Embrace gets good marks from us mainly on the strength of customer satisfaction.

Even though plans are a little on the pricier side, and unlimited coverage is not an option, customer feedback is among the most positive.

Also, Embrace offers standard coverage of many conditions and treatments not offered at all by most plans. These include behavioral therapy and prosthetics.

Embrace sets itself apart from the pack in coverage because, in addition to providing for usual accidents and illnesses, the company also covers various items not traditionally offered under other companies' standard plans.

These include prosthetic limbs, behavioral therapy, and alternative treatments. Embrace also offers prescription drug coverage and a wellness plan at an additional cost.

As with all pet insurance plans, Embrace will not cover pre-existing conditions if they were apparent before the policy purchase.

Embrace's waiting periods are pretty much standard when compared to other companies.

For accidents and illnesses, the waiting period is 14 days. However, in some states, the waiting period for accidents is only 48 hours or two days.

There is an additional six month waiting period for dogs for orthopedic conditions, but there is an option to have this reduced to as little as 14 days.

Embrace will not allow pets older than 14 to enroll in illness coverage, which some other plans do.

Embrace has some of the best feedback we've seen when it comes to customer service.

The majority of online reviews mirror generally positive experiences. To make a claim you must fill out the claim form that was included with the enrollment email.

You can also download the form on the website or have it mailed to you. The form must be filled out by a veterinary staff member. Include all relevant invoices and receipts and fax or email them all to the company.

Embrace offers direct deposit to get you the reimbursement as quickly as possible. Furthermore, beginning recently, claim forms can now also uploaded through MyEmbrace, the company's online customer account.

I completed all the paperwork and passed the preliminary wait period for my dog. When my dog had a $700 surgery after the standard waiting period, first they made my vet fill out two claims, because they said it wasn't detailed enough. Fine, but then they wanted me to go to the vet again to obtain records that my dog had visited the vet within a year, otherwise the surgery would be for a pre-existing condition (mind you, they were supposed to collect these records and contact my vet when I first signed up, and this is now the 3rd trip to the vet--1) drop off 1st claim form; 2) drop off 2nd claim form for more detail; 3) pick up copies of records. I purchased insurance for my puppy, when he was 8 weeks old, at 490.00 year. He has had some issues, now my insurance had increased 35%, and is costing 661.00 a year.

I had a legitimate claim that they ran me in circles about for 2 months. They did everything they could to NOT pay and I told them from day 1, they WOULD pay as they would never find a single reason to call this "pre-exiting"! The require vet explanations for things like his HIP dysplasia, from 7 yrs ago and HGE-- ALL at the wrong end of the body for the claim.(he had surgery for a paralyze larynx )! Repeatedly my vet had to be involved and not only did I resent the process...he certainly did too and would NEVER recommend THIS insurance for pets to ANY of his clients, after he saw what I went through for what was obviously a legitimate claim. I’m not happy with this insurance because they don’t want to pay. They find evey excuse not to pay. Please if you don’t want grief and dissatisfaction don’t pick this..

I purchased this insurance for my beloved boxer dog. He was diagnosed with a large cancer mass in his chest and given two to three days to live. I was heartbroken but now I am just angry. Embrace denied my claim because my dog had a skin tag in the past!!!!! Yep they said a skin tag is a pre existing condition of getting a cancer mass. DO NOT BUY THIS INSURANCE THEY WILL NOT PAY YOU!!!!

The worst Pet Insurance ever. My dog had an accident playing with my daughter and fell off a trampoline. Embrace refused to pay for the X-Rays and any treatment with this ACUTE Injury because they said he had an existing condition. An existing condition is a Chronic condition and not an acute accident! I went directly to the President of the company who was not at all helpful. Vet techs are the ones who review all the claims and their knowledge base is very limited. I would not recommend this insurance to anyone.

This company would try to figure out a way to say a newborn puppy or kitten has a pre-existing condition. They want copies of your pet’s vet files and start establishing preexisting conditions based upon the most innocuous things in the vet files. Such as, the pollen made my dogs sneeze. Respiratory illness pre-existing condition! My dog stepped on a thorn and was limping. Orthopedic pre-existing condition! I cancelled after two weeks of emails that had just about winnowed by coverage down to nothing. At least I got a refund. Do not go near this company, it’s a scam.

I had this insurance for several years for my pet. Everytime I would fax a wellness claim, Embrace would open a medical claim instead. For those who are not familiar, if you dont file a medical claim your deductible goes down in price. This past year I decided to try the website instead to avoid the issue. I read all the instructions and followed up with copies of the receipt and paperwork. It happened again, I attempted for multiple days but couldn't get a hold of anyone to address the issue. It was only 4 months ago that we had purchased the policy and our dog was diagnosed with a toe bone rupture which had to be treated immediately by doing a surgery. Embrace reimbursed complete 80% of the amount which included surgery and all bandage change visits. Thank you Embrace !!
