With 72 years under its belt, Lowe's has provided an array of home improvement products through the years, including major and minor home appliances, hardware, electrical, plumbing, paint and building supplies. The company only offers repairs and services to store-bought appliances, but with over 10 brands supported and an ample list of premium protection plan benefits, customers can confide in Lowe's ability to offer the services they need.

Lowe's Appliance Repair Services

Appliance Repair Services - 5 / 5

Lowe's offers appliance repair services through the manufacturer's warranty and through their appliance protection plan. If the problem is covered by either of these, the appliance will be repaired by a certified technician at no cost. However, if it is not covered, repairs may be offered by the technician at the customer's expense. The protection plan promises basic benefits, such as functional part and labor coverage, normal wear and tear repair, and reinstallation coverage, among others. Unfortunately, the plan's terms and conditions mention that they do not cover accidental damage or abuse, routine maintenance and consumables, and cosmetic damage, unless specified. Here at ConsumersAdvocate we recommend customers to read the terms and conditions thoroughly to inform themselves on Lowe's protection plan features and restrictions. Lowe's also offers a replacement plan, but is only eligible for products that retail for less than $300, after all discounts have been applied. This excludes major appliances and water heaters.

Lowe's Additional Services

Additional Services - 4.5 / 5

Lowe's does not offer home improvement or home maintenance features unless covered by their appliance protection plan. However, they offer technician-certified installations for their appliances, and their protection plan offers various premium benefits, such as a 30% payback reward benefit in case you end up not using your plan for repair issues, and a 50% reimbursement on preventative maintenance items, such as water and air filters.

Lowe's Customer Service and Reputation

Customer Service/Reputation - 4 / 5

Lowe's is not BBB accredited, but it has an A+ on their website. As it's common with long-standing companies, Lowe's has a low score on review sites like Trustpilot. Lowes does not mention a satisfaction guarantee on their repair services, but it typically offers a 30 day return policy on appliance purchases, and free functioning parts and labor coverage on appliances as long as the problem is covered by the manufacturer's warranty or their protection program.

Bosch dishwasher went dead on Christmas day. Called day after, seemed to go OK with getting a repair person the following Thursday. Repair company called and said they don't service our area, call Lowes back. You would think the repair company would? Anyway, called Lowes back several times, getting the run around. No answer, no schedule, no communication. Last appliance we buy from them.

I had a problem with my dryer on the 2nd and have purchased the extended warranty. A tech is sent a few days later. He states he needs to order parts. Five business days later, I called and the tech stated the part is there and they were getting ready to call me and will be out in two days. Because I had to take a day off for my 4 hour repair window, I call the next day to confirm and make the part is there. I am assured they have it and confirm appt. My "window" is from 8-12. At 11:45 the tech calls and is asking my to take pictures of the dryer because they haven't ordered the part. I call Lowes they apologize and do nothing. I am now waiting 3 business days, which will be 16th,... Read More

Terrible. Washer went out after 1.5 years. Purchased 5-year warranty, Lowe's couldn't find it in the system. Finally Lowe's found my receipt and uploaded it into the system after having me search for my copy. Lowe's scheduled me an appointment for repair, repair service cancelled, according to ACS by Lowes, because Lowes cancelled the parts request, although Lowe's says that is not possible. Lowe's scheduled me a second time, ACS called 1 day before repair and cancelled because still didn't have parts. Lowe's customer service a joke, ACS is just totally unprofessional and doesn't assist. I have standing dirty water in my tub for now going on 2 weeks. Parts were "ordered" again... Read More

I am extremely disappointed in Lowe’s appliance repair services! We had a new stove to be converted to use propane instead of natural gas (parts to convert about $40) Now, having had a gas line installed from the street to the home, we want to return to the original setup, the parts that came with the unit (which are always left attached to the back of the stove,) are gone and Whirlpool nor Lowe’s is willing to do anything about the fact that their repair technician took our parts! The cost to replace the parts he took (without permission) is not the same as the part cost we needed for propane, it is over $200! “Due to the stove being 2 years old, it is out of warranty, sorry” is all I... How can you provide a 20-digit Lowe's Extended Protection Plan number and still not be able to schedule service because you don't happen to have the appliance's serial number handy? I'm willing to bet body parts that when they typed in my protection plan number that the appliance's serial number immediately came up on their system. That, in and of itself, is enough to not renew (let alone purchase) another extended plan warranty from this company. On a side note, they say they value veteran's - this veteran didn't feel very valued by this experience.

We have tried to get a repairman from Lowe’s to come and fix our refrigerator, the communication with the contact person they put us in touch with lacks reliability. It looks like we will be without a refrigerator for a week, maybe longer. We also have the extended warranty for this LG refrigerator, which is only 16 months old. The rep from Lowe’s told us “just rent” a refrigerator until this one is fixed! Very disappointed in this lacking service Lowe’s.

We are having a horrible experience with Lowe's service advantage trying to get our GE washing machine fixed which is under their extended protection plan. Last year it took them 4 months to fix it. The machine is down again. Its been a month and they are so ill coordinated. First they send some company who thinks i did physical damage to the machine. Then i asked for a different one. They send GE but without transferring any warranty details. So as a courtsey i pay the fee which i'm not supposed to pay with the promise of getting reimbursed. Now i'm being told i have setup these things all on my own and they canceled all the appointments as if I am going to get it fixed myself.... Read More

My dishwasher is now covered by Lowes extended warrantee. The dishwasher's door paint is peeling off at one area where the steam comes out. Lowes sent one of their subcontractors and the technician told me that the paint was coming off due to overheating due to the steam and that he needs to talk to Lowes. I waited over 10 days and no one called. Then, I called Lowes and they said that that is not covered due to rust that could have been prevented. I told them that there is no rust and to please have someone from Lowes come to my house and check it out, or I could just email them a photo. They simply said that they will not cover it. So, beware of Lowes extended warrantee. They just get... Read More

Do yourself a favor: DO NOT buy anything from Walmart or Low's (they are partner companies) My fiance bought the washer from Low's. I would not buy any major appliances from affiliated store with Walmart which is LOW's Low quality Lie to people charge money for warranty that later on they don't cover you for what you paid The worst part is when you need repair, they are good at NOT SHOWING up at all an then find an excuse and reschedule you for another week

We purchased a Samsung refrigerator in 2015 and also was sold a 5 year extended warranty. They were quick to sell the warranty with the promise if something went wrong if would be fixed or replaced. Today 09/06/19 the refrigerator quit cooling. We called the warranty program and was first told if we "caused the problem" we would be billed for the service call and repair. ONLY after agreeing to that stipulation, since I'm not sure what we could have done to cause any problem, would they schedule a repair. THEN told us the repair would be 6 days later, 09/12/2019. What we did about not having refrigeration for our food was our problem. When I complained I was put on hold for 10... Read More
