Ambetter is a health insurance company owned by the Centene Corporation, which is a multi-national healthcare company that provides programs and services to under-insured and uninsured individuals. Ambetter offers customers affordable health care plans in 14 states including Arkansas, Arizona, Georgia, Florida, Indiana, and Nevada, among others.

Ambetter is Centene Corporation’s option for a health insurance marketplace, so it’s intended for individuals who lack health insurance, and possibly don’t qualify for traditional plans.

What’s Included in Ambetter’s Health Insurance Plans?

Ambetter health insurance plans offer prescription coverage, mental and behavioral health services, integrated care management, maternity and newborn care, 24/7 nurse advice line, Ambetter Telehealth, My Health Pays Rewards, and optional vision and dental coverage for adults.

The company has three plan options to choose from: Ambetter Essential Care, Ambetter Balanced Care, and Ambetter Secure Care, which are classified as bronze, silver, and gold, respectively.

The Ambetter Essential Care offers lower monthly premium payments, but higher out-of-pocket expenses, the Ambetter Balanced Care offers the best balance between monthly premium payments and out-of-pocket expenses, and the Ambetter Secure Care has higher monthly premium payments, but limits your out-of-pocket expenses.

Each plan has a different type of coverage and payment, but all of them include essential health benefits such as emergency services, hospitalization. outpatient or ambulatory services, preventive and wellness services, maternity and newborn care, pediatric services, mental health and substance abuse services, and laboratory services, among others.

Overall, Ambetter offers flexible healthcare options that fit different budgets and needs, with a few perks like the company’s My Health Pays Rewards, which allows customers to pay for medical expenses with the money they earn through the program, a 24/7 nurse advice line, and Ambetter Telehealth, which provides 24/7 phone or video access to in-network providers for non-emergency health issues. Since signing up with this insurance it has been a long list of lies, lack of correct communication, hang up’s, put on hold and sent to health market. gov. I again hv been on hold 30+ minutes with this insurance addressing an issue I have addressed multiple times. I have spent hours and hours on the phone with reps, managers getting clarity on several issues. I can’t imagine how a person with age, disability or lack of free time would ever be able to try and get to the truth and or clarify if having issues/questions. Ambetter Insurance is the worst provider ever. They have foreigners answering the phones, they do not know how to navigate their own systems to answer easy questions like...where can I get blood work, or where can I go to get a bone density test. They have over charged y credit card for monthly premiums, and all I ever get on the phone is "we are sorry ma'am for the inconvenience". I would NOT recommend this insurance, nor would I wish the horrific customer service (which there is none) to my worst enemy. I have never been so frustrated in my life to have to go through these experiences to take care of my health. HORRIBLE COMANY....TERRIBLE...THE WORST

The insurance is AWFUL. In 4 months I still do not have my insurance cards. I am unable to obtain online access to their system due to a glitch which has been reported 4 times in 4 months. Since I am unable to access their system so I called to obtain copies of MY claims. They are unable to provide them and requested I obtain from my providers. WTF! All representatives request a phone number to return the call and they never do. This operation has been outsourced in the Philippines and who knows where else. Beware the people are money hungry and I bet they are taking advantage of the government as well as customers like me. I had been with Ambetter for a few years and last year I decide not to renew for 2022 because I didn’t like being almost forced to go to the doctor….my philosophy is if it isn’t broke, don’t fix it! I kept getting calls and e-mails that I needed to enroll in Ambetter but I blocked all the calls from them and they finally stopped. Absolutely incompetent customer service! They will read off scripts rather than try to actually try to help you. They hung up more than once when confronted with a problem that they didn't want to help with. They demanded we get an urgent care to call them about a bill that was supposed to be covered by their policy because they said it was out of network when their website clearly stated it was in network. Stay as far away from this shady company!!!!!

This health care outfit has owed me a refund of over $600 since the end of the year. It is now the end of February and I have still not received it after at least 6 calls to them. I have documented each call with times and dates and names, along with refund id numbers, service request numbers and dates of processes and submissions. Every time I contact them, I wait at least 25 minutes for them to 'check' on something and then get disconnected. Do not allow them to steal your money!

Ambetter charges high rates but does not provide even basic care. I signed up for care under the Nevada health exchange and then used their "find a doctor" to set up a physical. I spent 6 hours calling different numbers. The list is so out-of-date that it is a serious burden trying to find a general practitioner. And for those you do get in contact with, no appointments are available for 3 or 4 months. I finally called Ambetter and they told me that I could get an appointment in the next city sooner probably and I should start calling people far away from where I live. Save yourself the hassle and do not buy the Ambetter Value product in 2022! There is no out-of-network coverage and there are no specialists or imaging centers in the network due to the insurance companies' negligence. Choose any other product but the value option.

Ambetter insurance's supply processing and customer service is ridiculous. Don't buy this insurance if you'll actually need to utilize it. I have been trying to obtain supplies for my insulin pump (I have type 1 diabetes) for over a month. I need these supplies to live. The medical supply company they require me to use (large supply chain) tells me they have sent 5 requests for prior authorization in the last month. I have called twice today with both calls being disconnected after 45 minutes and 79 minutes without any returned calls (even though they initially verified my "call back number" at the beginning of both calls). My name is Daniel Rodriguez and I have been an Ambetter client for the last 3 years. The TERRIBLE SERVICE that Ambetter provides only compares with their advanced capacity to deny most claims, calculate deductibles in forms nobody understands, never provide a definitive answer or solve a problem (for good or for bad). Since Nov 23, 2021 I have been trying to get Ambetter to explain why they deny payment to my psychologist for therapy sessions. To this date (Jan 25, 2022) at least 7 different persons in Ambetter have provided 7 different explanations and none of them have been able to prove that they were telling the truth or solving the problem.
