Choice Home Warranty offers existing homeowners two plans, each of which cover a mix of systems and appliances. The primary difference between its Total plan and its Basic plan is that refrigerators, washers and dryers, and air conditioning systems are not included in the Basic Plan. Optional coverage for such items as pools and spas, well pumps, and septic systems is available for an additional fee. We requested a quote for a single family home of less than 5000 square feet in a small midwestern city. The premium for Choice Home Warranty's Basic was $47.85 per month and the premium for its Total pan was $54.95 per month. With the cost difference between the two plans being only about $7 per month, to our mind, the Total plan a better value overall because it includes coverage for three of the most common appliances: refrigerators, washers, and dryers. It also includes coverage for air conditioning systems.

The company's co-pay for a service call is $85, slightly less than most comparable companies. The co-pay may be reduced further with special discounts and promotions.

Cancellation Policy

The contract shall be non-cancelable by the company except for nonpayment of contract fees or service fees, fraud or misrepresentation of facts by the customer, or by agreement between client and company. Customers may cancel within the first 30 days of the order date for a full refund of the paid contract fees. If canceled after 30 days, the customer shall be entitled to a pro rata refund of the paid contract fee for the unexpired term, less a $50 administrative fee and any service costs incurred by the company.

My A/C unit would not turn on. I contacted Choice Warranty, they contacted 123 HVAC, We scheduled an appointment the next day. 123 HVAC repaired the unit. Everything backup and running. Quick and Efficient!

This is by far the most frustrating company I have ever worked with. Be sure to call them when you have plenty of spare time as hold times are generally in access of 20+ minutes. Of course if you press the prompt to order new coverage they answer the phone immediately. Once you submit your claim they dispatch a contractor. If you're lucky he will call you back. Most don't. Then comes the task of waiting for them to arrive, if they ever show. I have been stood up numerous times wasting countless hours and missing work. Many of the service subcontractors they hire are not knowledgeable or it is not their area of expertise. Their diagnostic assessments are frequently incorrect. I have had... Read More

I had an issue with my Kitchen Refrigerator and it seemed like it was beginning to warm up instead of keeping cold when I went to get the Milk, it was not as cold as usual. Upon finding out that it was not left out or anything like that, I checked other foods and they all seemed warmer than usual. I tried to hike the colder setting but with no luck. so I called Choice Home Warranty (to use my warrant coverage plan) for getting it checked and repaired. They were courteous, and got me the right Technicians to come and fix it with no hassle and no issues. This has been the worst home warranty company that I have ever used. In addition to the $425 policy (which was fine at the time), my first claim, they only covered $90 out of a $955 bill. Their reasoning for not covering more was absurd! Do NOT risk going with this company. They are more interested in protecting themselves than protecting you! TERRIBLE!!!
