With 72 years under its belt, Lowe's has provided an array of home improvement products through the years, including major and minor home appliances, hardware, electrical, plumbing, paint and building supplies. The company only offers repairs and services to store-bought appliances, but with over 10 brands supported and an ample list of premium protection plan benefits, customers can confide in Lowe's ability to offer the services they need.

Lowe's Appliance Repair Services

Appliance Repair Services - 5 / 5

Lowe's offers appliance repair services through the manufacturer's warranty and through their appliance protection plan. If the problem is covered by either of these, the appliance will be repaired by a certified technician at no cost. However, if it is not covered, repairs may be offered by the technician at the customer's expense. The protection plan promises basic benefits, such as functional part and labor coverage, normal wear and tear repair, and reinstallation coverage, among others. Unfortunately, the plan's terms and conditions mention that they do not cover accidental damage or abuse, routine maintenance and consumables, and cosmetic damage, unless specified. Here at ConsumersAdvocate we recommend customers to read the terms and conditions thoroughly to inform themselves on Lowe's protection plan features and restrictions. Lowe's also offers a replacement plan, but is only eligible for products that retail for less than $300, after all discounts have been applied. This excludes major appliances and water heaters.

Lowe's Additional Services

Additional Services - 4.5 / 5

Lowe's does not offer home improvement or home maintenance features unless covered by their appliance protection plan. However, they offer technician-certified installations for their appliances, and their protection plan offers various premium benefits, such as a 30% payback reward benefit in case you end up not using your plan for repair issues, and a 50% reimbursement on preventative maintenance items, such as water and air filters.

Lowe's Customer Service and Reputation

Customer Service/Reputation - 4 / 5

Lowe's is not BBB accredited, but it has an A+ on their website. As it's common with long-standing companies, Lowe's has a low score on review sites like Trustpilot. Lowes does not mention a satisfaction guarantee on their repair services, but it typically offers a 30 day return policy on appliance purchases, and free functioning parts and labor coverage on appliances as long as the problem is covered by the manufacturer's warranty or their protection program.

We purchased a Samsung refrigerator in 2015 and also was sold a 5 year extended warranty. They were quick to sell the warranty with the promise if something went wrong if would be fixed or replaced. Today 09/06/19 the refrigerator quit cooling. We called the warranty program and was first told if we "caused the problem" we would be billed for the service call and repair. ONLY after agreeing to that stipulation, since I'm not sure what we could have done to cause any problem, would they schedule a repair. THEN told us the repair would be 6 days later, 09/12/2019. What we did about not having refrigeration for our food was our problem. When I complained I was put on hold for 10... Read More

I have been very unsatisfied with this warranty. The wait time for service is much longer then if I was to use the local appliance company. I had a service issue reported on July 20,2019 they did not arrive until 8/6/19 and was unable to repair it. They ordered parts and came back on 8/22/19 and were unable to repair it. Now it is scheduled for 9/13/19 as their next scheduled date and they are "unsure" if this will resolve the issues but they are running of it options of what it could be. I am very dissatisfied.

I called Lowe’s on my extended warranty for my washer and they gave me a company A and E Factory Service to set up appointment. Got an appointment between 1 and 5 pm. We called at 445pm and said no one called or showed up and they said tech was on way. No one showed up so I called and they put me and hold , then hung up. I called back another person put me on hold, then hung up. This happened 4 times with 4 different people and the last time I requested a manager and they would not put anyone on then the phone was disconnected. I can’t believe Lowe’s is associated with a company like this. My wife took a vacation day and waited all day for nothing. Now we still have a washer that’s not... Read More

I purchased a Whirlpool refrigerator with a service contract 2 years ago. When I had a problem with my refrigerator not cooling I called Lowe’s Service Advantage and was told it would be 12 days for service to come to my home. They offered a buy out but since I bought the refrigerator on sale, I would have to pay about $400 in addition to what the company offered me for my refrigerator. Don’t waste your money on a service agreement

I have been 3 months without a washer machine!! The first company that Lowes sent said he part was going to take 3 to 5 days, after a month of waiting and no answer from the company Lowes sent another company. The company told us that Lowes was going to contact us back since repairing the washer was going to be more expensive that a new one. Lowes did not call back so we called again and now that told us that they will send a gift card with way less than the amount we paid for the washer so we can get another washer in their store but we will have to pay out of pocket for the warranty on the new washer.

WOW, I don’t know where to start. A month ago I call Lowe's and placed a service call for a GE Dishwasher I purchase 6 months ago. The tech came in check the machine and said he had to order parts. Once I received the parts he returned GE/Lowe's send the wrong part so here we were waiting another 2 weeks before he returned. Finally the part was received he came back, but still the machine was not working. The tech and his associate took the machine apart and told my husband that the dishwasher was not repairable due to the fact the rats had damaged the cables. (They left the machine taken apart and the electrical cable was loose and live they did not even suggested to my husband... Read More

Bought a new frigidaire microwave that worked for about two weeks. Called lowes on May 8rd. they said they would send someone out to fix the problem. Said they would be here on May 10th no show. Showed up on 14th. Ordered parts, said I will be back on 21st no show. They did not show up until June 18th and still did not fix the problem. Said had to order more parts and be back on June 25th no show again. Still no microwave and I guess if I ever get it repaired the warranty will have run out and I will get no use out of this microwave for over two months . Totally unexceptable

For a little over a year I have been trying to get both the manufacture and then Lowes (under their extended warranty) to replace or give me my money back for a Whirlpool refrigerator that makes an excessive noise. The manufacture replaced the condenser and then said nothing else was wrong with the frig. Under the manufacture they tech came out 4 times with no resolution to the noise. Because the noise is still loud I suggested it must be a design flaw. They said no and said they had done all they were required to do. At the one year mark the extended warranty kicked in. Lowes sent out one technician who said that yes it was noisy, but, that that noise is just they way this model was.... Read More

We recently moved from Hendersonville, TN to Prattville, AL. Both Hville and Pville have a Lowes and a Home Depot. The Lowes store in Hville was far superior to Home Depot. As a result of our move we needed all new appliances. We chose Lowes in Pville for our appliance purchases based on our experience in TN. After 14 months and a very unsatisfactory encounter with Lowes management today--Pville Home Depot is far superior [in every regard] to Lowes. The lack of concern for a service issue and the hostility exhibited at Pville Lowes today exceeds any [except for one with GM in 1980] I have experienced at any retail establishment in my 73 years.
