With 72 years under its belt, Lowe's has provided an array of home improvement products through the years, including major and minor home appliances, hardware, electrical, plumbing, paint and building supplies. The company only offers repairs and services to store-bought appliances, but with over 10 brands supported and an ample list of premium protection plan benefits, customers can confide in Lowe's ability to offer the services they need.

Lowe's Appliance Repair Services

Appliance Repair Services - 5 / 5

Lowe's offers appliance repair services through the manufacturer's warranty and through their appliance protection plan. If the problem is covered by either of these, the appliance will be repaired by a certified technician at no cost. However, if it is not covered, repairs may be offered by the technician at the customer's expense. The protection plan promises basic benefits, such as functional part and labor coverage, normal wear and tear repair, and reinstallation coverage, among others. Unfortunately, the plan's terms and conditions mention that they do not cover accidental damage or abuse, routine maintenance and consumables, and cosmetic damage, unless specified. Here at ConsumersAdvocate we recommend customers to read the terms and conditions thoroughly to inform themselves on Lowe's protection plan features and restrictions. Lowe's also offers a replacement plan, but is only eligible for products that retail for less than $300, after all discounts have been applied. This excludes major appliances and water heaters.

Lowe's Additional Services

Additional Services - 4.5 / 5

Lowe's does not offer home improvement or home maintenance features unless covered by their appliance protection plan. However, they offer technician-certified installations for their appliances, and their protection plan offers various premium benefits, such as a 30% payback reward benefit in case you end up not using your plan for repair issues, and a 50% reimbursement on preventative maintenance items, such as water and air filters.

Lowe's Customer Service and Reputation

Customer Service/Reputation - 4 / 5

Lowe's is not BBB accredited, but it has an A+ on their website. As it's common with long-standing companies, Lowe's has a low score on review sites like Trustpilot. Lowes does not mention a satisfaction guarantee on their repair services, but it typically offers a 30 day return policy on appliance purchases, and free functioning parts and labor coverage on appliances as long as the problem is covered by the manufacturer's warranty or their protection program.

Through the years we've purchased numerous washers and dryers and fridges and ranges with Lowes and purchased the Extended Protection Plan. On 05-01-19 my washers stopped working and I called Lowes Service Advantage to arrange a service call. The repairman came on 05-03-19 and was very professional, and told my husband and myself that the washer needed 3 major parts and that because of the parts failure the drum overflowed water and rusted the leg, which was hazardous. He told us that he would recommend that my washer was replaced and that I would get things resolved within two days. My husband called Lowes service advantage on 05-05 and 05-06 and 05-07 asking for status, and was told... Read More

After three years of use the Washer tub bearing began to fail the third week of March, 2019. It got worse and worse the next week. I called Lowes warranty program 3/21/19. The man was very nice and scheduled a repairman visit for the following Tuesday, but he came Monday as was in the area. The repairman simply spun the tub by hand and said the bearing had gone bad, it could only be replaced by installing a new transmission. He said they would order it and it would arrive in 3-5 days, and I would be called then. No one every contacted me from Lowes, ever. When I called them after four days, I was told it's an expensive part and they might want to replace the washer instead of paying for... Read More

The 1st of Nov. , 2018, I reported a dishwasher from Lowe's, less than 1 year old (I bought a refrigerator, range and dishwasher from them--and in the warranty)--for not cleaning the dishes. They referred me to a local repair shop, who they contracted with. They came out at least 4 times, possibly 5...3 of which were after the warranty. However, I asked them about the warranty, since I called about the malfunction DURING the warranty, and I was assured that they would fix it at no cost, since I had called during the warranty time period. Never was I told that I would owe them. Then yesterday (3-15-19). I received a bill for 12-20-18 for almost $247. I called the repair shop and... Read More

Do not purchase the warranty. Lowe's contracts the repairs to businesses in need of customers and in my case this means a company with terrible reviews and unsatisfied customers. I'm so mad with the appliance repair company that visited my house twice. The first tech (inexperienced) never took apart anything to determine what might be the issue and instead calls another tech to describe what's wrong (only the freezer works) and they were certain which part needed to be ordered and replaced. I wait another week for the part to be shipped and a different tech visits to install the new part. My refrigerator is not fixed.

Why on earth do you give Lowe’s a high ranking (10 out of 10) in appliance repair? Who are you folks working for? Just read the first two reviews below. They both tear Lowe’s apart. I, too, would like to tear Lowe’s apart. The corporation does whatever needed to stiff its customers. A stove less than 2years old with a Lowe’s warranty was reported broken on 12/20/18. It is now 2/16/19. There have been four service visits without a fix, plus two canceled service visits due to wrong parts. If you need an appliance, go elsewhere.

Do not trust the warranty from Lowes, I bought a lemon of a fridge that was repaired numerous times during the first year under the manufacturer warranty then it switched over to the Lowes warranty and I was assured the issue would be handled. I thought the manufacturer was bad, Lowes service is the worst, I am told I don't have a warranty to call back and be told I do have the 3 year warranty and they do not keep repair records!!! Beware this has been a horrible experience that no one should have to deal with.

we bought a scratch and dent GE fridge from Lowes 8 mo ago. The salesperson told us it was gone over by their repair person and other than a few scratches it was fine. I just recently took out the shelves and bins and dicovered the plastic housing is all cracked. I've never seen anything like it. Called Lowes to complain about not being informed about this damage. If anyone had told us of course we would not have purchased it. They should never have sold it in that condition. Their attitude was too bad, your stuck with it. I'll never buy from Lowes again and want to warn everyone about Lowes very poor customer servive. Bad store policy.
