Our Overall Rating: 2 / 5 (Poor)

Fidelity National's prices are inline with industry standards, though their service fees are slightly higher, and its guaranteed response time is a bit longer than that of other companies.

We feel the need to mention that Fidelity National has been the target of a state insurance regulatory action and a class action suit, requiring that customers give up their right to a jury trial in any legal dispute.

Coverage Options - 3 / 5

Fidelity National covers many of the usual systems and appliances, as well as a few specialty items.

However, coverage for refrigerators, washers/dryers, air conditioning units, pool and spa equipment and septic tank leaks and roof leaks are not part of the standard coverage, but must be purchased separately when the contract is signed.

Unlike some other home warranty companies, the company does not cover system or appliance failures due to lack of maintenance.

Fidelity National is accredited by the BBB and has an A+ rating. It has four positive reviews and 112 negative ones and 549 customer complaints.

However, it is not unusual in this industry for companies to have numerous negative customer reviews and complaints.

The company has no presence on Trust Pilot. In 2012, the company settled a claim against it by the Insurance Commissioner of California which alleged that the company had unlawfully paid rebates and offered inducements to real estate brokers.

The company agreed to cease and desist from the allegedly unlawful practices and paid a settlement of $1.25 million and attorneys fees of $175,000, but admitted no wrongdoing.

In 2008, a class action suit was brought in California against Fidelity National which alleged false advertising and insurance bad faith. The case resulted in four separate appeals and was eventually refiled.

I want you to know of my dissatisfaction with Fidelity National Home Warranty. Fidelity Costumer Service was rude, refused to really listen, and ultimately gave me no satisfaction. The FACTS: in March our oven fan made noise. Fidelity sent a man to fix it. He put a new fan in. No charge and no noise. Seemed fine. A few days later a similar noise. Called Fidelity. They said they would have a repair person contact me. I asked if there would be a charge for the service call. She said no. Repair man came. No sound even with oven at 400 degrees. He left. Repair man’s company called to tell me there would be a charge because nothing was found and it was the second... Read More

Worse service ever!!! Have been trying to get our refrigerator repaired since July 2018. The only company they have to service it is Sears (which are a total JOKE!!). Technician from Sears claims they has gone to our house and nobody is there, which is a big fat lie. Either my husband or myself will stay home during that 4 hour gap and wait on them, but as usual not phone call or text ever takes place. Furthermore, the technician takes matters into his own hands and decides to cancel the appointment....after months and months of waiting!! Called Fidelity and they told me to find my own contractor, but make sure he is licensed/bonded. What am I paying you for??? Beats the purpose of... Read More

I was enrolled in this service by my realtor as a benefit to buying a home. If I could give zero stars, I would. I had an emergent issue on a Saturday at 0730; I tried to contact this company who was apparently experiencing a technical error as eventually confirmed by multiple staff members when I contacted them on Monday which was the next open business day. Their automated system for emergencies over the weekend was apparently down and therefore only presented one option which was active flooding in the home. Being as how I am not a liar, I did not hit that button and was presented no other option. Even though the company admitted fault to the phones being down, they declined to pay... Read More

This company is a scam. I had a gas leak coming somewhere from my stove top - Fidelity National Home Warranty sent out 2 contractors - 1) first contractor told me he was the wrong type of contractor to fix the problem and 2) second contractor told me there was NO gas leak! I called my gas utility company (bc it was obvious there was a gas smell coming from the stove) and they found and fixed the gas leak on the stove hose. Not only were FNHW incompetent, but also incredulous that I complained about their incompetence. They left a dangerous situation unfixed. To add insult to injury, they double charged me for the same service call bc they sent out 2 contractors (that couldnt fix nor find... Read More

This company is terrible. Of the times I have called them in the past year (6 or more) they have sent competent people that fixed my issues, maybe twice. They have no way of requesting technicians, it's all random and most of the people they send out are not well trained. So, I waste $75 for a tech to come out and tell me they can't help. I could find better techs on my own for cheaper service fees. Their customer service agents are a joke. They have no empathy and want to stick to their scripts instead of listening to what their customers are saying. Find a different warranty company because this one is crap.

I've had my warranty since purchasing my house in 2011. I believe Fidelity is running some sort of fraudulent scam. Every year the contractors used by them have gotten worse and worse. Most have a one star review and nothing but horrible complaints and being turned into BBB. The first two years of my warranty were amazing but now it's a nightmare.

I'm having Fidelity Home warranty coverage, its about 10 months since I took that coverage. First issue I face in home was wall furnace making great amount of noise which is even audible from all bedrooms, and its annoying when you are in living room. I had called Fidelity home warranty on this issue and created a service request case for the wall furnace issue. I was asked to pay the $75 towards co-pay, eventually I did pay the amount in few days. Upon paid the fees, the service representatives did not dispatch anyone to look. I had to follow up few days to get someone dispatched. The HVAC company tried to contact me from "Unknown Caller" id for few times and left me Voice... Read More

Awful! They dropped me this year... I've made one claim for toilets. Called three times to find out why. The response was we don't have anyone 'higher' to tell you. Shady.

WORST EXPERIENCE! I have given them so many opportunities to make right on their contract and yet again and again they have the worst customer service. I have been dealing with this nightmare warranty since October 2018 its now 5 months later and they have started to lie. They have had 2 inspections, they have my entire home inspection report, my disclosures agreement from our previous home owners all showing the dishwasher has broken after we bought the home. Today they contacted me to say that the 2nd inspector said we told him " The dishwasher never worked" so they wont replace it. This is a LIE! I contacted the inspector to ask him and he said he never said this because i know that i... Read More
