Home Warranty of America offers comprehensive home warranty plans that cover more than most other basic plans.

Although their annual premiums and call service fees are on the higher end, when compared to similar offers, the company does provide excellent additional coverage such as the GreenPlus option, which replaces old systems and appliances with high-efficiency models.

With extensive coverages, fitting prices, a flexible cancellation policy, and 24/7 claims processing, Home Warranty of America provides everything a discerning customer could wish for.

Coverage Options - 3.5 / 5

Home Warranty of America offers two plans, the Premier and Premier Plus, which include coverage for over 30 items traditionally not covered under basic home warranty plans.

The company also provides optional coverage for secondary appliances, saltwater equipment, and even primary and secondary pools or spas.

Besides offering a remarkably extensive coverage, HWA also has a GreenPlus plan that allows customers to replace their covered systems or appliances with Energy Star-qualified products.

This last option is available for $5.77 a month or $75 a year, which delivers excellent value, considering the amount of water and electricity customers can save using high-efficiency models.

Claims Processing - 3 / 5

Home Warranty of America charges different service fees for each plan, between $60-$100.

Though they have a standard 30-day waiting period before the coverage can begin, maintenance records aren't necessary to receive service.

HWA states they are not responsible for routine maintenance of systems, appliances, or components.

Clients who want those items to remain in working order will have to service themselves.

Two excellent things about this company is that they offer 24/7 claims processing and though they require authorization for contractors before providing services, these don't necessarily have to be from their network.

heed this warning, this company is a ripoff> when a issue arose with our jacuzzi we were told to wait so they could locate a contractor. in week they called and stated they didnt have contractors in my area, Andover Mn. Since then we have been attempting to cancel the contract and we are not having much luck with trying to get a refund. Mn dept of commerce and Mn attorney general will be my next call.

Absolutely ridiculous. I called to report a plumbing issue, they told me someone would call to come see it - they never did & I even tried calling the company numerous times. I then called HWA back and they scheduled a second company... they never called or answered my calls. I called HWA back yesterday and they said they were trying to find someone and would call me back. They never called back and I got an email this morning saying my claim was cancelled. I called to inquire and was told that it was cancelled because they don't cover "noises with plumbing." Why they didn't say this a month ago, I'm not sure. How they know what's causing the noise that they don't cover, I don't... Read More

Our experience with Home Warranty of America has been poor. Our oven broke, and it took two months for them to decide to replace it. Over Thanksgiving and Xmas, we had to use our Grill and our smoker as ovens. Next, our refrigerator broke. After 3 1/2 months, they still don’t know what is wrong, and it still isn’t working. We have called them at least once every two weeks, if not more often, only to have repairmen not show up. Repairmen who have come out here, have been incompetent. We are canceling our service midterm, as we finally gave up and bought a new refrigerator ourselves. What is the point of getting a warranty, if they take over two months to repair, or replace your... Read More

I can not recommend Home Warranty of America at this time. We called for an issue with our air conditioner not working. Temperatures are in the mid to high 90s with high humidity. Heat index has been above 100 the entire time. It took two days to get a technician to our home. The technician said he had to check with the contractor that sent him to see if the work was covered. Two days later we had not heard the status yet. We had to call the contractor to check on our status. The contractor said they were sending the report with pictures to Home Warranty of America for approval. Why did it take two days to send the report? It has been five days with out air conditioning and no... Read More

This company is absolutely useless when it comes to answering questions. They tell you to call back and you get transfered to 3-4 different people with no manager 'available to talk' DO NOT waste your money, they will not fix anything

DO NOT PURCHASE A POLICY WITH Home Warranty Of America. They will take your money and provide nothing but headaches. I filed a claims related to plumbing. They sent a contractor that did nothing, just collected the $100 service call fee. I had to call again and they sent me a different contractor company that did exactly the same nothing and I had to pay another $100 service call fee. When I called the Home Warranty of America to express my frustration, I got a customer service representative person that couldn't even speak English. I think their customer service department is overseas. I asked to speak with the Manager and they never returned my call. They called me a month before... Read More

We have previously purchased other home warranties in Virginia before moving to a Massachusetts. This company couldn’t find us a pool repair service call not once but twice in two consecutive years. They take your money but can’t provide the service. Last year I told us to go find our own repairmen because companies in Massachusetts / Rhode Island don’t want to work with them. We went ahead finding our own Contractor whom made minor repairs to the HE filter and pool pump connectors. We wrote up the claim and provided all documents. They denied the claim. It took numerous month, many hours on the phone with various levels within HWA, and complaints to the Massachusetts Consumer Division... Read More

DO NOT ATTEMT ANYTHING WITH THIS COMPANY!!!!! They take your money and provide NOTHING in return. Filed a claim on our range when we purchased the home, fixed it myself (they are still wandering around the office counting flowers on the wallpaper). Denied an HVAC claim as they don't repair the condensation drains putting water under my home (again fixed it myself ...is there a pattern here ... what did I pay for?). Electrician did come out but, took the deductible and haven't seen them since and that was 3 months ago. Do they only have one electrician for our state? This warranty is laughable and sincerely shady. Choose something else because the only thing you get for your money is... Read More

This company is really terrible to their paying customers. I would say kind of a BS company.... works with terrible service vendors. They appear to be super accommodating on the initial buy-in, but I just had a service request for my toilet. Agent instead of redirecting me to the site -- blocks my email and the plumbing service they used was rude and condescending and took my $75 copay. Great! toilet wasn't really fixed and now I'm out $75 --- talk about scammers, both the company and their partners. Please reassess before buying them.

Called in for our tenant's fridge on November 19th, and their tech advised to replace: french door 29 cubic ft fridge not fixable. No action or help from HWA until 15 days later and constant phone calls. Calls going to Guatemala with roosters crowing in the background and promises to take action but zero follow-through. This poor woman had all her food go bad and had to go without refrigerated food at home in a Covid-19 situation all this time, and they have the nerve to offer an inferior brand replacement, with an additional two weeks more to receive delivery. We would have to haul away the bad one ourselves too! Forced to opt for check settlement ...$1495 but replacement is $3000.... Read More
