Overall Rating: 4.4 / 5 (Excellent)

Fetch ranks highly with us chiefly because of the comprehensiveness of coverage, including coverage for the entire sick visit including exam fees, and flexibility in customizing deductibles, reimbursement rates, and maximum annual payouts. In light of this, the customer has a lot of leeway to mix and match to get the right premiums for their individual pet and financial situation.

Fetch Coverage

Coverage - 5 / 5

Fetch offers the most extensive coverage in comparison to the other companies we rate. They handle all new accidents and illnesses without restrictions for hereditary or congenital conditions, as well as medications, advanced testing, hospital stays, rehabilitative care, and holistic therapies.

Fetch provides coverage for behavioral treatments on all policies, including anxiety disorders such as travel and separation anxiety, noise phobia, and house soiling. Many other providers require a rider or don’t cover behavioral treatments at all.

Also, all non-routine veterinary exam fees are covered in all plans, including at emergency & specialist vets. While some providers don’t cover the cost of the exam, Fetch does, saving pet parents between $50-$250 per visit on average (with other providers, that’s the equivalent of an additional deductible you must meet on every veterinary visit).

Fetch has the most comprehensive coverage of dental injury and treatment of periodontal disease. Fetch’s comprehensive dental coverage protects against multiple accidents and injuries including broken teeth, periodontal disease, extractions and advanced dental treatments such as root canal therapy for every tooth in the mouth, not just the canines like some other providers.

Finally, Fetch will cover curable pre-existing conditions after the 365 day exclusionary period after your policy becomes active. The company also covers most bilateral conditions when one side is considered to be pre-existing, which is something many other providers won't do.

Benefit Limits

Benefit Limits - 5 / 5

Fetch's maximum annual payouts can range from $5,000 to unlimited.

This can be advantageous if you research the types and costs of conditions your particular breed is likely to face, and combine it with the cost of treatment considering your area.

Reimbursement & Deductibles

Reimbursement - 5 / 5

Like all the leading pet insurance policies today, Fetch will pay a predetermined percentage of your actual veterinarian bill after you have met your deductible.

The reimbursement rates you can choose from are 70%, 80%, and 90%.

Deductibles - 5 / 5

Cat owners can select a deductible of $250, $300, or $400, while dog owners can select a deductible of $300, $500, or $700.

If you choose a higher end deductible, it is going to translate into lower monthly premiums. Fetch operates on an annual deductible, which is ideal as you will only have to meet the one deductible regardless of incidences.

Pricing: How much does Fetch cost?

Cost - 3 / 5

Fetch leverages their 15 years of data to determine the most accurate pricing based on your pet’s breed, age and your location. Fetch also prides itself on offering more coverage than any other provider. They offer premium pet insurance and that means they are not the cheapest. Pricing is based on your pets age, breed and location.

Claims & Service

Extras - 4.5 / 5

Fetch is one of the only pet insurance companies to specifically state a claims payout timeframe in its terms and conditions, 30 days. However, most are reimbursed in 5-7 business days after submission of a completed claim, especially when submitted via the Fetch App or online.

To file a claim, you need two documents:
● A finalized invoice from your vet. Your invoice should clearly show what your pet was treated for, how much you were charged and it has to be paid in full.
● Detailed medical records from your pet’s most recent checkup. Medical records show us your pet’s medical history and let us see what we can cover, which allows us to process your claim quickly.

One thing to note: claims have to be filed within 90 days of treatment. If a claim is submitted more than 90 days after the date on the invoice, it won’t be covered.

Fetch also gives you the flexibility of submitting this information through its free app for Android and iPhone. You can also use their online portal on your phone or computer. This lets you file claims instantly and without messy paperwork 24/7.

Fetch also features the "Telehealth" service. This facility provides coverage for telephone consultations for an immediate lifesaving emergency.

I had been with PetPlan for 15- 20 years. A wonderful company. Then they became Fetch and everything changed. They tripled my premium without notice and became very difficult to deal with their new flawed business plan. Then my dog died at age 15.3. I called to cancel my plan because there was no longer a dog to be covered. I was refused cancellation. I sent legal notice with copies of the vet's medical report. I was refused cancellation. I stopped auto pay at my credit card company as I knew they would try to charge me another month's fee for covering a dead dog. I was right, I got a dunning email demanding payment. See you in court Fetch. Stay far away from this company.

Not a customer and never will be since they require you pay the bill in full to be reimbursed. Unless people get insurance because they can't come up with $5,000 at the time of treatment. This is bullshit!

I just received the letter from Fetch (formerly Pet Plan) to assure me my plan will be renewed. My dog is a YorkiePoo and is 10 years old. The premiums have almost doubled! I have not had a claim in 3 years, so that premium reflects a 30 percent benefit savings. Almost doubled!!!! Outrageous to say the least! Yes I understand my pet is getting older, but this is robbery!!! I would have given a 5 star rating previously, but beware, once your pet gets older. You are between a rock and a hard place! and they know it! Was happy, not so much anymore!

Fetch will do anything to make it difficult to make a claim. This company is not worthy of consideration for our beloved pets.

A Total Scam!! Don't use this firm. They won't pay any claims! They delay for weeks. Ignore claims. Then insist upon records that have already been delivered to them. They will do anything to avoid paying a claim. Avoid at all costs!!

This is not a good company to reimburse. I originally got this insurance but it was a different company 7 years ago. My dog had never been sick so I did not have any claims. Until last year my little dog got sick and I had to put him down. When I submitted the claim it was denied because it was not submitted in time. I submitted the claim 3 months after I put him down. I do not recommend them and I will never use them. I have a new puppy and am looking for a new insurance. I am staying away from this insurance. I will definitely read the fine print.

Don’t waste your money! They will do everything to not pay you. I have never put in a claim in the 3 years I’ve paid into this insurance (petplan and now fetch) I finally submitted some claims and it is like pulling teeth! Better you just take your monthly payment and out it in a special account for the day you may need it.

Years ago i had them for my cockapoo and they were great. I have carried their insurance for 10 years now for two of my dogs and one recently passed with a very high bill for a 24 hour overnight and surgery. After 10 years of paying nothing one either dog they paid less than half of the claim. I am getting.another.puppy but.i will not use them

All was well until recently. Looks like I am in good company. My cat got sick this morning and I checked my benefits to find out they changed my plan and reduced my benefits. Looks like the new underwriters and dumping loyal customer. My cat did have a foreign body ingestion in 2017, and Petplan was awesome back then. Now it's a cold hearted place. I can't believe they had the audacity to change my plan without approval and never contact me. During COVID, my income is reduced, and this is a kick to the groin. Stay away folks. Stay far away.

I have had my three babies insured since they were 3 months old and paid a monthly premium on each for the last year. Here's what I can tell you - THEY HAVE THE WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE ANYWHERE The people might be nice but I have now heard the excuse that the webs.ite is not correct for over a month. Today one of my babies is gone from my account completely and another has two policies. You NEVER get an answer. Nothing is ever fixed. The charges to my credit card do not match what I am told and of course do not match the website at all. I wanted all my babies on an annual pay - what is so difficult about that??? ANd as far as the website being "wrong" it is supposed to be data driven... Read More
