Figo is a Chicago-based pet insurance provider that cover cats and dogs. Founded in 2012, Figo takes a very technology-centric approach to pet insurance, incorporating a cloud-based platform to manage all your medical records and relevant information.

The company offers plans that cap benefits at either $5,000 or $10,000 as well as an unlimited benefit plan.

Figo offers extremely generous coverage for the price. Its standard plan covers items that most high-level plans won't unless they are made available as costly add ons.

Figo is the only company we are aware of that has a 100% reimbursement option at their highest premium rate. The company unlimited coverage as an option. In addition, pet owners can add one of three PowerUps to their plan: Wellness, Veterinary Exam Fee Coverage, or the Extra Care Pack.

However, Figo is relatively new and doesn't match the long track record some of our other featured companies.

Figo offers three plan levels and all of them provide substantial coverage for the price compared to most other companies.

Figo's least expensive plan covers normal accidents and illnesses, but also things like prescriptions, hip dysplasia, alternative treatments, prosthetics, mobility devices, and treatment for behavioral problems.

Figo imposes no exclusions for hereditary or congenital conditions, or pre-existing conditions if they have been cured for 12 months.

Unlike some of our other top companies, Figo does not select unlimited coverage for you as a default. You can choose between $5,000, $10,000, and unlimited.

For complete peace of mind you may have to go with the high end plan to get the unlimited coverage, as advanced techniques and specialized treatments are costing more than ever before. Figo does not operate on a benefit schedule.

Figo covers all dogs and cats 8 weeks and older. There is no upper age limit, which is great as many other plans have one. There are also no breed restrictions.

Waiting periods for accidents and injuries is 1 days, and 14 days for illnesses. There is also a 6-month waiting period for problems associated with hip dysplasia and orthopedic, but the waiting period may be waived if your vet submits a form that certifies your pet has no pre-existing orthopedic conditions.

Figo offers multiple pet discount and a corporate group benefit plan. Discounts may vary by state.

Figo customers have exclusive access to the Figo Pet Cloud app, including features like a 24/7 Virtual Vet and easy mobile claim filing. No pet insurance company covers pre-existing conditions, but Figo is the only one who will help you identify those conditions at the start of your policy. If you don’t think you’ll get value out of pet insurance after your initial review, just cancel within 30 days of signing up for a full refund.

Figo's claims process is completely paperless and features fast and easy mobile claims with an average approval time of 2-5 days. Over 50% of claims are closed in 24 hours. Submit claims right through the Pet Cloud app by simply answering a few questions and sending a picture of the invoice. Evie, Figo’s AI chat assistant, will walk you through the process step by step. Once your claim has been submitted, their real-time claims tracker allows you to see exactly where your claim is in the process. Turnaround times are faster if you select direct deposit.

You can either take a picture of the bill with your phone and submit it via the cloud or uploaded it to your email client and send it that way. Turnaround times are faster than most if you select direct deposit.

I've been a customer of Figo Pet Insurance for a few years and have been quite pleased with the customer service. They are prompt in handling claims, their app and website are easy to use and the explanation of how they processed the claims is honest and helpful. Reimbursement for claims is very fast!

This insurance company has covered everything I have submitted. This big thing is you must follow all rules and submit the proper documentation. If following policy they process very quickly.

Buyer beware. We had FIGO with 2 young healthy dogs, never had a claim. After first year they increased our premiums by almost 100%! Thankfully my dogs were healthy and I could find a new company, but if they had any claims for a condition then I would have be in an unfortunately position, because changing companies is much harder once you have health issues, those become pre exisitng and a new company will not cover them. I guess that is how they "get you" to stay and pay ridiculous price increases. So grateful m y dogs were healthy and I could switch companies and get full coverage else where.

Where should I begin? Figo has been a life-saver for my finances! They reimbursed me on time all the expenses I incurred for the care of my Golden retriever Luke, age 13, for the past two years. Whenever I contact them by phone they always answer in a professional, kind way. I stand behind this compassionate and fair company 100%!!!

We have been with FIGO for 3 years. Outstanding is the word that comes to mind. They have always been nice, yet professional. If we are due a payment it is in our account within 72 hours, or sooner. We have 2 Cavalier King Charles Spaniels and they, unfortunately, are prone to some health issues. No worries though, FIGO will cover breed specific ailments (as is clearly stated, however, pre-existing conditions are not covered....this is the same policy for all insurance companies). What sets FIGO apart from the rest is the ability to customize your plan, their quick payments, wonderful customer service, and their Pet Cloud. Oh, and, they covered my 15 year old cat!! Love FIGO! Customer service is always helpful, understanding and super nice. They process claims fast and money is reimbursed quickly. I have only had good experiences with them. We've had FIGO for 3 years on both our pups and I always highly recommend them. I would never have an uninsured pup! Eases your mind to be able to have the best care without thinking about money.

Recently had to take my pup in for emergency care over 4th of July holiday. I was astounded at how quickly FIGO answered my call regarding procedures to be followed during their underwriting transition and beyond thrilled when I received the expected reimbursement 2 days later. Great company with easy claim process & knowledgeable staff who are very friendly. They deliver what they promise!!!
