This company should be ashamed of themselves!! They have increased my long term healthcare insurance premiums every year over the last five years while taking benefits away. They lied when I bought the policy over 13 years ago promising no increase in policy premiums. They take advantage of old people that have invested so much over the years that it is hard to let go of what our investment promised. If these increases continues it is obvious the investment will outweigh any benefit they have left us with. They need to have a "lemon law" in order to sue insurance companies just like they have for car manufacturers!!!

Together my Husband and I have spent nearly 80,000.00. Just got another increase on premium. After, reading all complains customers are facing. Do we walk away now? If they stopped selling premiums in 2016, sounds pretty risky to keep. What happens if they go bankrupt? My husband is 79 and I'm 78. Who would know buying in your fifties that a company would refuse paying when you get older. There should be a law to protect people from being treated this way.

My mother was diagnosed in September with Alzheimer's after a fall. I started the process with John Hancock shortly after her fall. Since the initial contact with representatives from JH, I have experienced nothing but horrible service. People would tell me they were looking into my case, I was given incorrect information in order to just start the process, I have been denied monies stating that form was filled out incorrectly but yet it is the same way I have been filling them out. After sitting on hold for 15-20minutes to reach a representative, they cut me off. I am currently sitting on hold again and it has been over 14 minutes. It is a difficult time and many hardships to deal... Read More

By announcing a 27.27 % premium increase and giving notice that further premium increases will come in the future, JH seems to want long-term policy holders to give up their coverage and lose their years of investment in premiums. How can a respectable insurance company put a policy holder who is at the brink of needing the LTC benefits to such a Hobson’s choice? Outrageous! Time for a class action suit.

Shameful... My mother paid for 25 years to John Hancock for long term care. When she had a stroke we were informed that she could receive $100 per day, which is certainly not enough for care but when we sent in receipts all we got was the run around. After multiple attempts to file a claim, we were told there was no record and then they mysteriously found documents online and sent a denial for the claim. My mother lived with me for two months and we had home care for her and John Hancock is refusing to reimburse us. SHAME ON YOU. GREEDY BASTARDS.

"As of December 2016, John Hancock no longer offers long term care insurance policies. Current policies are still in effect." As it happened, in 2016 the Dept. of insurance in many states and North Carolina voted a cap of 25% increase (whenever the insurances decide it is time) which did not suite did suit John Hancock's. I subscribed in 2006. In 2012, the premium was to increase $600, which I avoided by dropping my inflation protection rate, a valuable protection if infatin shoot up in the future. In 2017, I was notified that my premium would increased $300, due to a "discrepancy between the current policy coverage and the coverage reflected in their system" . No one... Read More

John Hancock LTC insurance is garbage. So, far that have make it impossible to collect anything on my fathers claim, after he payed these basters for over 20 years. There is nothing they have done right. Can't talk to anyone how speaks good English. Constantly getting the runaround, and bad or misleading info. We will end up suing them and it will be well deserved.

I would not recommend John Hancock Long Term Care to anyone! My mother n law has paid on a policy for over 25 years and when we made a claim, the run around began. We made a claim in July 2018 and to this day they have not reimbursed us according to the policy. We have received 0 reimbursed while she has been in an assisted living facility. They seem to not care! The only reason I am giving them one star is that they took her money with no problem every month for over 25 years. It amazes me how this company does not have it together.

My mother in law has paid in to her John Hancock Long Term Care Insurance for DECADES. Now, with dementia, we are caring for her but want some assistance with in home care - which her policy covers in addition to moving to a care facility. Our experience has been AWFUL. Constantly re-fax our POA and they "never receive it" even though we have confirmation of it having gone through. Once they receive that, then we have to start "qualifying" the In Home Care Providers and they must approve. I seriously hope she doesn't pass before we ever get some assistance from this company!! So very frustrated and angry.
