Works only inconsistently; it allows for a lot of control and works on many operating systems but sometimes it reports sites as blocked but doesn’t actually block them.
It noticeably slows down Windows. Find My IPhone does not work with its VPN on. I have to look for something that works reliably.
There are so many things wrong with this app, it is not secure at all, has no social media monitoring despite the site claiming it does. Any child can easily bypass the app or even uninstall it easily.
Seriously, don't use it.
Almost all the reviews of this app I have seen are done by people who clearly have not actually used it in real life and probably do not even have kids. And are just grabbing the details from the Qustodio website and using affiliate links to make money from your clicks or were probably paid for the review.
DO NOT EVEN RISK IT!! This is baaaad software. It will randomly lock devices and say the time limit is exceeded. Then it will not send a request for more time nor will it unlock if you go to their portal and manually unlock the affected devices. It worked perfectly for two days then began it's wanton destruction of my devices. I removed the devices from the portal and it has become permanently locked. You cannot access anything on the computer. You cannot log in as an admin. You cannot access it through the VPN. You lose your device. This software hijacks your system and removes your ownership. I've used Qustodio for a couple of years now and it has gotten much better over time. I initially used it for Android devices only, but as I've slowly migrated to iOS devices, I've found that it is just horrible on iOS. To activate the controls, it uses a VPN, which one of my kids has complained about for the last year. I just installed on a new iOS device and now see just how bad it slows things down. My speeds are down to 5Mbps at the fastest through their VPN (which is required for controls). My speeds before install were 250Mpbs. I cannot also block all of the needed apps on iOS. Way too many limitations for iOS, but if you're using only on Android, it works pretty well.
Do NOT waste your money! This is a Horrible app. Had Qustodio for maybe a year. Qustodio can not access iOS location system, & other features do not work as advertised for iOS/ Apple products. After repeated attempts for tech support from Qustodio, they either replied with a simple response (like uninstall & re-install) not resolving the issue; or didn’t respond at all.
Qustodio has a bug in it that allows kids to bypass certain parts of the system, accessing the Google Play Store and YouTube at their convenience. I have tried reaching out to Qustodio for technical assistance in reporting and hopefully fixing this bug, but instead of wanting to hear about the problem, they canceled my account instead. There is no phone number to call and all support is through email. It's terrible. Customer support is just plain terrible.
This WAS an awesome app! I had it over a year. I worked great for about 10 months. Then my kids got upgraded laptops for school and phones. Not Apple or Macs. I can no longer see messages. It still tracks location fine, monitors websites, and handles time limits but the messaging part is a nightmare. The customer service sent us detailed instructions on a fix but it didn't work. Im on round two. We'll see how it goes. They are responsive. I just think they are behind in technology and need to catch up. Imho.
I wish I could give this a negative review, but am forced to give it a half of a star. My son has a Google Pixel 2. We experimented with getting around the controls, I was able to bypass the block on the play store by repeatedly trying to enter, and was able to download anything I wanted to. I cannot view previous interactions with contacts within the phone as it is blocked by the app.The location services almost never work (we use the google location services without an issue. I followed all of the steps in the "help" section without success. Emailed for assistance and am still waiting for a response from a human. I am not the kind of person to spend time rating products but I feel oblige to leave a review so other don't make the same mistake I did. The description made on the product to give you the ability to review text messages is misleading. I can't review any text message on my kids iPhone (after purchasing the app, I read that is not possible if your kids use iPhones). The other problem is that I can't turn off/disable the use of my kids iPhone. When I set an amount of time for phone use, it does not disable the ability to text, my kids are able to use their phones hours over the allowed time.... I don't recommend the product.
At first, I was able to install the app on both my kids iPhones (old versions) and had no problem...but with new Apple Operating System I've had problems with being able to access each phone...as well as my eldest being able to disconnect it. The GPS tracking has issues, as well as I can't view text messages or some social media sites, such as FB. At first I was able to set time to use the phone, but that function seems to be spotty on my sons phone...my daughters phone I just had to turn off completely as she needs it mor less for school purposes...but due to new operating system I can't really monitor anything! Very disappointing...looks like I need to find another option.
