Overall Rating: 2 / 5 (Poor)

Fidelity National's prices are inline with industry standards, though their service fees are slightly higher, and its guaranteed response time is a bit longer than that of other companies.

We feel the need to mention that Fidelity National has been the target of a state insurance regulatory action and a class action suit, requiring that customers give up their right to a jury trial in any legal dispute.

Coverage Options - 3 / 5

Fidelity National covers many of the usual systems and appliances, as well as a few specialty items.

However, coverage for refrigerators, washers/dryers, air conditioning units, pool and spa equipment and septic tank leaks and roof leaks are not part of the standard coverage, but must be purchased separately when the contract is signed.

Unlike some other home warranty companies, the company does not cover system or appliance failures due to lack of maintenance.

Reputation - 4.5 / 5

Fidelity National is accredited by the BBB and has an A+ rating. It has four positive reviews and 112 negative ones and 549 customer complaints.

However, it is not unusual in this industry for companies to have numerous negative customer reviews and complaints.

The company has no presence on Trust Pilot. In 2012, the company settled a claim against it by the Insurance Commissioner of California which alleged that the company had unlawfully paid rebates and offered inducements to real estate brokers.

The company agreed to cease and desist from the allegedly unlawful practices and paid a settlement of $1.25 million and attorneys fees of $175,000, but admitted no wrongdoing.

In 2008, a class action suit was brought in California against Fidelity National which alleged false advertising and insurance bad faith. The case resulted in four separate appeals and was eventually refiled.

Do not use this company I’ve been in it waiting 10 weeks for a new oven. I’ve called over 15 times waiting over an hour half of the time… Nobody is in charge of making sure you claim is taken care of. I paid the service man directly $75 and they are saying I still owe money. Meanwhile they won’t honor my contract

Never again will I use this company ... a complete ripoff. They contract with service providers that have horrible track records and the only time you can get someone on the phone without waiting 1-2 hours is if you select the option to renew your contract. Like many others on this comment board, I was shunted to a company that wasn't going to show up for two weeks to look at a broken refrigerator so I was forced to go with another company or risk my life by eating out or making frequent trips to the grocery store. They refused to reimburse me for anything, even the parts that were needed for the repair. AVOID THIS COMPANY AND SAVE YOUR MONEY TO PUT TOWARD YOUR REPAIRS.

Please do yourself a favor and stay away from Fidelity National Home Warranty. They are absolutely the worst company that I have ever interacted with. I submitted a request to have my AC fixed on July 16th and after going back and forth with them for several days they finally agreed to let me use an out of network contractor because their contractors did not service my area. They have now denied my reimbursement claim because they are saying I did not wait to get approval prior to having the work done. They expect you to sit in a hot house in the Arizona heat (110 degrees and hotter) for 30 days for them to review your claim before getting work done. Work company ever. Their customer... Read More

Take at least 1 hr plus to get through the phone. Days to get a service to fix anything. When checking with other warranty companies, rate is much cheaper. Don't go with this company not good service.

Your website does not work . Could neither place service request nor pay service fee on line. It takes hours to get an agent on line. I am frustrated with their service. For rush order placed on Friday 11 am , even on Monday 4 pm, no one attended the repair work. The dispatcher fails to call us, we have to call to listen to a rude person who says that may come around 8 pm, on Monday

What a joke this place is. I have been calling since 5:30am when my AC went out, following the prompts I kept getting an operator error message, finally found a different number to call and the lady I spoke with put me on hold in the middle of me speaking, and was short with me - that was at about 6:45am. 3 hours later, still haven't received notification of any kind that my ticket was even placed, so called again, and this time was only hold for over an hour. When I finally got through, they couldn't give me an estimated time that someone would reach out - this is frustrating when you have people and pets in a home and it's 113 degrees outside already. When I asked the guy to help me... Read More

My wife and I are first time home owners. We used Fidelity home warranty as Fidelity National title was the title company used for our home. We are still waiting on a payout for a dishwasher claim that is almost 2 months old. I have been on the phone a handful of times to try an get help, each only to spend about 30 mins to an hour each time. the communication on their part is absolute terrible. I have been told each time I call that I will get a call back updating me on the status of the payout we selected for the dishwasher, only to not hear anything! Here is an example of the the correspondence: * A phone call after waiting several days to prompt fidelity on the service... Read More

I have an open claim with fidelity that was originally initiated by me on 4/30/202 for my washing machine that does not drain. They sent sears out for a repair on 5/8 my washer was repaired for a few days then broke again. I filed another claim on 5/13 for the same issue, washer not draining. Sears came out 5/18 ordered parts that are no longer made and are literally not in stock anywhere. I have been in touch with sears 4 times via chat and have transcripts. They tell me parts are on backorder- of course they are they are no longer made or sold anywhere. I have called National Fidelity at least five times you wait on hold for 45-55 minutes before talking to an associate who works from... Read More
