Summary

Fetch provides a good mix of coverage and benefit options that makes it a solid choice if you are looking for pet insurance in Canada. Filing a claim is easy and claims are typically reimbursed within a couple of days. The company also features a number of discount options that can help pet owners make pet insurance more affordable. AARP members, Walmart shoppers, and pet parents who adopt can save on premiums, subject to approval. Fetch pretty much covers all the standard items you'd be looking for in a pet insurance provider and more. The fact that older animals are not discriminated against is a big plus, and 24/7 support, comprehensive coverage including payment of the veterinary exam fees, and great customer service are all nothing to sneeze at as well.

NOT happy with this company at all. They raised my yearly rate by over 300$ going from 700s to over 1000$. Also, they are super slow in evaluating any claim made. Petplan would not cover a teeth cleaning to help clear up gingivitis that developed under a gum claiming it a pre existing condition due to a teeth cleaning she had. Just as we will go to the dentist for a yearly cleaning I had my dog's teeth cleaned by my request as a preventative at 2 years old of course like us a bit of tartar. In a new country so opted for this insurance, her new vet checked her out including teeth and a year later she developed a a swollen gum (she is only 3.5 pounds) that the vet said was gingivitis... PetPlan refused our coverage because we had to euthanize our pet 11 days prior to our planned vacation instead of 7. His kidneys failed and he was extremely sick, we could let him suffer another 4 days. Shame on them. Never go with this company. They also took over a month and a half to deal with everything so while grieving my loss I also had to call and fight with them regularly. Save your monthly payment and insure yourself.

DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY. This company is an absolute joke. I had my pup insured for the last 6 months and regret every penny I've wasted on this policy. They don't have a proper CRM so even if you submit the requested documents SEVEN TIMES like I did, they will STILL come back and say your claim is closed due to lack of necessary documents. I have called, emailed, called again and been reassured OVER AND OVER that they have the info and that my claim is being processed and yet I still JUST got another email saying they don't have the documentation. A complete joke. I cancelled my policy and there is NO attempt at retaining me as a customer - they just DON'T CARE. Rant over.

I bought Petplan Insurance when Nutmeg was 6 months old. It was the best decision and purchase that I made yet for my girl. She injured both of her cruciate ligaments and needed surgery to repair. Petplan covered the 80% for the very expensive surgeries and covers her medications that she is required to be on for the rest of her life for Hip Dysplasia. We don't really want her to go through a hip replacement if possible. Petplan really does care and I am so grateful for their help as they have saved us thousands of dollars.

When my puppy was 8 weeks old she had a little puppy rash on her tummy. Almost a year later I got an allergy test because she started to itch her face a lot. The test was almost $700 and found she does have allergy's the meds were $400 they didn't cover any of it because that little rash a year ago was apparently enough to be considered pre existing now I can't afford her allergy meds and my poor dog has to suffer with itchy skin. Thanks Pet plan you truly do care!! :(

We have been with PetPlan for about 3 years. The premiums keep getting higher and the service keeps getting worse. Today's interaction with the CSR was the best yet! Echoing what has been written below, they take a very long time to payout. Like months sometimes. Twice, after submitting all the required paperwork, it was "overlooked" - the only reason they finally paid was because I kept following up. They also keep asking for medical records that I've already provided them with. Note that there is a $3.50 service fee each month that they don't list anywhere, on TOP of the monthly premium + tax. Overally, I've had few positive interactions with PetPlan and really wish I'd gone with... Read More

This company is absolute trash. They denied our claim reimbursement for emergency bloodwork because our vet titled what they call a "wellness check" a "canine viewing", they stated he hadn't been viewed in 12 months due to their inability to understand our vets title difference for the viewing/ check. You're better off opening a separate account and putting away money every month in case your dog has an accident. Met a past worker who informed us of all of the dirty secrets, these companies just want your money like any other dirty insurance company.

Buyer beware. Please read the policy immediately if you have already purchased the insurance. After reading the coverage and then the limits and exclusions, you'll realize that the scale favours heavily on the chance that your claim will be denied.

you mentioned waiting period 5 days to 15 days for illness but you should mention that it is after the claim has been assessed which can take one month!

If your Pet develops a chronic condition or has an expensive accident, they will increase your deductible by 5 times from $150 to $750 and reduce your copay from 90% to 70%. My cat is 3 and he is now not insurable. Petplan insurance is a total scam. I choose them because for a much higher premium each month, they had a 90% co-pay. They do NOT pay the vet directly and only reimburse, which is a big problem when you have a big claim. Other company's have lower premiums, pay the vet directly but have a lower copay. After tons of research, I chose to switch to Petplan with my 2 new adopted kittens because of the copay. I thought the higher copay and similar deductible was worth the hassle of... Read More
