Overall Rating: 4.4 / 5 (Excellent)

Embrace gets good marks from us mainly on the strength of customer satisfaction.

Even though plans are a little on the pricier side, and unlimited coverage is not an option, customer feedback is among the most positive.

Also, Embrace offers standard coverage of many conditions and treatments not offered at all by most plans. These include behavioral therapy and prosthetics.

Embrace Coverage

Coverage - 4.5 / 5

Embrace sets itself apart from the pack in coverage because, in addition to providing for usual accidents and illnesses, the company also covers various items not traditionally offered under other companies' standard plans.

These include prosthetic limbs, behavioral therapy, and alternative treatments. Embrace also offers prescription drug coverage and a wellness plan at an additional cost.

As with all pet insurance plans, Embrace will not cover pre-existing conditions if they were apparent before the policy purchase.

Embrace's annual maximum is also customizable, although the highest limit is lower than some other companies, and they do not offer unlimited coverage.

The lowest limit is $5000, while the highest is $15,000. This refers to the maximum they will pay for all incidents and procedures for the entire year.

If your pet requires multiple, serious procedures, or cutting edge treatment, it's possible this can be a limiting factor.

Reimbursement - 4.5 / 5

Embrace's policies are among the most customizable when compared to other companies. This includes the reimbursement model as well.

For accidents and illnesses, the waiting period is 14 days. However, in some states, the waiting period for accidents is only 48 hours or two days.

There is an additional six month waiting period for dogs for orthopedic conditions, but there is an option to have this reduced to as little as 14 days.

Embrace will not allow pets older than 14 to enroll in illness coverage, which some other plans do.

Claims & Service

Extras - 4.5 / 5

Embrace has some of the best feedback we've seen when it comes to customer service.

The majority of online reviews mirror generally positive experiences. To make a claim you must fill out the claim form that was included with the enrollment email.

You can also download the form on the website or have it mailed to you. The form must be filled out by a veterinary staff member. Include all relevant invoices and receipts and fax or email them all to the company.

Embrace offers direct deposit to get you the reimbursement as quickly as possible. Furthermore, beginning recently, claim forms can now also uploaded through MyEmbrace, the company's online customer account.

I cannot say enough good things about Embrace. We have a now 12 years old cat, Callie, who has had multiple health problems including dental , ear infections and inflammatory bowel disease. Embrace has always paid my claims usually within two weeks. If I did not have this insurance I do not know I could afford the vet bills!! We rescued Callie when she was 5 years old and has been a wonderful sweet cat.

My dog had a bacterial ear infection and coverage was denied because she had a "slight" yeast ear infection when she was spayed, they only found it because of the surgery. It was a pre-existing condition because they said it was a dermatological condition and anything dermatological would be excluded because of the "slight" ear infection she had as a puppy. Also, she had a uti and had had vaginitis when she was a puppy, so the coverage was also denied. So basically if there is anything in the area, or that could possibly be related to the symptom, they will deny it as pre-existing. Also, we tried to cancel and they didn't cancel and we had to fight them about getting our money back for... Read More

I am a huge fan of Embrace. I've read the other comments, and here is what you need to know to avoid most of those issues: 1. Sign up and pay for your polilcy. Embrace then alllows you 30 days to submit your pet's medical records and vet info and have Embrace review them. The process is called Medical History Review. Embrace will assess whether your pet has any pre-exisiting conditions and if so how long and which benefits will be excluded. I had one pet who had an exclusion for skin issues for a year. If you don't like the assessment, you can cancel your policy for a full refund. If you continue, getting your claims processed will be faster and there will be no surprises. 2.... Read More

Promptly received my reimbursement (within 30 days) for routine pet exam without having to file/mail any paperwork. My vet submitted the bill online, and that was it.

I have the pleasure (most of the time!) of owning 2 Siberian Huskies. These dogs are constantly doing things that land them at the vet. You guys are punctual, for the most part, when it comes to acknowledging a claim receipt. I would prefer to know sooner and maybe get a phone call every so often...thank you!

I love Embrace Pet Insurance. My indoor cat was attacked by my daughter's indoor cat and almost had to have her tail amputated. Luckily, she did not, but my vet bill totaled a little over $1K. I only had to pay 20%. The claims are done online and the check is in your mailbox in about 2 weeks. Customer service is great too! There's always a live person to talk to on the phone without the long wait. Keep up the good work Embrace!

Embrace went above and beyond. My first claim to them ever was a big one. I had to put my dog to sleep. In a time of mourning and grief, I was not only thankfully reimbursed for the claims submitted, but I was sent a personalized card from the staff sending their sympathies for losing Bella. It meant so much. I am very happy I switched over to Embrace for my pet insurance.

Having a somewhat long experience with Embrace encompassing 2 dogs, and serious final illnesses resulting in the eventual death of each, I am a fan of the company. I was able to make what I felt were the best medical decisions with much reduced concern for the financial side of those decisions. Thank you.

I have a 10 year old and a 5 year old fur babies. I feel I am compensated fairly for my 5 yo, but my 10 yo is at the vets more for more chronic issues that are not covered as well. That is my only complaint.

My dog has had insurance coverage by Embrace for a few years now. I have not had to file a claim until this year. The process was extremely easy, and everyone was nice and helpful when I had to call customer service to ask a couple of questions about the process. After the claim was filed, I was correctly and promptly reimbursed. Thank you, Embrace. Yahtzee is feeling much better, and so is my wallet.
