Overall Rating: 4.4 / 5 (Excellent)

Fetch ranks highly with us chiefly because of the comprehensiveness of coverage, including coverage for the entire sick visit including exam fees, and flexibility in customizing deductibles, reimbursement rates, and maximum annual payouts. In light of this, the customer has a lot of leeway to mix and match to get the right premiums for their individual pet and financial situation.

Fetch Coverage

Coverage - 5 / 5

Fetch offers the most extensive coverage in comparison to the other companies we rate. They handle all new accidents and illnesses without restrictions for hereditary or congenital conditions, as well as medications, advanced testing, hospital stays, rehabilitative care, and holistic therapies.

Fetch provides coverage for behavioral treatments on all policies, including anxiety disorders such as travel and separation anxiety, noise phobia, and house soiling. Many other providers require a rider or don’t cover behavioral treatments at all.

Also, all non-routine veterinary exam fees are covered in all plans, including at emergency & specialist vets. While some providers don’t cover the cost of the exam, Fetch does, saving pet parents between $50-$250 per visit on average (with other providers, that’s the equivalent of an additional deductible you must meet on every veterinary visit).

Fetch has the most comprehensive coverage of dental injury and treatment of periodontal disease. Fetch’s comprehensive dental coverage protects against multiple accidents and injuries including broken teeth, periodontal disease, extractions and advanced dental treatments such as root canal therapy for every tooth in the mouth, not just the canines like some other providers.

Finally, Fetch will cover curable pre-existing conditions after the 365 day exclusionary period after your policy becomes active. The company also covers most bilateral conditions when one side is considered to be pre-existing, which is something many other providers won't do.

Reimbursement & Deductibles

Reimbursement - 5 / 5

Like all the leading pet insurance policies today, Fetch will pay a predetermined percentage of your actual veterinarian bill after you have met your deductible.

The reimbursement rates you can choose from are 70%, 80%, and 90%.

Deductibles - 5 / 5

Cat owners can select a deductible of $250, $300, or $400, while dog owners can select a deductible of $300, $500, or $700.

If you choose a higher end deductible, it is going to translate into lower monthly premiums. Fetch operates on an annual deductible, which is ideal as you will only have to meet the one deductible regardless of incidences.

Claims & Service

Extras - 4.5 / 5

Fetch is one of the only pet insurance companies to specifically state a claims payout timeframe in its terms and conditions, 30 days. However, most are reimbursed in 5-7 business days after submission of a completed claim, especially when submitted via the Fetch App or online.

To file a claim, you need two documents:
● A finalized invoice from your vet. Your invoice should clearly show what your pet was treated for, how much you were charged and it has to be paid in full.
● Detailed medical records from your pet’s most recent checkup. Medical records show us your pet’s medical history and let us see what we can cover, which allows us to process your claim quickly.

One thing to note: claims have to be filed within 90 days of treatment. If a claim is submitted more than 90 days after the date on the invoice, it won’t be covered.

Fetch also gives you the flexibility of submitting this information through its free app for Android and iPhone. You can also use their online portal on your phone or computer. This lets you file claims instantly and without messy paperwork 24/7.

Fetch also features the "Telehealth" service. This facility provides coverage for telephone consultations for an immediate lifesaving emergency.

This is the worst pet insurance ever. They denied all of my claims for my dog, even though she is a 4 months old puppy...

i strongly recommend NOT choosing Petplan. After a year of on time payments by us, Petplan denied our claim for what they say is pre-existing condition. Our dog started licking and loosing fur on the bottom of her front feet which after testing is due to allergy to grass. This was not anything treated in the past. DO NOT TRUST PETPLAN

Very annoyed by the billing process and the lack of coverage. They say you have a deductible....however.....the deductible is by disease....not overall....that is not spelled out in the policy.....anything i submitted never got paid. changing plans to another company...feeling ripped off

I've had PetPlan for years, I think around 8 years now and I cannot be happier with their coverage, speed of processing claims and the amounts that they cover and reimburse. They do not split hairs, and I never had a question or a doubt that they were not being fair in their reimbursements. I've had three cats covered through them, out of which one had to be put down due to acute renal failure and it cost in the ER hospital fees in thousands of $ (LA, CA). They paid me back everything, minus the deductible and up to 80% for the ER/specialty care. Then I adopted my second cat, who is still rather young, but he just had a second bout of pancreatitis in his short 5 years of live. He barely... Read More

Fetch by DODO is awful. Don't even waste your time with this company. Everything we submitted for our dog took forever to get reimbursed and even then it was only partial. If you want to get hold of a human being to talk to, forget it. Everything is done by email or chat and they take their good old time getting back to you. Believe me, it's not worth your time, cost and the aggravation you will be put through. TERRIBLE COMPANY!

Took puppy in last July for what is believed to be seizures. Submited claim with Fetch immediately. Fetch has repeatedly demanded or requested additional paper work that does not exist. Fetch has sugested I generate false or non exsistent paper work! All require forms have been submitted repeatedly. As of date (9-9-23 I still have not recieved my refund. Clearly they are stalling and collecting interest on this money they owe me! I've dropped Fetch and I am very disappointed. Not recommended!

IN the Beginning it seems like a great affordable company. My dog it now 8 and in the last year his policy went from 495 a quarter to $814 a quarter. The increase has me wanting to drop them but afraid if I do and something goes wrong. SO puts me in a bad position. Not sure if it also because I finally using the policy more now as he has allegeries, that could of caused the increase.

Fetch pet insurance was not a good choice for us. We submitted claims on time but were denied and told that we submitted them too late. They charged 2x what the quote said they would charge. Every claim presented was denied.
