with maintenance. And he was EXACTLY right. Our Central Air Conditioner quit working on a Friday evening and was out over one of the hottest weekends so far this summer. I filed a claim on Sunday and received a call notifying me our claim had been assigned to a service technician within 20 minutes. My husband called the service technician and we were given an appointment time for the following day between 2:00 - 4:00 pm. Later on Sunday, the appointment was rescheduled for between 12:00 - 2:00 pm. Affordable Heating and Cooling was dispatched to our home and arrived on time, detected the problem, had the parts available to fix the problem and fixed the Central Air Conditioner in less than 45 minutes. They sent a company out to repair my garage door. I paid the $45 and never heard anything again. I called Choice they claimed that the company which came out was never assigned and that they would send another company but I will have to pay the $45 again. Why would this repair company randomly call me for service if they had not been contacted. I called the repair company they have an email with the contact and they were told by choice that they would not repair and to close the claim. I call Choice again and they put me on a 24 minute hold for a supervisor. This is not the first time I have encountered problems with them and I will never recommend or use them again.

I called to get information and was greeted by a fast-talking sales rep who refused to answer my questions or give his name while attempting to use pressure tactics to get me to purchase a home warranty. It felt like I was dealing with a sleazy used car salesman and I said as much on the phone. The underhanded tactics continued but I continued to ask for and expect clear answers. This company is very incompetent My renewal came up for July 4th so I thought I would give them one more year and try this out. First of all you cannot get a spring and fall AC check from them. Now due to the excessive heat and not having the spring check up my AC is not working right. House not cooling down. I call them 4 days ago and tell them I need service and as I did previously request my AC company who is the only company I have used in 30 years. They tell me they can not any long do this and I have to use one of their companies. The worst company ever. I had issues with my a.c. damper motor and the zone control board. It took 2 hours for Choice to attend my call. Their customer service sucks and once they did they told me that they wouldn't cover. Man, this is the worst company ever. I've heard there is nice companies out there and am trying to contact them. Choice doesn't even deserve 1 star.
