Overall Rating: 4.6 / 5 (Excellent)

Choice Home Warranty offers a full array of home appliance and systems coverage at a competitive price. The company offers two plans for existing home owners —Basic and Total. In addition to a monthly premium, customers can expect to pay an $85 service fee each time they make a claim, which falls in low-to-mid range when compared to other home warranty companies.

You can submit a claim 24/7, including holidays, via phone, online, or app. The company utilizes proprietary technology to begin the dispatching process after a claim is filed. The company has recently updated their plans increasing coverage and has fewer limitations. Their plans and optional coverage can cover over 25 major systems and appliances.

Choice Home Warranty earns a B rating from the Better Business Bureau and has a positive rating on Trustpilot, but in this industry, negative customer reviews far outnumber positive ones.

Coverage Options - 4.5 / 5

Choice Home Warranty offers existing homeowners two plans, each of which cover a mix of systems and appliances. The primary difference between its Total plan and its Basic plan is that refrigerators, washers and dryers, and air conditioning systems are not included in the Basic Plan. Optional coverage for such items as pools and spas, well pumps, and septic systems is available for an additional fee. The company states that, in any case, its total liability for any single item is capped at $3000, but lower limits do apply to some covered items.

We requested a quote for a single family home of less than 5000 square feet in a small midwestern city. The premium for Choice Home Warranty's Basic was $47.85 per month and the premium for its Total pan was $54.95 per month. With the cost difference between the two plans being only about $7 per month, to our mind, the Total plan a better value overall because it includes coverage for three of the most common appliances: refrigerators, washers, and dryers. It also includes coverage for air conditioning systems.

The company's co-pay for a service call is $85, slightly less than most comparable companies. The co-pay may be reduced further with special discounts and promotions.

Stay away from this company. They have been banned in 12 states. Just settled a large lawsuit. Choice Home Warranty is a scam.

Choice is the worst warranty company, they cover very little, always a reason they will not cover. was told when I bought the warranty they cover feron, well no they don't if it is secondary .... hold in pipe, not covered.... compressor just went out not covered... reason... short to ground was what the tech put down, normal wear and tear..... Choice reason they said was it wasn't maintained... wrong.. they never saw any pic or records about it, then they changed the reason to the compressor goes out for 4 reasons elect surge, feron contamination, overflow restriction or factory defect. RUN RUN as fast as you can from this company.

My tenant reported an electrical problem but the request was subsequently suspended. Even though the electrician never had to provide service, the follow up by Choice and the service technician was outstanding. In view of the tenant and my apartment manager being very difficult to reach and not responding very well, I feel the service from Choice was excellent.

Absolutely the worst customer service ever. They used every trick to make the claim process as difficult as possible. They have also cost me hundreds of dollars getting tests carried out by different engineers, claiming it was part of their claim process. Now, after several weeks from the original date of the claim, they have refused to pay for repairs to my air conditioning system, claiming its due to "lack of maintenance", this is despite an engineers report stating structural failure. I am currently seeking legal action against the company.

I put in a complaint online about faucets leaking from the handle. No response. I entered it again, no response. I tried to call and was told extended wait times so I hung up. I sent two emails a week apart. Absolutely no response from either. I gave up, until, my water heater is leaking. I call them. They are going to send someone out. I ask about the faucet complaints. I was told they don't cover leaking faucets. That would have been nice to know, 6 weeks ago. Oh and the water heater isn't covered either even though it says on their web site the water heater is covered, the fine print says only parts, not the whole water heater. Policy cancelled........

Have had several claims this year and Choice warranty has already paid for itself. They. quickly assign a repairman to your claim. I have been pleased overall with them.

I made a switch from American Home Shield to Choice Home Warranty thinking I'd save a little money on the service call. Well, I might regret that change. I submitted a claim on my AC unit. The repairman came out, I paid the $45.00 service fee. The fan motor on the outside unit gave out and I needed a new one. CHW told me my claim would be rejected because it was "pre-existing". I don't even know what to say. It was working when I bought the warranty and a month later, its not. The claim supervisor said she would off me $100.00 payment on a $185.00 repair as a good will gesture. I accepted politely but Im not happy at all. I had American Home Shield for the 3 years prior to... Read More

I discovered an issue with my washer that was not under my control. Even though Choice said they couldn't cover my claim, the representative (forgot his name) went out of his way to get authorization and got a large portion of the cost of my new washer covered! Now that's great customer service!

We have had a great experience with Choice Home Warranty. Our washer broke and wasn't able to be fixed, we received money to buy and new one. Have enjoyed being a customer with them!
