Fetch ranks highly with us chiefly because of the comprehensiveness of coverage, including coverage for the entire sick visit including exam fees, and flexibility in customizing deductibles, reimbursement rates, and maximum annual payouts. In light of this, the customer has a lot of leeway to mix and match to get the right premiums for their individual pet and financial situation.

Fetch offers the most extensive coverage in comparison to the other companies we rate. They handle all new accidents and illnesses without restrictions for hereditary or congenital conditions, as well as medications, advanced testing, hospital stays, rehabilitative care, and holistic therapies.

Fetch provides coverage for behavioral treatments on all policies, including anxiety disorders such as travel and separation anxiety, noise phobia, and house soiling. Many other providers require a rider or don’t cover behavioral treatments at all.

Also, all non-routine veterinary exam fees are covered in all plans, including at emergency & specialist vets. While some providers don’t cover the cost of the exam, Fetch does, saving pet parents between $50-$250 per visit on average (with other providers, that’s the equivalent of an additional deductible you must meet on every veterinary visit).

Fetch has the most comprehensive coverage of dental injury and treatment of periodontal disease. Fetch’s comprehensive dental coverage protects against multiple accidents and injuries including broken teeth, periodontal disease, extractions and advanced dental treatments such as root canal therapy for every tooth in the mouth, not just the canines like some other providers.

Finally, Fetch will cover curable pre-existing conditions after the 365 day exclusionary period after your policy becomes active. The company also covers most bilateral conditions when one side is considered to be pre-existing, which is something many other providers won't do.

Claims & Service

Fetch is one of the only pet insurance companies to specifically state a claims payout timeframe in its terms and conditions, 30 days. However, most are reimbursed in 5-7 business days after submission of a completed claim, especially when submitted via the Fetch App or online.

To file a claim, you need two documents:
● A finalized invoice from your vet. Your invoice should clearly show what your pet was treated for, how much you were charged and it has to be paid in full.
● Detailed medical records from your pet’s most recent checkup. Medical records show us your pet’s medical history and let us see what we can cover, which allows us to process your claim quickly.

One thing to note: claims have to be filed within 90 days of treatment. If a claim is submitted more than 90 days after the date on the invoice, it won’t be covered.

Fetch also gives you the flexibility of submitting this information through its free app for Android and iPhone. You can also use their online portal on your phone or computer. This lets you file claims instantly and without messy paperwork 24/7.

Fetch also features the "Telehealth" service. This facility provides coverage for telephone consultations for an immediate lifesaving emergency.

Petplan is the absolute best. They have literally saved my dog's life. He has polyneuropathy which is a death sentence for other dogs. They have covered not only his acupuncture and Chinese Herbs but also his stem cell injections that my dog Leo gets from the University of Florida vet school. There is no question that without PetPlan my dog would be dead. Not only that, but in my many years with them, they have never, at any time, given me any difficulties with covering a claim and have always been courteous and caring to deal with. I could not possibly recommend them more highly.

Our experience with Petplan has again been outstanding. We have three dogs, or has we see them our "kids", and all three have been covered by Petplan since we have had them. Eliza, our little miniature WireHair Dachshund was very ill and was hospitalized for eight days. She is recovering at home now and returning to her old self. My dog has had many medical problems in her life, and pet plan and its employees have always been helpful and kind. Soula recently had to have a very expensive surgery, and pet plan quickly reimbursed me and followed up with a phone call to ask how Soula was recovering. If you have a dog that is accident prone or easily gets sick then petplan is a great value. I started with petplan 5 years ago while in college, after my dog broke her leg. I could not afford her vet bills, after making it through that ordeal I decided to get her pet insurance to avoid having to compromise on her health care because of finances. It is a great company, and I highly recommend it.

I have had Petplan insurance since both my Boxers were puppies, (now 5 and 3) and added on my 5yo cat 2 years ago. I just wanted to let people know that Petplan Insurance has been nothing but wonderful to me, my 2 Boxers and my Kitty. Recently both my cat and Boxer had to undergo surgeries within a week apart. My cat Maggie had very large bladder stones that needed to be removed and my Boxer Bella needed ACL surgery. With cost going above $8000.00 for both my girls surgeries together I would have had to take out a loan, with having Petplan Insurance on all 3 of my pets it saved me a very large loan to pay off and both claims were reimbursed to me within 2 weeks of submitting all medical... Not only is PetPlan wonderful to deal with on the phone, but they are professional and honest to the nth degree the way they follow up, and keep you abreast until each Pet event is finalized. I would hope my own life and medical insurance companies would treat me and my family as well as PetPlan treats our cat "Max"

THEY ARE ABSOLUTELY THE BEST. I didn't know insurance companies could be so friendly, caring, and helpful. I have a little puppy who has already had to get surgery. They covered the claim completely, and sent checks quickly. They guided me through the pre-authorization process, provided an accelerated authorization when I requested so I could get my little guy fixed up. ONE MILLION STARS for PetPlan. I absolutely love them.

I have had all my pets covered by Petplan for over 10 years now and I am very happy with the coverage. In the past year I have had both my dogs get sick with cancer. Because of Petplan I was able to have my have some more time with my Rottie. Unfortunately I lost him recently but having the insurance meant I was able to afford to treat him and keep him with me a little longer. Right now my Golden still going through treatment after surgery. I may still have him for a while thanks to the great care I was able to get him through Petplan.
