Summary

Fetch provides a good mix of coverage and benefit options that makes it a solid choice if you are looking for pet insurance in Canada. Filing a claim is easy and claims are typically reimbursed within a couple of days. The company also features a number of discount options that can help pet owners make pet insurance more affordable. AARP members, Walmart shoppers, and pet parents who adopt can save on premiums, subject to approval. Fetch pretty much covers all the standard items you'd be looking for in a pet insurance provider and more. The fact that older animals are not discriminated against is a big plus, and 24/7 support, comprehensive coverage including payment of the veterinary exam fees, and great customer service are all nothing to sneeze at as well.

I've been able to try Petplan Insurance for 30 days as part of its promotion tied to SPCA. Please note that vet clinic cannot bill them directly and you'll have to submit everything online. You'll need to provide medical history for 2 years or since 6 weeks onwards if pet is less than 2 years. Did all that as part of my claim after my suffered some Diarrhea sickness while staying overnight at Petsmart. Anyway, it's been 3 weeks and still no positive sign of getting paid for the small amount that I'm claiming. They keep on asking for 2 year medical records even though it's been provided to them twice. Keep this in mind when signing with them. Also, its close competitor... Read More

Company takes FOREVER to pay out claims and continually decreases your coverage but increases your deductible and premiums. Claims it is due to "pet's age", however, we saw ridiculous cost increases and coverage decreases from year 1 of pet (age 1) to year 3 of pet. As well, if you make what they deem to be too many claims, they'll penalize you for doing so by again, decreasing coverage but increasing rates / deductible. Stay away from this company!! Trupanion is, hand down, far better company as they do NOT increase / decrease your coverage / rates based on your pets age, and the plan YOU pick is the plan you keep for the life of your pet. with no penalties for claims or age.

I would NEVER use this company because they will downgrade your coverage if you used your claim. I have two cats and a dog, and they have been under insurance since 2013. Yesterday, I found my cat Ernie`s coverage was dropped from 200$ deductible and 90% reimbursement to 500$ deductible and 70% reimbursement. Initially, I thought was a mistake so I called. Apparently this company readjust their insurance coverage on an annually basis, and when I asked what are the factors affect their decisions. They keep saying locations, pet age, and other conditions. My other cat Dancer is living in the same location with the same age, and the only differences is that Ernie has been diagnosed for urine... After reading all of these comments and the way Petplan does business, I wonder if consumersadvocate.org would like to reconsider their #1 rating for this company?? A company like this should NEVER be promoted as a great option when it comes to insuring your beloved pet. Over the course of 10 years (easily the average pets' life) these companies are making upwards of $12,000 off of each pet. Minimum!! Now consider the fact they are basically hijacking your claims - refusing to pay them or making the deductibles and co-pays so high that there is nothing left to be reimbursed. Excuses excuses, they do not care. It's absolutely shameful and honestly a waste of money for the... Read More

The premiums for my 2 young dogs have increased 100% in 3 years. Furthermore, the renewal letter PetPlan sent provided a link to my account, which clearly displays the premium for LAST year. They then charged a 35% higher amount to my credit card. I am VERY disappointed.

I have to admit that I think they're great! Just from my most recent experience with them, they responded in a friendly manner and forwarded my claim for expedited service! My puppy is only 5 months old, he's a dach/pom mix and i got Petplan about 2 months ago when I got my puppy. He had diarrhea and vomitting about 1.5 months later and I took him to the emergency. The total of my bill was about $600. I sent all the medical records along with the invoice to Petplan, it did take them a little longer to finish processing the claim, but everything came back approved and i'll be getting 80% reimbursed after my deductible. So far I see nothing wrong with them.

This is simply not true and false advertising: NO increase in premiums due to claims made They get around this by lowering your coverage for the same or a lower rate, basically automatically downgrading your coverage after a claim. And you can't pay more for the same coverage. It's basically akin to pushing you out the door. BEWARE I was downgraded in my second year due to claims made in the first year (none in the second).

I totally agree. This company is a TOTAL SCAM. They go around in circles finding an excuse to deny your claim. They ask over and over again for records that is already submitted and don't seem to actually have a claims department that is existent. Don't waste your money and expect a peace of mind from them. My dog was very sick and they do not sympathize but all they do is ask over and over again for the same S**T. Before I signed up, I checked to ensure that I can enroll my pet given that I have no past two years medical records as there was no need to to have them checked up if they were never sick and the agent said I would be covered as long as I had a vet exam done within the first... This company is a scam. They claim they don’t raise premiums based on the claims. Conveniently, they forgot to mention that they raise their premium by almost 20% every year regardless if you claimed anything or not. Second of all, when I was signing up, I was told that I can claim whenever as long as my pet was insured during that time. I submitted my claim of 512$ and it was denied, because the submission was after the policy year ended. I have 7 pets insured with them and how am I suppose to keep all my pets dates in my mind as well as they are conveniently don’t tell you “make sure submit your receipts before the policy’s year end” They are bunch of crooks and I’ll be cancelling... I have had Pet plan since Jan-2016 for my Cavapoo. He was 60 days old when I started the plan with PetPlan. They sell their mobile app to easy how easy it is to make a claim. The app does not work at all. So we resolve to email. Anything to do with collecting money, its all automated and streamlined by Petplan. When it comes to claims, I have not received a single claim from PetPlan. Its always that the Vet did not send this or that. I go to the Vet, they show me all Fax transmitted files that was sent to Petplan. Why bother with a company that dos not process a claim? I am surprised that I see them as a top ranked company, but none of the comments are really even a two star. This company... Read More
