Choice Home Warranty offers a full array of home appliance and systems coverage at a competitive price. The company offers two plans for existing home owners —Basic and Total. In addition to a monthly premium, customers can expect to pay an $85 service fee each time they make a claim, which falls in low-to-mid range when compared to other home warranty companies.

You can submit a claim 24/7, including holidays, via phone, online, or app. The company utilizes proprietary technology to begin the dispatching process after a claim is filed. The company has recently updated their plans increasing coverage and has fewer limitations. Their plans and optional coverage can cover over 25 major systems and appliances.

Choice Home Warranty earns a B rating from the Better Business Bureau and has a positive rating on Trustpilot, but in this industry, negative customer reviews far outnumber positive ones.

Coverage Options - 4.5 / 5

Choice Home Warranty offers existing homeowners two plans, each of which cover a mix of systems and appliances. The primary difference between its Total plan and its Basic plan is that refrigerators, washers and dryers, and air conditioning systems are not included in the Basic Plan. Optional coverage for such items as pools and spas, well pumps, and septic systems is available for an additional fee. The company states that, in any case, its total liability for any single item is capped at $3000, but lower limits do apply to some covered items.

We requested a quote for a single family home of less than 5000 square feet in a small midwestern city. The premium for Choice Home Warranty's Basic was $47.85 per month and the premium for its Total pan was $54.95 per month. With the cost difference between the two plans being only about $7 per month, to our mind, the Total plan a better value overall because it includes coverage for three of the most common appliances: refrigerators, washers, and dryers. It also includes coverage for air conditioning systems.

The company's co-pay for a service call is $85, slightly less than most comparable companies. The co-pay may be reduced further with special discounts and promotions.

Vary professional and knowledgeable . Fixed my AC unit in no time. Found separate issue that wasn’t the reason I called.

It took 2 months for a tech to come and install the parts. 1st one did not have the oven dolly and wanted another $400 for a helper. Thankfully another person came and installed the 1 part (2 mos later). No need for the other part. Still looking for the payment from the initial visit. Not the best warranty company. I have 2 policies and 50% completed repairs. Never repaired the convection microwave. Trying now to do an a/c claim, wish me luck. Works fine on garbage disposer repairs.

I was very upset with how my last claim was managed. My AC went out. The AC contractor was great, came out diagnosed and submitted parts needed to Choice. Choice ordered the wrong part...THREE TIMES. The AC contractor made the decision to order it themselves to get my AC back up and running AFTER 4 1/2 weeks out of service in 90 degree temperatures!!!. Unacceptable. Not renewing.

My sales person was very courteous and knowledgeable. His patience and thoroughness cultivated confidence in Choice Home Warranty. I'm excited for the peace of mind and I have told friends who might find this level of protection beneficial as well.

CHW was unable to locate a technician who could make the repair. They gave me the option to locate my own repairman and I accepted because a full week had passed and I wanted to get the issue fixed. So after I located a repairman CHW started asking all sorts of questions, day after day, a new question. CHW took a full day to reply to my answers to their questions. Finally, after a full week of this stuff I was completely worn down and exhausted by their questions and by their process, they denied my claim for an extremely incorrect reason. I am considering my options which include submitting a complaint against them with the California Department of Insurance, the Orange County DA's... Read More

The hvac tech was great, very professional, however the plumber that came for our second service ticket was pretty ragtag. My only complaint with Choice is the length of time it takes from when the claim is opened until it is closed. In this instance our A/C repair ticket was over 60 hours and it was 88 degrees in our house by the time the repair was completed yesterday. That’s unacceptable in my opinion, so much for the 24-48 hours which you advertise on your website.

Hi, I am a homeowner, after reviewing my current home warranty provider ''home shield'' that I've had for many years, and it just went up last month from 86.00 a month to over100,00 a month. I considered ''Choice Home'' warranty insurance. It is the same good coverage, although much better rates and service fees. Then, after talking with the agent, I found out that being a senior, and a veteran, they have even better rates. So, yeah, it' was a no-brainer to switch over. Do yourself a favor, look at your current warranty information and compare pricings, if you don't have this kind of coverage, you may want to consider getting it, as a homeowner, we invest a lot of capital just...
